Tapes were the main media for a lot of users in Europe and the same (about slow load times) can be said about stock 1541 Disk Drives. A TurboTape file request the same time in order to be loaded when compared to a stock Commodore Disk Drive. Apart from that, just keep in mind that the +5V coming out from the C2N is port is maximum 100mA: check if the SD2IEC requires more power. Cheers, Oge

You can repair it without having to replace a single component, except if the DB9 cord is somewhere interrupted. Is it this one? http://atariage.com/forums/topic/207423-early-joystick-pcb-cx-10/ Cheers, Oge

The Datassette was so prone to external interferences that several magazines advised to put an allumium foil on its base to improve reliability when loading or saving files. Furthermore, it had an additional ground cord that a lot of people cut away though it truly improved reliability if connected to ground (e.g. a metal chassis). I suppose that this was not needed if the Datassette was built with a larger budget so no wonder that their purpose was far away from pushing the cassette technology to its limit. Cheers, Oge

For Sale: Super NES; Nintendo 64 & GameCube S-VHS Cables (Blister Sealed)
Oge replied to Oge's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
It is a Third-Party Cable which was internally enhanced for LCD compatibility and solves annoying audio noises which affects SNES output. Only one available as it took hours to do that. Cheers, Oge -
Could you post a photo of its PCB? I will tell you for sure. Cheers, Oge

Rolling screen usually indicates a problem with the Sync signal. Have you checked the capacitors?

Because, to my opinion: 1) It would have caused troubles with the production/mastering of cassettes; 2) The more the specification was distant from the standard, the more the Datassette would have costed; 3) Faster speeds would have meant the need for an improved circuitry/filtering and mechanics.. Cheers, Oge

Wiring your actual NES Gamepad for the purpose of obtaining a second Fire button for MSX usage is not recommended as Pin 7 on MSX is Button II while on Atari/Commodore machines is +5V. You will need a separate Gamepad prepared just for MSX usage. As I'm preparing a small batch of NES Gamepads converted for both Atari and Commodore Home Computers, just drop me a PM. Cheers, Oge

I can help you out with a customized Atari 7800 SCART (RGB) Cable. PM sent. Cheers, Oge

There is +5VDC coming out from a Pin which is very close to GND. You have to be careful, especially if you recicle existing Cables: if you don't carefully isolate that Pin, you end up frying something on either your Genesis or TV. I'd say that the fault is on the Cable. If not, you would have a permanent short on your Genesis which affected it regardless if a Cable was connected or not. ICs seems to be pretty sturdy, so there are good chances that your Genesis is still okay. Cheers, Oge

For Sale: Atari 2600 Deluxe Power Supply (110/220VAC)
Oge replied to Oge's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Users from Spain, Italy, France and Germany will be able to use the A2600 Deluxe Switching Power Supply without the need of any Adapter. The other ones will receive the proper one for free. Cheers, Oge -
IMHO the Composite Video is always better than RF. There is no cheap or expensive Cable since we are talking about plain Composite: there could be a degradation of the signal using a non-shielded Cable but it will be not enough to make the signal worst than RF. Cheers, Oge
-
Don't do it. You will end up ruining your A2600. Pinouts are different when comparing an Atari/C64 plain A/V Cable to a Genesis one. Cheers, Oge

I'm pretty sure that you can find one of these on a local store... They were pretty common at the time and people still use them. Being a simple switcher, one brand rather than another one will not make a difference. Cheers, Oge

I'm pretty sure that it can be repaired... And it will work better than ever
