  1. I dunno, to me if someone isn't comfortable with using a command line, I can't see that they'll be up for making and editing batch files. Belboz's FE would be the solution. Also, I think your 2nd batch file will result in a green screen, not much point resetting the jaguar when you've just filled it's memory with your bjl or similar file There's only 1 command and one switch to learn for general use, I think anyone should be capable of that. Using batch files over-complicates something really trivial I reckon, but maybe it really would work for some people... but they'd have to be seriously computer-illiterate to have that kind of fear of a command prompt... and we're back to Belboz's FE being the way to go (that or just keep away from anything with lights and buttons ).
  2. Really simple to use. Once the software is installed, it's just a matter of typing 'jcp filename.ext' for bjl type stuff (most of the homebrews are like this, load into the jag's memory) or 'jcp -f filename.rom' to flash stuff to the cart. There's more to it than that if you're up for it and there's a 2nd bank (so you can have 2 games on the cart at once). Belboz made a windows front end for jcp (and osx I think), so if you're not into command line stuff you'd probably be happier with that. I had news of my skunks today - Parcel Force want over £56 in import taxes before I can have them and since the card only came today there's no time to make it happen before I set off for ejagfest. Bah EDIT: There are other solutions to running homebrews such as a BJL mod or a Jag CD drive with something like ULS or Belboz's BJL CD. skunk is easily the most user-friendly and powerful though.
  3. Well I should have mine for eJagfest it's currently at a secure Birmingham location, so you should have at least 2 boards sh3 for e-Jagfest. aww, my other skunk is coming home \o/ 2 skunks & a jagware flash cart should be enough to get by with if I make use of bank 2 on one of skunks. cheers!
  4. Was hoping mine would arrive before ejagfest so I didn't have to keep swapping carts over... oh well, suppose I can take my notebook and remember the usb hub or risk having to endure some 7k/sec 'action'
  5. lol : arse/elbow Halloween features a Wasp bad-guy because GroovyBee's gfxer is lazy and doesn't make time to help him out - it's called Work In Progress for a reason. Halloween is nothing like the same kind of game as Wasp. But then you probably already know that and are taking yet another opportunity to whine about GB and/or the XM. I suggest you stick to watching 7800 videos from the 80s & fap yourself silly in raptures of nostalgia if that's what gets you off. 1UP.

    Kobayashi Maru!

It's more of a UK corner if it's like last year Linko with his stuff, gaz with his Freeze cojag arcade a nd games/boxes and now groovybee with his 7800/xm stuff and I'm sure OMF will have some stuff to look at and I'll be there with ours, wow it's going to be a busy little show
  7. $116ish. Apparently there might be a few available down the line as they're holding on to some to cover any potential problems with getting the skunks to their new owners. Before the skunk III run, apparently up to 3x the original price (that's probably for a skunk II rather than the first one). Now, probably somewhere North of the price of the skunk III. There are still people who want one who missed out on this latest run. I was lucky to spot the chance to order a few recently (for members of our group) when the producers had the amazing news that every single piece worked OK, quite pleased about that! My advice is get it into the hands of someone who wants to make use of it producing games.
  8. Looking forward to it, but even more interesting was this bit lower down: Hope they're games!
  9. That's the official Jaguar Peritel/SCART cable. I've had 5 different types of SCART lead so far but none have been very robust. The official one has been best, but I've had problems with the scart plug cover coming apart and one of them has stereo sound issues. The three ribbon type home made ones have all been pretty crappy. The other one I've had since the Jaguar was new, it's a bit flakey & was yet another botchy home-made thing. I do a lot of switching around of cables to test of different machines etc., so I'm probably giving them a bit more stick than they normally would get. I'd say if you do that stay well away from the ribbon type ones, they fail as soon as you look at them. Next time I'm trying one of these.

    Why CRY?

Yes and it was pretty interesting stuff, actually.
  12. I hope no one minds me dreding up an old thread but I discovered this overlay via googling and as I'm a member on the forum I thought I'd ask about custom overlays, are there many around? and whats the best way to produce them? Would you literally just print it off on paper? thanks http://jfuk.co.uk/
  13. Looking for a CR pad, must work fine but general condition not that important. Needed by coder for testing/development on Jaguar and Falcon (one game coming out in October, one in November). I'm in the UK, he's in Greece, the closer the better for shipping as it's fairly urgent. May be interested in other rotaries other than Tyrant/JA (we have enough of those), just send me a PM with what you have & what you want shipped - cheers!
  14. Yep, there's few borderline titles that come close on one or two counts, but nothing I can think of (off the top of my head) that really has enough of the necessary ingredients like character customisation and classes, multiple weapon/magic specialities and upgrades/other item/inventory trinkets and armour and so on, exp/leveling, story quests and sub-quests, battles with at least some tactical elements, etc... basically there's got to be lots of numbers involved Adventure games are often much more superficial and lack the depth RPG fans crave instead of just the exploration, adventuring and puzzle-solving. RPGs should really let you play the game again as a different class or in another different way somehow and leave you with with a chance of a different experience and a different outcome, then they're living up to the name.
  15. LOL, sorry, didn't mean to frighten you with my 2-week old post, it must have taken you that long to get over it & pluck up the courage to reply. I call out Jag_Slave for drama each and every time I see him trying to infest these forums with it. Want fries with that?
  16. Whoa, it seems you've got a touch of the old daveyitis there, CJ. Leave poor CAPSLOCK2K to his drama. Sorry CL2K, no offense intended, have a Big Mac on me
  17. Then you must have missed the pinned topic above this one: I'm supposing that includes posting videos about pirated games by someone who delights in finger pointing and calling people pirates based on fibs.
  18. Yet you didn't feel the need to post it here like a little drama whore bitch... there's hope for you yet Why not take your drama shit somewhere else where they give a flying fuck? How about giving a try to posting something that is positive and productive rather than your shit-stirring and begging?

    Why CRY?

I'd hazard a guess that you didn't understand as much as you thought you did. Why not break them up into 1x1 images for 256 TIMES MOAR POWA?! You could maybe render that at 240 or 120fps?
  20. The only guarantee is that it will not.

    Why CRY?

You're making a game that's based on lights - you're not going to get a better chance, surely
  22. Google translate seems a bit iffy for pages 2 & 3, I can only see them in German. Had to rip the text & translate it separately. Anyway, nice read. Cheers, Heiko
  23. I read recently that some decade-old PC real time/strategy games used them for rendering the units, not sure where it was I read it now though. There's a preview of a pure voxel game on YouTube called that looks quite interesting - nice and retro yet 3d and fun, not a common combination.
  24. I was referring to your post above "Excellent, we'll be taking lots of pics." And 'little kev'...seriously? That's what we can expect from the editor of the World's Only Monthly Atari Magazine is it? Nice. I guess the Propola virus has spread further than I thought, but at least you earned yourself a vitrual handjob from Stevo for that one, big up yerself yer sofcun yer.
