Scanning all of mine, I noticed that my Fantastic Voyage is a reprint I did 10+ years ago. I would like to redo it with better printer/paper. I'll check that site for good scans. The problem I noticed is finding scans of wraparound labels.
-
I'm a bit confused by the other larger bins though.Do paddle controllers fit those?
-
It would be awfully nice if someone would host an archive that's been pre-sorted and renamed to minimize duplication of effort.
It wasn't too bad since they all have the company name somewhere in the filename. So you can search your files by "(imagic)" and move them out, then search for (paddles) and move them out...
Plus for some reason, I enjoyed it!
Maybe I'll take the new collection and sort it my way, then post it.
-
Starpath ones scan just like normal, really. I'd scan the insert and side A on the tape in one pass. And yes, they, too, are subject to Actiplaque, unfortunately.
I was trying to get them all the same resolution size image. That way I can make contact sheets from them all, and/or screen savers/desktops.
I might just grab the images I have from the Stella CD for the Starpath ones, since the inserts are essentially perfect anyway.
-
I just finished my second drawer, 181 done, only about 40 left, and half of those are M Network, and Starpath/Arcadia. I don't know how the heck to scan them. Maybe I'll scan manual images for the M Network.

Just curious: What is the intent with this lengthy undertaking? Is it for cataloging purposes? Just go to sites that already have all the label scans and download the images for all your cart titles. If some are not readily available, then use the label maker software found on AA forums to make replacement images.
The main reason is for my own enjoyment. I scanned all of mine about 12 years ago, and I have many new ones I go recently. Plus back in the late 1990s, storage wasn't as cheap, and I scanned them in at maybe 75 DPI.
Second, I want to have scans of MY carts with all of their imperfections, not someone elses if possible.
Third, I can't find good high resolution scans anywhere, if I could I would make some new labels for the ones I have that are REALLY bad. (I just got to GORF, WOW is that one in bad shape!)
Third, this way I can check what I have from anywhere and hopefully use scans of my dupes for trades.
Finally, I hope to use them in a database of my carts, even if just an excel file. I might make a screensaver with them, or have them cycle in the side bar.

what a shame... Well I guess you will just have to bite the bullet and get don to it. God I would hate that. Perhaps you could enlist a couple of students from the local tech to help out for a few pennies?
Nice skydiver cart BTW

I figure everytime I sit at the PC, I'll scan a few more, (not tonight though, I'm beat).
Thanks about the Skydiver, I scrolled through them and thought that one looked good, both design and condition. Plus, like I've been saying in other posts, it is one of my favorites.
Plus, plus, thanks to the harmony, all of my carts will wear even less now.

ALL the excitement right at your fingertips! I love it! Plus it works with the Supercharger right? (It does say tapes!)
-
I bet you could get 6 titles layed on the scanner on each pass then just crop or cut out each one.. Unless your doing that already?? BTW no need to do the preview scan it's a waste of time because once set up you wont need to do it..
I tried it that way and I can't find a way of keeping the crop size in pixels the same, plus it is hard to keep them from wiggling around. This is how I ended up doing it.
I made a mask with white paper, and a couple Combat carts to keep the subject aligned. When I preview, it auto crops to the size of the mask. I though it would be easier if I setup a jig and a tripod and did digital photos, but some of the metallic ones need creative lighting...
What really sucks is I just tossed an old parallel port flatbed scanner that was legal sized. You could do 8 at once on it.
I also am attaching 1 scan of how they are coming out.
Each picture is 1020x1161.
-
I'm scanning them all in at 300 DPI, just the top label so far.
First I'm scanning in all of my bests, 1 each title. Then maybe I'll scan 1 of each extra. It is taking me almost a minute each one, to preview, scan, save, type in the name, create subfolders...
There has to be a better way, I'm only about ½ way through mine with 118 scanned, and I have been at it on and off for 3 hours, I bet 2 of it was active.
I attached contact sheets of all of my Atari and Sears carts.
For the most part, Atari labels seem to be in much better shape than the rest.

Or did you perhaps mean Tooth Protectors?

We should support recycling. Ship one of our extra Combats, whenever a Homebrew is purchased. Actually, the most extras I have are Bezerk...

That's really cool. What's intended to go into the bigger compartments on the other side from the games?
With the nitches in the bottom corners, I was thinking controllers, and the cable would come out in the corner.

Looks like a typo, I'll fix that. I'll also look through the Atarimania and see what's missing, thanks.
..Al
I just posted it in the rarity guid tracker, I guss it can be deleted!
Thanks. Also, I am enjoying going through the guide lately, what is the official/best way to report something incase I find another typo?
You now know who Al is

YES I DO!

I always liked the open-endedness of both Adventure and Superman. You could play the game the "right" way or you could experiment. And as others have mentioned, there was nothing else like these games at the time of their release.
I just today completed Adventure on level for the first time ever! I never bothered to map out the hidden mazes, and I admit I used a map form the internet. What was a bummer was, I never killed any of the dragons. Damn bat took the sword, and I never found it. So that is a good example of the open endedness, you don't have to kill. (But I really did want to!)

I don't understand how to play Sky Diver(the little parachute people keep falling to the ground)
Sky Diver is one of my favorites.
Push the button to jump from the plane, then pull down to upen your parachute. Then steer left or right to land on the pad that matches your color. Watch the flag for wind direction and speed.
The longer you free fall, the more points a landing is worth, up to a maximum of 11 points. I think you get -4 points for not opening your chute, and 0 if you land, but miss the pad.
Great head to head game, especially on game 5 where only the first person on the middle pad get's any points.

I was glad to just get a 6 switch. I'll probably hack it up (not aesthetically, just some improvements like jack for output signal instead of permanent wire, pause, maybe A/V mod) I didn't know what the sears carts would be with the missing end label, he thought they were football and baseball I think. I knew one wasn't because of the "Timed Games and Untimed Games". Either way, I knew I didn't have them in sears what ever they were. The worst thing was HOLY CRAP was Mt. Washington (Part of Pittsburgh, PA) crippled with the snow! All those narrow streets with parked cars. I almost bailed with no where to park.
-
Probably just a typo; mine is 119 as well. Send a note to Al and he can fix it up
Cheers, FBI figured it was a typo, but I honestly don't know who Al is! I just joined the forums a couple weeks ago.

Circus Atari and Night Driver, I can't play right now since my paddles are jittery and Combat I was able to play for the first time when a friend came over a few weeks ago. Good stuff.
A good thing to try for jittery paddles is to simply turn them back and forth continiously. The wiper contact will usually clean itself off from the friction. Keep turning them for a minute or so, and try it. If you notice that they jitter in a certain area, just work on that portion or the rotation.

Both show Model #: 49-75114 in the description, but my cart and the images say Model #: 49-75119
Is this just a typo in the database?
