  1. It’s on one of the Colecovision groups so you may need to be a member to view; check out the comments section. https://www.facebook.com/596195503873576/posts/pfbid0cHjLCQuE7vsoJdRawonYXp7a5N5HNxTpRMq4WsQmKUvAcqcgaDFZcFfvJt9qzPYDl/?app=fbl
  2. FYI apparently they have resolved the “Phoenix” issue and are about to open up orders again and will allow existing owners to send in their carts for the updated version (this is according to their Facebook post)
  3. As an ex-Amiga guy, I really liked Superfrog but really loved James Pond II: Robocod. I get why Superfrog didn't hit big but was really surprised Robocod didn't do better; if I recall it also appeared on the consoles too. Been a long time, maybe I'm wearing rose tinted glasses here
  4. I love necro-posts like these, some incredible finds. Just going back a few posts, I didn't know about Vanguard II, so checked it out on youtube and man was I disappointed, not a big miss. Then there is the "so bad, it's ... well it's REALLY bad" category we have "Tattoo Assassins". I can't believe Data East put this out. It's slow, it looks like amateur hour and it has fart attacks and what looks like a poop fatality. Wow! I'm def going to have to go back to post #1 to check out everything I may have missed!
  5. I believe I read somewhere the title will be available on the XBOX One via their cloud service, the same way XBOX their games will work on android/iOS. IE: depending on where you live, your internet connection, the experience could be “good enough” to “ugh, this ain’t right”
  6. Add star control 2 to that list, one of the greatest games ever
  7. I had the 3DO, bought GEX on release and really did like it. I think you already laid out why it did well. You have to compare it with other titles from that era and when you do, you see it was (I think) the FIRST platformer that had talking, which was pretty varied. The sticking to walls mechanic also brought a bit more novelty to the platformer IE: it used the CD platform well and it WAS funny, at least to a early-mid 90’s gamer. It’s not anywhere near the best platformer ever but it brought something new to the new generation of consoles and was fun. If it had come out prior to Super Mario 64 and Crash Bandicoot, it may not have done as well. Timing is everything
  8. Wow, nothing will ever top that epic Wonder Boy / Adventure Island post; glad I checked this out. In the spirit of the thread, I do have an entry to submit. Stellar 7 (Battlezone inspired game) which came out originally on 8 bit systems (I played it on the Apple 2 back in the day). It was then remade for the Amiga/PC and maybe MACOS under the same name but with enhancements (end of level boss, cut scenes). It was then later released with more spit and polish for the 3DO (Stellar 7: Draxon’s Revenge), which is my favorite version of this game And then fans were greeted with the sequel Nova 9: the return of Gir Draxon, again for the Amiga/PC/Mac In both cases, the number references to the “star systems” contained within the game (IE: levels, so Stellar 7 has 7 levels, Nova 9 has 9). Note: Apparently Arcticfox falls within the same series, therefore is seen as a sequel to Stellar 7. Skyfox and Skyfox II: the Cygnus conflict are part of the same series as Arcticfox yet are not referenced as part of the Stellar 7 series. Ouch The Stellar 7 and Nova 9 games were developed by one of my favorite devs: Dynamix, who were responsible for many titles that breached many different genres. Classics like “Red Baron” and A10 Tank Killer (flight Sims), “Abrams Battle Tank” (tank sim), “Rise of the Dragon”, “Heart of China” (adventure), The Incredible Machine (puzzle), “Caveman ughlympics” (track and field type of game). I miss them, especially their flight sims and the adventure games where they showed that cinematically speaking, they were ahead of their time
  9. Thank you so much. Mahjong is the type of game that will still be fun 30 years from now; I never tire of it!
  10. Very happy with the rom vault, thanks all @ CollectorVision
  11. Got mine earlier this week too! Looks good, thanks!
  12. I am way behind in trying these out, busy life and all but wanted to take a second to thank you Luc for your gifts. Good luck with your future endeavors!
  13. A little late to the party but just wanted to let people know if you have a pcvr headset it also works in VR! it’s a fantastic VR game; it shows this was a labor of love
  14. Thanks to all for jumping in and thanks to Collectorvision for being so generous in your offering. There is no better value per $ with what you are offering here
