  1. How is 10 years unrealistic. The Atari 2600 lasted 10 years and look what they were able to get out of that system or the PS2 for example. Consoles only lasting 5 years does not give developers time to get the most out of the hardware.
  2. I was wondering what are people's opinions of the Nintendo DS, are there certain game types that do not work well on the DS, what games would you recommend getting for it. Which version is the best. Also what are people's opinion of Star Fox Command. I have seen some gameplay lately and it has me intrigued. Thanks for your opinions.
  3. I went to my local one on the 26th when they were supposed to have a demo version with street fighter 4 but the guy said that Nintendo changed there mind at the last second and decided not to do that so he was letting people try the one he owned. I was surprised by that, I do not think I would let people try my handheld if they were total strangers and if it cost my 250 dollars.
  4. The Main reason I am looking at it is for the games that were only on the system like Wing commander III(love that series) too bad they have not made a modern one yet.
  5. They do have Tom Clancy's splinter cell coming out this year and Metal Gear solid 3.
  6. The thing is if I already owned a DS I would just wait for the price to go down but I do not, so I am not to sure.
  7. If you want to wait for a 3DS Lite (which I'm sure Nintendo has already completed & will sit on for a year or so), then absolutely, XL is the way to go. Contra (and every other game) looks beautiful on those giant PSOne-sized screens. The blue, yellow, and green models look really cool too, like the old Play It Loud gameboy series from the mid-90's. The 3DS is cool, but there's so much obvious room for improvement that it'd make sense to wait a while... if not for some decent games & software, then for the inevitable slick-ass redesign. And Colors was decent on the Wii, yes, but the DS version stiiiinks. If you liked Sega Racing on the Wii, you probably will like it on the DS... but why not just play Mario Kart? I only have Sega Racing for the Xbox 360 and would probably get Mario Kart also for the DS, just like the music from sega racing Plus back when I got it I did not have a Wii. I check out a local used game store to check out there prices. They said a used DS lite with charger and everything would be 90 dollars, Plus all the items they sell come with a 90 day warrenty. Is that a good price for a DS lite, how are the buttons on the XL compared to the lite, I like the Lite's D-Pad but noticed the the shoulder buttons were not that good.
  8. so you are saying that in your opinion I should get the DSI XL, I forgot to mention I have also been looking at getting contra, metal Slug 7, and nanostry 2. I have never tried sonic colors or sega racing for the DS but I own both versions for my Wii and Xbox 360 and think both console versions are great, plus sega racing is the only good cart racer on the 360. Thanks for the opinions they are really helping. Waiting for the game library to mature is exactly why I have waited on getting a DS, plus waiting for them to stop releasing better version, I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years Nintendo releases a improved version of the 3DS. Until then a DSI XL could probably hold me over(plus the games I want).
  9. I was actually thinking of either the DS lite or the DSI XL so thanks, if I were to go that route instead of getting a 3DS. that does help. Plus it gets longer battery life. (shhhh, don't tell anyone, I bought a DSi XL last weekend...) Oh.. wait.. Yeah, there are perks to buying into a DSi or a XL. For instance, if you decide to go used, you may be able to get a XL between $100 and $150 (That's over a hundred dollars less than a new 3DS). Also, you are correct--The battery life lasts a good bit longer than what's been rated on the 3DS. Lastly, if you ever wanted to use a card that enables you to use homebrew software (the R4, for instance), there are versions of those that run on DSi systems. There is no GBA port on it and it doesn't have 3D capabilities, but the massive screens, long battery life and other capabilities make it good for someone on a strict budget. What it really comes down to though is what is most-important to you (for me it was the R4 and the screens), and how much you are willing to pay. I am trying to find the best compromise between cost of hardware/value and the amount of games I can get on a strict budget(300 or so dollars this upcoming christmas). There are at least 10 DS games I am interested in and those are just the ones I have seen so far and I have not really been looking for to long. Some would be Mario and Lugio: Bowsers inside story, Rythm Heaven, sonic colors, Sonic Racing, New super Mario bros, Mario Kart, Advanced warfar,Dragon quest IX,Elite beat agents, Okamiden and a few others.
  10. Because most people are lazy, and Nintendo employed a legacy underhanded corporate intimidation tactics, much like Coca-Cola and McDonalds before them, which damaged their competition's ability to do normal business enough to guarantee their brand identity became a household name, by means of forced attrition. It had nothing to do with the "quality" of their product. Every generation of console they've released has been technologically inferior to their competition in one way or another. They just ran out of marketing muscle when Sony entered the picture. agree, exactly. Though with hand helds like the DS it does have better games.
