    Fire Barrel 211,800

    I've never really cared for the R-Type games. Fire Barrel is fun though. I played it with .106 with the sound off :)

    Yeah on MAME32 Fire Barrel has horrible sound (the same short sound repeats over and over) :mad:

    it is best played with sound off :thumbsup:

    and the high score screen is messed up ( it's not centered and doesn't show the scores for 9th and 10th place ). :(

     

    The 100% working fire barrel required MAME 0.140u3 and higher.

     

    Pat--I'm a bit surprised you haven't stepped in yet to pwn our asses at Bank Pankic. :)

     

    I will post some scores later today ... including Bank Panic of course :)

    There is a bug where you stop getting free guys at some point, or at least there was on my cart. At around 1,800,000 I dropped down to 4 guys remaining and never got another extra guy for the rest of my game.

     

    Great score.

    Do you also play the arcade version or any other port?

    Have you tried the Faster, Harder more challenging Qbert?

     

     

    I will try to beat your score tonight ... if I have the time.

    At the same time I will see if I have the same behavior (free guys) on my cart.

    I don't know if this might be a clue but with my copy, when the game is over, it goes to the selection screen a few seconds after.

    It might also be because I've moved the joystick ... I don't know!

    I Tried to record the full game using Youtube but the recording was stopped after a while.

    I recorded the last 30 minutes of my game. From about 950K to 1.3M

    It's not a good segment. I was very sleepy ... I stopped playing at around 1AM.

    The quality is not that good either.

     

    Note: I swear a few time in this video but it's in French ... French Canadian ... Québecois :)

    Some tips...

     

    In rooms with laser guns in the corners, take at least one of them out immediately, and then destroy two other ones from a safe angle. The single remaining gun is no threat.

     

     

    Thanks for the tips.

     

    I think that if you shoots the 4 guns, they will not reappear when you enter the room again.

    For example, if you get 3 out of 4 then exit the room and enter the room again, the 4 guns will be back.

    This is how it is in the arcade version.
