  1. Got it, thanks again. I enabled that setting. I will need to be proactive on filve versions so I don't blow away a working copy. I'm at the point now where I need better understanding of the "playfield". Ideally I would like a way to display 4 colors without using sprites. I have a long way to go!
  2. I know about the simple things! I'm on call this weekend, and I just got paged for somthing even more mindless, that 3 people missed and paged me on.
  3. LOL! Miracle of miracles, what a difference! I guess that makes sense since it is passing the code to another parser... THANKS A BUNCH! Now I can get started on my ideas, and then the hopefully less obvious questions will come!
  4. It is just one of the samples "Draw.bas". It compiles fine as is, but not when I make a copy of it. I admit I am a TOTAL noob at this, but not at programming. If I do a Add New Code, and paste it in, it won't work. include div_mul.asm set kernel_options no_blank_lines set romsize 8kSC set smartbranching on const pfres=32 pfclear player0x=10:player0y=7 player0: %11000000 %01100000 110001 011011 001111 011111 111111 end gameloop COLUP0=15 COLUPF=20 if joy0left then player0x=player0x-1:if player0x<10 then player0x=10 if joy0right then player0x=player0x+1:if player0x>137 then player0x=137 if joy0up then player0y=player0y-1:if player0y<7 then player0y=7 if joy0down then player0y=player0y+1:if player0y>99 then player0y=99 skipjoy if joy0fire then gosub plot drawscreen goto gameloop plot rem convert player position to playfield pixel rem divide by 3 vertically g=(player0y-7)/3 h=(player0x-10)/4 if g=i && j=h then return i=g:j=h pfpixel h g flip return
  5. OK, I feel like a dolt, but I cannot seem to create anthing new in Visual bB. I have build 550. It seems to work fine with no errors. I can open up samples, and tweak things like colors. When I recompile and run it works find. If I create a new project and copy the sample.bas file's contents, it compiles OK. But when I run the .bin in stella, I just get a flickering black screen with a couple vertical white lines on the left, and a smaller one to the right. If I paste the text into Crimson Editor it works OK.
  6. How are you planning on sending the signal to the projector for others to see? I assume you will either need a modded Atari, or use something like a VCR to convert "Channel 3" to a pure A/V signal. Also if you have access to another projector or monitor, you could put another camera inside the "cockpit" so that "Mission Control" can see the pilot.
  7. Basically that is exactly what I did. I setup the entire folder structure first by controller, thanks to Mirage's tip! Unzip the rom's files to a "wish list" folder. Search for (pal), hit the delete key. (I had to put that in! ) Then make the different controller folders first, make a subfolder for each company you care to split out, and a "others" folder in one of them, then copy all of those to the other controller folders. then search for the word (paddle) in the rom folder, and move them all to the root of paddle. Go to paddle, and search for atari, move all of them to subfolder... repeat for other controllers, the joystick ones were not labelled I think, so those are left. Once complete copy that entire "owned" folder structure with sorted bins to "Owned" Then go to each subfolder and delete the ones you don't have. Then I have another folder of Homebrews-Hacks that I will sort by controller. I'm using a 128meg SD card, and it only takes up 10mb total for all of them.
  8. I don't even need to duck, it is so far over my head! I haven't played it in a while, but if I remember, I could force a win on level 1 in something like 7 moves, but lose on level 2 unless by luck. I need to try that one again with my kids.
  9. Collecting for the NES is like collecting all the varieties of Lego blocks, yes some are really rare, but...
  10. Whoo Hoo! I checked the scrolling stats, and I am in 53rd place out of, let me see, 53 members!
  11. That can add a whole new level to collecting, "New,Unopened, CIB, original dated receipt"!
  12. Any plaid shirts with gold thread woven in them? I thought I was SO COOL, gradient tinted glasses and everything! Anyway, I remember playing the game where you had to make the space ship go up through the asteroids frogger like in the old Pittsburgh airport, maybe real early 1970s. The first 2600 experience was I went to my friends uncle's house late one night, it had to be 1977, and was AMAZED at how many he had. I remember playing combat and canyon bomber distinctly.
  13. Scanning all of mine, I noticed that my Fantastic Voyage is a reprint I did 10+ years ago. I would like to redo it with better printer/paper. I'll check that site for good scans. The problem I noticed is finding scans of wraparound labels.
  14. It wasn't too bad since they all have the company name somewhere in the filename. So you can search your files by "(imagic)" and move them out, then search for (paddles) and move them out... Plus for some reason, I enjoyed it! Maybe I'll take the new collection and sort it my way, then post it.
  15. I was trying to get them all the same resolution size image. That way I can make contact sheets from them all, and/or screen savers/desktops. I might just grab the images I have from the Stella CD for the Starpath ones, since the inserts are essentially perfect anyway.
  16. I just finished my second drawer, 181 done, only about 40 left, and half of those are M Network, and Starpath/Arcadia. I don't know how the heck to scan them. Maybe I'll scan manual images for the M Network.
  17. The main reason is for my own enjoyment. I scanned all of mine about 12 years ago, and I have many new ones I go recently. Plus back in the late 1990s, storage wasn't as cheap, and I scanned them in at maybe 75 DPI. Second, I want to have scans of MY carts with all of their imperfections, not someone elses if possible. Third, I can't find good high resolution scans anywhere, if I could I would make some new labels for the ones I have that are REALLY bad. (I just got to GORF, WOW is that one in bad shape!) Third, this way I can check what I have from anywhere and hopefully use scans of my dupes for trades. Finally, I hope to use them in a database of my carts, even if just an excel file. I might make a screensaver with them, or have them cycle in the side bar.
  18. I figure everytime I sit at the PC, I'll scan a few more, (not tonight though, I'm beat). Thanks about the Skydiver, I scrolled through them and thought that one looked good, both design and condition. Plus, like I've been saying in other posts, it is one of my favorites. Plus, plus, thanks to the harmony, all of my carts will wear even less now.
  19. ALL the excitement right at your fingertips! I love it! Plus it works with the Supercharger right? (It does say tapes!)
  20. I tried it that way and I can't find a way of keeping the crop size in pixels the same, plus it is hard to keep them from wiggling around. This is how I ended up doing it. I made a mask with white paper, and a couple Combat carts to keep the subject aligned. When I preview, it auto crops to the size of the mask. I though it would be easier if I setup a jig and a tripod and did digital photos, but some of the metallic ones need creative lighting... What really sucks is I just tossed an old parallel port flatbed scanner that was legal sized. You could do 8 at once on it. I also am attaching 1 scan of how they are coming out. Each picture is 1020x1161.
  21. I'm scanning them all in at 300 DPI, just the top label so far. First I'm scanning in all of my bests, 1 each title. Then maybe I'll scan 1 of each extra. It is taking me almost a minute each one, to preview, scan, save, type in the name, create subfolders... There has to be a better way, I'm only about ½ way through mine with 118 scanned, and I have been at it on and off for 3 hours, I bet 2 of it was active. I attached contact sheets of all of my Atari and Sears carts. For the most part, Atari labels seem to be in much better shape than the rest.