  11. I was actually thinking of either the DS lite or the DSI XL so thanks, if I were to go that route instead of getting a 3DS. that does help. Plus it gets longer battery life.
  12. There will be plenty of games this year. So far just this year the 3DS has a larger selection of mature games then the DS ever had.
  13. PS2 was defiantly the lamest launch ever in history, Dreamcast was so much better.
  14. It was Sega and Nintendo that shaped video games, until Sony came out those were the only two successful ones and both were very close. So show some respect. Plus lets not forgot Nintendo's anti-competition practices that got them there.
  15. I am asking this question because I am not to sure if I should buy the 3DS or get another DS model(either the original or the DSI XL). The reason I ask is because I have never owned a DS even though there are games I want for it, was waiting until they were done releasing different models then they announced the 3DS. So should I just wait a year or so for the price to drop a little(really cant afford it and games at 250) and just hold off on playing the DS games I am interested in or buy a DS to hold my over for the year or two, and if I do buy a DS should I get the original fat model so I can save as much money as possible and put it towards games/3DS or a DSI XL(I have glasses so a bigger screen is always nice)once it price drops(since they have the 3DS I see the prices on DS models dropping this Christmas)either one I would probably get this Christmas. What do you guys think.
  16. The only thing I find funny about about the PSP2 is that people that complain about the price and battery life of the 3DS which is graphically stronger then the DS should really dislike the PSP2 then, the screen alone is 5 inches big and with supposedly how strong it is the price is going to be higher and the battery life will suck even more. The thing is not portable, handheld yes but so was the Atari Lynx.
  17. I was wondering, I have found out there was a un-released port of Lemmings for the Atari 8-bit. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to finish it. I was rather impressed with the credit animations and the music.
  18. I feel RPG's are a good choice like the Mass Effect series.
  19. I was looking at all the games so far that are coming out this year which includes Animal Crossing,Assassin's Creed: Lost Legacy,BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II,Bomberman 3DS, Bonk,Bust-a-Move Universe,The Conduit 3DS,de Blob: The Underground,Dead or Alive: Dimensions,Dragon Quest,Driver: Renegade,Final Fantasy,Harvest Moon 3D,Kid Icarus: Uprising,Mario Kart 3DS,Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D,Ninja Gaiden,Paper Mario,Rayman 3D,Ridge Racer 3D,Saints Row: Drive-By,Sonic the Hedgehog,Star Fox 64 3D,Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 3D,Resident Evil: Revelations. Plus some more. I would say they are getting some good third party support this time. I have been thinking of trying Wario Land out, Thanks for your opinion of it. Scratch Bomberman and Bonk; they're cancelled. They canceled bonk!, guess I will just stick with my PC engine then. They didn't cancel them... not officially yet anyway. They are evaluating the titles and some may get cancelled and others will still come out. It's up in the air at this point. thats good really hope they do not cancel bonk. That is a classic platformer and I would love to see a new version like new super mario bros, plus in 3D.
  20. Thanks for the reply's. The thing is where I am at they usually sell for more like 70 dollars. Also Saturn or 3DO?
  21. I was wondering what are people's opinion of the 3DO. The more I look into it and its games the more it seems like a system that should have done better and was very close the the PSX when it comes to power. Do you think it would have done better if the 3DO company had just released it and built it them self's so it could have been sold at a cheaper price. Out of all the consoles out then do you think it was the one that deserved to die the most. What are your general thoughts on it.
  22. I have a Xbox 360 and no it does not have any crap of this kind any where in the user agreement or any where else associated to it. One up for Xbox 360.
  23. Forza 3, Mass effect 1,2,3, Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Donkey kong country returns, Sonic colors, Rock Band 3(or Tempest 2000), BlazBlue continuum shift, Smash bros Brawl, Star Fox 64,sonic and sega all stars racing, Marvel vs capcom 3, New super mario Bros. (those are the ones I can think off of the top of my head, and about 50 percent of my collection.)

  25. The first game doesn't require high-end specs. It's written on the box as the specs. Requires only 1GHz CPU (Pentium 4), 256MB RAM, 32MB 3D Card, and DirectX8.1 or DirectX9 (I forgot). I have a 2.9GHz AMD anthlon 64 X2 2gib of system ram, and a 1Gb Saphire 3870 and I still only get low 50fps, not even a full 60 so I really doubt those specs could run it.
