  1. Thank you very much. Now I need to learn more. I read through the Batari Basic introductory pages, and will hopefully be able to start there. If I fail miserably, I will submit my idea to the masses, and let someone with more knowledge of Ataris to implement. What I want to do I was able to with a TRS-80 back in the day via interpreted basic, but different IO method.

    Thanks again!

  2. I have an idea for a 2600 program but it would need to be able to output a signal. The program wouldn't be all that advanced, and I might be able to do it with the batari basic. I have NO CLUE about programming a 2600, but I have programmed in Basic from TRS80 up to Visual Basic.

  3. I chose the world record, if I had a uber rare game, I would probably sell it to buy a bunch of games I don't have instead. I would rather have 50 $2 games, than 1 $100 game. And I will probably never have all of the under $10 valued games... Like Dirty Harry says, "A man's got to know his limitations..."

My friend and I were big time into Q*bert back in the day, and he had the world record. (For about 2 weeks, he got beat before it was even published) 18 million or so, took 39 hours in a 7-11. Ah, the 80s!

    That's a lot of hoppin'! :o

Personally, I always gave up at the 2-3 hour mark, but can play as long as I was awake. After playing that long, he could not see several colors at all, was EXTREMELY easy to aggitate, and he slept for over a day after. It was quite entertaining, during and after!

  4. Very impressive! How is battery life with that old high current ICUs?

The whole thing including the screen and sound at max running the harmony cart...around .9amps at 3.7V (voltage for a single lithium cell). Not that bad.

Not bad at all, 2-3 hours from good 3xNiMh AAAs if used. Off the top of my head, not sure how much MAH lithiums have.

  6.

Yes sir. This is one of those games, I had a good feeling about after buying it,

I even looked at VGC website when he first reviewed Reactor, it had a rating of 'B.'

Then sometime later it fell to a disasterous F. I even emailed Dave twice asking if he could

try it again, he did! but once again he failed to give the game the credit it deserves.

ANOTHER F.. common' now, I'd say even if you find Reactor very flawed or unfun

it shouldn't go lower then C or D. 'F' to me, is for games that fail in every sense.

Like slot machine or space jockey.

I felt let down with Reactor, I liked the arcade version a LOT, and it's music called people over to watch. And I have a roller controller and it just doesn't cut it on reactor, like the arcade one. It is a good game, but mainly I was upset that it almost mocked the arcade version, not mimicked it.

  7. ...one of those loonies that still says we never landed on the moon.
Actually, E.T. didn't land ON the moon, he went IN FRONT OF the moon. It was in the movie; I saw it.

    ---edit---

OK, now, who will be the one-thousandth customer to post in this thread? The winner is...

Now that was funny! And I wish I saw it last night, and I could be the 1000.... well, lets see who the 1K person will be. (as in 1024)

  8. Here's the one I use on my phone. It's just a generic excel sheet I made before I knew about this site. It contains everything under US Released Games on Digit Press. I also have spreadsheets for the 5200, INTV, and NES if anyone wants those. Then on my spreadsheet I just mark C,I(or I1 for instructions I2 for insert),B in the own column.

    2600.xls

Also nice! I like the year released, now if we had the two combined with variations and year of release... ;-)

I also started to keep mine on my smart phone just in case.

  9. You can use the Excel spreadsheet I made.

It should work Palm / Blackberry / etc. (I think).

    2600_for_everyone.zip

I just looked at it, very nice. It is very similar to what I made myself, but without label variations. I also have seperate columns for Cart, Instructions, and Box. Then an if statement that marks the ones I have a cart, but no insructions, and instructions, but no cart.

I might redo it by starting with yours, and adding the other columns, and using a quantity instead of "X" and use it to also track duplicates.

  10.

I always wondered, if I was able to find enough of these devices, would I be able to daisy-chain them together in order to plug in every game I have, so I could choose any game without wearing out the connectors?

That would look pretty cool, wouldn't it?

If it worked, that would be way cool! And think of the messy room you would end up with!

  11. I had a gameline back in the day, and remember actually downloading games on it, I thought most sucked at the time, I remember DataAge off hand. Anyway, it has long since been gone, I do have a manual for it left though!

  12. @all:

    thanks for the infos.

    Are you kidding me!!?

This is the missing link, like finding Lucy as an ancsestor. In the past I've looked at all the Challenge roms out there. I drawed a diagram of how they all link together from what I saw in the roms. You can see that here:

    http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/103737-2600-rom-comparisions-and-dumps/page__view__findpost__p__1607377

    My prediction:

If this rom is dumped and played in Stella, you'll see the following MD5 number when you go into game properties.

    5652621b2eb07bf5165a985f2a2f4bdc

There should be at least a few people in Germany that could dump this for you Schitti.

wow, i had never thought that his will be a pice of so much interest.

if i think about what i have paied for, is this a very good catch.

good to know that i was faster as eagleeye-dino or eagleeye-staberinde and all the others  (this time)

i know that there are some german guys can help me with a dump, but i'm looking for a rom dumper for myself. in my collection are some games i have to dump and check back to know which version they are.

The Halley's Comet label was just my guess.

I knew it would exist, but didn't know exactly what label type it would have.

This is truly an excellent find and could very well be the original version of Challenge.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Would really appreciate a scan.

    Dump would be perfect.

Also, a picture like the link above showing the end label would be nice too

    8)

here is a scan and a photo with endlabel.

i hope it is good enough. please check !

Go STEELERS! That is interesting indeed.

  13. Looks like a CB Radio Antenna connector.

Yep, now that I think about it, looks just like the antenna jack on my old Uniden. Pioneer 4x4 seems to have nailed it.

CB radios use PL-259. There are others similar I think, but different sizes.

Damn, am I dating myself, refferring to CB Radios on a Atari site! I feel like "Never left the '70s guy..."

  15. Just a note to say hi, I just joined yesterday, but have been using this site for YEARS. I have a couple 4 switch, a JR, a 7800, 2 superchargers, about 210 unique titles, 160 unique instructions, and maybe 20 boxes...

I also have one of the original Stella gets a new brain CD's, and it is kinda odd, it has "010" on the disk in gold paint pen, and "Do what thou wilt..." on the CD Cover. I traded a guy for it in Europe back when then first went out of production in the 90's. Does anyone know how it affects it's value? It is open/used as well as the booklet.

Anyway, I just decided to get back into collecting by picking up another boxed 4 switch with 13 CIB games, and all controllers, most common, maybe Coconuts was the least common, 4 I didn't have all for $20!

I really want a 6 switch, but I am toooo cheap. You NEED one for phaser patrol and it's awesome scrolling shields!
