Might E.T. be the best 2600 game...based on a movie?
Pioneer4x4 replied to Lonely Mountain Hermit's topic in Atari 2600
I think you missed the "based on a movie" part. -
Maybe if the existing hole for the RF plug contained a Stereo 1/8" jack socket. Then you could use a standard headphone to RCA cable, one for audio, and one for video. Or if you wanted to keep the 2 audio channels separate, you could use one of the cables that comes has all 3 in a 1/8" jack. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007V6JCK?ie=UTF8&tag=atariage&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0007V6JCK http://www.euronetwork.co.uk/acatalog/3.5mm_Socket_Stereo_4-Pole_Solder_Chassis-mount_11-1044_Audio_Visual_Connectors.html basically search on "4 pole 3.5 mm socket"

I am only making a guess, and I doubt it since other things work, did you check the SAP or Stereo settings?

Thanks! I made a color list and was impressed with my title screen and playfield gradient. I just got the pfpixel flip working just to test my cursor movement. And I am ALL OVER your page including http://www.randomterrain.com/atari-2600-memories-batari-basic-commands.html#pfpixel Major bummer on the colors. If I could only make a couple arrays, and read a 0,1,2,3 from each cell... OK, I guess I need to map out exactly what data is required , and do it bit wise. What is the max dimensions of sprites? Can you define the missile and ball sprites like a player sprite? Thanks again!

LOL, I can see him now, "Can I have the Hammer?"

First off, I am loving it! I am working on a project that is not action based, more puzzle based, so speed is not an issue at all. I want to move game pieces around a grid, but I don't know how to draw and store them all. Can the playfield be modified on the fly? Can individual playfield blocks be tested to see if on or off? I have made my first splash screen, and playfield, and you can move a cursor around the limited defined area and switch playfield clocks on or off. I also tested it on a real 2600 thanks to the Harmony cart, that was way cool! Basically I need to update close to 256 locations with 1 of 4 colors, maybe 1 of 3. I think I will be out of ram no matter what I do, unless I can use the playfield as data that is readable.

Excellent video, thank you!

Recommend a VCR to connect old systems to composite?
Pioneer4x4 replied to eebuckeye's topic in Atari 2600
Actually, that is a good idea, I think some will work as an analog receiver also. That is so they can pickup all tv signals, before and after the conversion. I did some quick googling and couldn't find a definitive answer. -
Unfortunatley, no, he passed away several years ago. And I am quoting excerpts from a poster, and movie script, not re publishing the entire work. Like I have mentioned earlier it certainly is, I hope you have the legal right to publish ALL of the works on your site, talk about "hypocrisy". You are welcome.

LOL, I agree. I guess when I do my A/V mod (with pause now!) I will have to put a switch in to split or join the 2 channels!

That is just sad... Many, if not most forum members have signatures that bear little to no direct meaning to each individual message they type. I am not offended by yours, just totally amazed. Since 1 other person mentioned the langauge, you said you would change it. OK, great I guess, again, I would be more concerned with what companies might go after me than who is offended. Anyway, what I typed from the beginning was purely my opinion, ignore it if you want.

I thought Survival Island was first.

Ride till we find them... and kill them all. That is your signature. OK, I guess I need to explain. I am one of those stuffy old men that was actually alive and a kid when the 2600 came out. When I go to a site for video games from the 70's the first think I don't expect to see is" "Hell Yea Bitches! Fuck No! Some Good, Some Shitty." Do I like violent games and movies, Hell Yea Bitches! Do I only play Pac-Man, and never looked at Custer's Revenge, Fuck No! What do I think about the games available on the 2600, Some Good, Some Shitty. I agree that there are violent games, mature games, odd games for the 2600. But I aom only guessing, but I highly doubt they were .1% of total game sales. Not over %50 like the XBOX 360 which I own, and play a lot. I was actually offering my honest advice of which neither of which was quoted, thanks... You posted to basically advertise your website, I thank you for creating it and showing it to me/us. I went and looked at it. I offered my opinion, and advice. I have been told I can be opinionated, but this time I know it is purly my opinion, you don't need to even acknowledge I have one, but I ass-u-me-d that you were looking for opinions on your web site, I was obviously wrong. Since your only reply is based on my signature, not what I typed specific to looking at your site, I offer 2 questions: 1)If my signature was "I like ducks and unicorns" would you take my comments differenty? 2)If my comments were more violent and threatening (Since my signature CLEARLY depicts my desires...) would that change your perceptions the comments? Anyway, there is a reason that AtariAge does not have certain files available, and I STRONGLY support that decision. In fact, thank you for makeing me think more about that. You made me realize that I do value AtariAge's site/standards/layout. I just subscribed for that specific reason, to support what I like and approve of. Thank you AtariAge! P.S. That quote is from one of my favorite books and movies, not a personal way of life. I just thought I might need to clarify that since might not be obvious to all. Hence the avatar also.

I just see all kinds of legal issues... Plus I was turned off by the langauge as soon as I went to the page. To me the Atari was always very family oriented.

I was going to say Dragon Stomper as a joke! -
Survival Island used a code for continuing the game.

The movie and game for Mega Force, both suck, so it is the most faithful representation! -
V5, the one that's currently online. V6 will appear later this year. Can the symbol be changed to something other than a tilde? I don't think you can do searches for ~ correctly. I used a file rename util to change them, then I could search on the new character.
