Similarly, ignore the 16k+ LIKEs on facebook - they are beyond meaningless. If that's the extent of the market research, it's not going to be much fun going forward. -
nice one junosix. I scanned some of my dealer-side material a few years ago, but unfortunately I don't think Albert has much time to update that kind of stuff these days. I know right now he's especially busy preparing for PRGE. Thanks for sharing!

Not a lot of people know that Silent Hill was originally a Jaguar title. Toyama was a big Jaguar fan BITD and prototyped what went on to become the game we all know and fear using a stub Jaguar, an Alpine board, 3 yards of insulating tape and several buckets of Vaseline. Yamaoka was also the first person to successfully rip the Tempest 2000 mod player, well before SInister Developments, and actually composed all the audio that is present in the PS game in MadTracker on the PC. If you don't believe me, I can bootleg some video of the PlayStation game from YouTube, get someone to make a cinepak disc (because I'm too pigshit thick to do it for myself) and sell it to you for £25 a pop - what more evidence would someone need? For £64 each, I can produce a Special Edition version where I turn on "best quality" mode on my inkjet printer for that truly professional look and use branded CD-R media with extra glossy stick-on labels. Atari Jaguar - You want in? You really want in?

This thread is great.

I always get the LEs of these when I can. Crap thing here is they sold out quick and made a load more, so hardly all that "limited". They don't usually go on sale too quick and there's n Vita version later on so maybe this one holds its price a little better. I'm stuck with the demo, the game got delayed over here. The first one was brilliant, really daft humour but also well judged and expertly acted. Nothing has really lived up to that story-wise for me since, but the story is such a tiny fraction of the whole package that really doesn't matter too much. And do you ever really finish them? :0) I got a platinum or maybe two, spent over 300 hours on one of them, but there's always too much to do. Last one I think it got shelved after a couple of hundred hours and didn't come back out, but then one thing I do not do is play them at all hyper efficiently. Following those guides to the letter might be fun for some, some people play these games in such an anal, strict way, but that's just not my idea of fun. What I like about them is you can switch up what you're doing at any one time and it never gets boring plus some of the real hard grind in the earlier games has been whittled away in favour of newer more fruity grinding that's not so monotonous and a bit more appealing to a wider audience.

Feature Request - Sprite scale origin variables

OK, so if you want to place a scaled sprite centred at x=160: bingo=32-x_scale RSETOBJ(web,R_sprite_x,(160-(sprite_width/2)+(bingo*2))<<16) something like that? -

x_off is just the x position, sorry for that wording, it makes sense in my game but not typed out here. The stuff I posted doesn't take account of sprite width, it's only concerned with the scale factor vs the coordinate. If you wanted to position an object centrally on a given x coordinate, you'd offset what I did by half the sprite width... so e.g. with a 64-wide sprite you'd subtract 64/2 from your x position. -

Why do you need to know the centre? That's probably the bit I'm not 100% on... maybe in some circumstances it's good to know the centre, I thought the issue was keeping a sprite centered as it scales. -

Was just looking at scaled stuff and wanted to position an object centrally as a few different things throw values at the scale factor every frame. I remembered this thread but thought I'd muck about anyway. I found that, to position my spite centrally in x, if I did this: bingo=32-scale_factor ' normalise scale factor to 0 (probably the wrong term, a long time since I needed to know these things), 32 being 1:1 x_pos=x_offset+(bingo*2) ...that seems to place it where I want it and was working for scale values of 8 to 128. If anyone wants to give that a go and see if it works OK for their needs, that would be nice, and if not there's probably something close we can figure out that will. The actual code from my game is this: bingo=32-x_scale RSETOBJ(web,R_sprite_x,(x_off+(bingo*2))<<16) -
Thank you Jeff Minter. All hail the Yak. King of the Webs.

And you get to use Jeff's proto/prerelease pro controller... all thanks to a GGN tweet and the POWA of JiFFI :0) -

Some Surf Dog mentions around 3:45, but the interesting stuff begins at 3:49:30 Mention of current iteration of RVGS team with great emphasis on that word. "There's going to be a special show whan that concludes [iGG campaign] with a lot of details from people who are truly in the know of just what happened and how it went where it went.... in terms of what we know... we're just keeping our mouths shut and letting it runs its own course." "But I think we can talk about what is going on out there with this console and the reception. I think the words "Atomic Bomb" would maybe be understating this situation". Then mentions this thread being 122 pages, so that would be around September 28th. Following is analysis from someone close to the project, mentions being disappointed with something to do with SoCal's business decisions. The commentary on Carlsen's "proto" video is priceless. Mentions of the parody skits and alcohol. -
Thanks, GGN! Another awesome add!

Look good, but at $76.15 with delivery, before import tax/duty - I'll pass. "THANKS FOR HELPING ME OUT WITH THIS, I HAVE MINIMAL TIME TO SCREW WITH IT!" Haha, love that message!

Coming at it from a slightly more warezy/cart-free angle, but yeah, that's got a tiny bit of the RVGS kind of functionality it seems. Googled and found this site. That site mentions a user here NML32. Seems he's posted about this on AA. -
The last I remember seeing anything like that in the UK was probably 3 or 4 years earlier. The "whistle stop tour" was a train that chugged its way around the UK and had carriages full of computers and also (IIRC) third parties showing off their software and hardware. The only Jaguar stuff I half remember is the launch day Tower Records thing, and that's so fuzzy it might even have been a dream (RetroLand!).

People releasing stuff for "free" =/= free for all. If it doesn't say it's public domain/DWTFYL/CC3.0/whatever, it's NOT.

So it seems they have officially parted ways. Interestingly, on their twitter, they claim someone took back their RVGS campaign refund and donated it in whole to these guys, so there might be a tale to tell there, or maybe they thought Mike was still involved and really wanted to not have that $350 in their own pocket. Looking further down they also tweeted the SH.IT parodies and a drunk Mike video. -
