Thanks for the feedback - you're not the only person to dislike the numbers in that build, I think we all do
-
That will be different in the final game, both size & appearance. They are CRY light maps, they blend with the game objects rather than obstruct them, but in that build they are too bright and too large.

Just here to bump this thread - there's been a couple of updates on subqmod's site

A Jaguar game with Parallax scrolling
sh3-rg replied to José Pereira's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Learned a few things reading this thread: Open development is interesting. It seems great for getting input from all kinds of people, giving you ideas and pointing you in directions you might not have considered otherwise. Open development is crap. People won't STFU and let you get on with making your baby your way Love the work that's being done here, looking forward to playing the finished game and seeing where it ends up. -
Not sure if many people stayed on the steem mailing list - got this email earlier: Hi, we've finally released Steem's source code as open source under GPL3. You can find the code of the current release here: http://code.google.com/p/steem-engine/ - with a few tweaks to help it compile against newer version of the libraries. See the windows-build and X-build folders for build instructions and let us know if you're interested in forking the source. Enjoy! Anthony and Russell Hayward

Yes, read the blue text at the top of their website...

Neo is busy with other things away from Jaguar, CJ is busy with other Jaguar things.

Were you reading post #33 in this thread when this occurred?

It'll be a green light if it's a UK Jag, but that's all good advice. I'll add to make sure you have a cart in firmly! If you're still struggling...

Someone might already be working on a very cool version of SF for the 8-bit Ataris -
Yea, let JiFFI try to spot what your mystery .JAG files are or do some trial & error if you've got lots of free time to burn - Jagulator works fine with ROMs that have been renamed to .JAG as long as they are loaded as a ROM.
-
There's a few different file types disguised by the '.JAG' extension, I think some ROM collections have all files renamed to that or maybe someone just decided it'd be a great way to confuse people as they could be pretty much anything Maybe your best bet is to experiment with some renaming of files or see if JiFFI can detect some of them for you and give you a hint as to what they really should be. Or possibly name a few of the titles here & see if anyone wants to volunteer some infos as to how you might get somewhere with them.

Downfall Jaguar game ST conversion?
sh3-rg replied to oky2000's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Like reading one of your posts, pperror... Fancy you having a dig at something CJ made, who'd have thought that?! As for as ST conversion of DF, it's something GGN has considered (well, possibly Falcon or both) but he's working on other, more interesting game stuff for the ST right now. -
Saw the front page news & status page/photos updates on the site earlier, FE & slightly better compatibility for 2.0.2 later today?

All the background layers move faster than the platforms, that's what the platforms to Hell are like... some kind of weird elevator BTW, those with a sharp eye might recognise those background rocks from somewhere else, only 90 degrees rotated and a bit of speedy colour tinkering... -

Since it doesn't look like SubQMod is posting the news on AA (he's clearly too busy coding!), here goes... Version 2.0.0 of his emulator, Jagulator, is almost ready for release. In his youtube video you can see the emulator running many commercial game ROMs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAO1-oEJwRo Not sure if it will include any tools for debugging or is just a straight emulator but the compatibility looks decent. Keep an eye on his site, it was updated earlier today with further fixes & better compatibility than the version shown in the video yesterday

Is it against the rules to play CJ's patched controls version?!

There was a site where the guy seemed to want to make a little community out of making Jag video CDs, it was linked in this thread. It never looked to take off and it appears it's now gone (it's possible it moved somewhere else, but I've not seen any sign of it anywhere).

Robinson's Requiem now available for the Jaguar CD
sh3-rg replied to Songbird's topic in Atari Jaguar
It's more like he said his direct port of the PC game wasn't fast enough on the Jaguar (not surprising considering the way Silmarils games were constructed). Both he & the 3do programmer decided to scrap it for their own routines put together with their target hardware in mind. Take a look at 'Electrons at Work' by TEK for the Amiga - that shows what a 68k based machine can do with voxels when asked nicely. -

Zero, any chance you could locate that small interview with the Jaguar coder of RR? I read it recently (it was linked from a post on yaro). It answered some of the questions and also confirmed and disproved a few assumptions made in previous posts. -
It's a shame that there's no mileage with light gun stuff these days since modern screens don't work with them, something like Point Blank would be dead simple to get going on the Jaguar and lots of fun multi-player but who's going to want to keep a bulky old CRT around just for one or two games.. (OK, before loads of people shout "me!" I admit that some freaks like remowilliams do just that).

It's not surprising really considering the curvature and the rough plastic (the area that is supposed to have stickers on a Jag cart is perfectly smooth, unlike the rest that is made to be more tactile). There's bound to be some kind of product that will sit them down & have them stay there, not sure how the existing adhesive would affect that though.