  15. Looks like there was a wave of new memberships last night, can’t wait for updated totals!
  16. Hey JF at exactly what time is the deadline? Ie 11:59pm eastern time Jan 17th?
  17. I was able to order dragons lair last week. Still no idea when it will shut but that’s ok, just glad I was able to get one and replicade has done it justice. Just wish there was a way to add in DL2 and Space Ace but I’m greedy that way
  18. It’s a fair point to suggest there is way better value for the Xbox series X. In saying that we are talking about 500gb difference between the two. Anyone who feels they will need to add another 1 TB will likely feel they need to do so for the series X as well, maybe just a bit quicker. For this reason I don’t feel you will spend less money on the series X in the long run Personally I hope they release a 2TB drive. I’m a gaming hog and lazy bastard therefore I want as much space as possible. I’m not rich so I do hope these drives become much larger and more affordable
  19. PEople don’t complain when its in their favor but they certainly will when it’s against them. I dont hear a lot of God of War, Spider-man, Last of Us etc fans complain that their game isn’t available on the competitions’ console. Same with Halo/Gears of War from Xbox fans. It is what it is. Not everyone is made out of money but I’ve bought both the PS4 and the XBox One (X when it launched too) for that very reason, it’s part of the game and I’m fortunate to have been able to afford it. In saying that, I’ve still not pre-ordered the system and won’t until I see something that is that damn good. At this moment and time, “reduced loading times” are an insufficient carrot to motivate me into buying either system though I’d think about it more if it came with a 2 terabyte min drive. You are almost guaranteed to need to spend at least another couple of hundred bucks to buy that extra SSD drive.
  20. There were quite a lot of great dreamcast titles. IMHO it’s still the best console to play Sega’s arcade titles and a few 3rd party games are awesome too Dreamcast Titles that are just flat out great: Ikaruga Virtua Tennis 1 & 2 NFL 2K2 Crazy Taxi 1 & 2 NBA 2K San Francisco Rush 2049 Resident Evil Code Veronica Soul Calibur Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 Jet Grind Radio Ferrari F355 Challenge Metropolis Street Racer V-Rally 2 Re-Volt Test Drive LeMans Sega Rally 2 Daytona USA 2001 Sega GT (what can I say? I love racing games and Dreamcast had plenty of them!) 18 Wheeler (see?) Virtua Fighter 3tb Sword of the Beserk Shenmu 1 and 2 Dynamite Cop Hydro Thunder Tony Hawk 2 Grandia 2 Skies of Arcadia Ready to Rumble 1 & 2 Samba de Amigo Speed Devil (sue me, I love it!) Dead or Alive (or was it #2?) Cannon Spike Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver Space Channel #5 Power Stone 1 & 2 Typing of the Dead House of the Dead 2 Chu Chu Rocket NFL Blitz 2000 Demolition Racer There are also multitude of excellent 2D fighters that deserve to be mentioned too like Marvel vs Capcom, SFIII 3rd strike, etc. And I don’t recall ever trying Spirit of Speed 1937 so guess what I gotta do now? Anyway this is mostly just at the top of my head with a small google assist. I’m forgetting some titles. Blue Stinger was a good game but I’d say a really good launch game. Seriously pound for pound, the Dreamcast library may not be extensive but it represents an era that is gone for good, the days of arcade conversions that were not seen as a “casual b title”. Soul Calibur is still my favorite fighting game (not that I’m the biggest fan of the genre, but that’s probably why I love it so much). In an alternate universe, EA supported the Dreamcast and the Dreamcast was not Sega’s last console.
  21. I've always thought he's not missing a mid-section, it's his fancy belt. When you don't see the belt, it's because his arm gets in the way?
  22. Well today is a new day lol https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-09-21/microsoft-to-buy-bethesda-studios-for-7-5-billion-to-boost-xbox
  23. LOL I’d forgotten about that clone, it was fun back in the day. I love threads like these for this very reason, brings back a whole other memories associated with them too.
  24. I’ve been messing with FS2020 and IMHO it’s absolutely mind blowing fantastic. I really like the “landing challenges” it has too and the hunt for the leaderboards. The graphics at ultra settings are jaw dropping. Seriously I agree with what one of the posters said earlier, this is one of those titles that will be seen as a defining moment in our hobby. I’ve been a fan of Sublogic Flight Simulator since the Apple II days, even bought a 16k expansion card just so I could get two more camera angles for that game (the wing tip cameras if I recall lol). BTW, even though I have a flight yoke and also the Saitek X-55 Rhino, I’ve only played it so far with the xbox controller and it plays fine. Of course it will play better but I’ve been so busy with work lately I’ve been too lazy to set up the yoke. Embarrassing, I know lol
  25. Although I don’t use it anymore (just no time to play everything), its still a great console and the majority of the games still look great. I think it still has some great games including an awesome version of Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast. Loved Crimson Skies on that system, don’t understand how that didn’t develop into a series on future xbox consoles. I can only imagine their stats showed it wasn’t played much via backwards compatibility and that’s too bad, the online was super fun too.
