  1. I have one of these:

    https://shop.xgaming.com/collections/arcade-joysticks/products/x-arcade-dual-joystick-usb-included?gclid=CjwKCAiA1ZDiBRAXEiwAIWyNCwdq_4MC_iY0VywJKNQZeDGy0t-2o-1RLTO7rkVnlZWrW8NxoECMsRoCkhMQAvD_BwE

I use it with an old modded Xbox with Coinops with an LCD TV.

I have very little handyman/construction skills to build a cabinet, so I was looking for any ideas that folks might have to setup an arcade-like setup using things you can buy at the store or online.

For example, I have seen some pretty neat setups where they wall mount a small LCD TV (with LED lights behind it) and put X Arcade dual joystick on some type of small bar-height piece of furniture.

Anyone have any suggestions or pics of their setup?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. I've spent some time collecting Atari and Commodore items and now have the Apple bug. I've started doing some research and would appreciate any help folks are willing to give on purchasing a system.

Do you prefer the IIe, IIc, IIgs or something else and why?

If you could start off with one system, which one would you buy?

What is a reasonable price for a full system (color monitor, dual drives and computer) in good cosmetic shape?

Is there anything that I should avoid?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Thanks for the advice.

It turns out that it is not the monitor. I plugged the Apple III into a commodore monitor and got scrambled characters on the screen just like the Apple III monitor. The computer turns on and everything and tries to boot up, but the output on the screen is scrambled. It seems like it is working otherwise, but there is something wrong with the video output on the computer itself.

    Any ideas?

  5. Rescued an Apple III with monitor by the road a while back.

After cleaning it up, I turned it on and everything worked! I purchased some old diskettes and some hardware to make new boot disks, etc. to tinker around with it. Unfortunately, I booted up not too long ago and the monitor only displayed a green line. I did some digging and it sounds like the "vertical collapse" is not working.

    Any help is appreciated.

In the meantime, does anyone know what I can use as an alternative monitor? I have a couple of Commodore 1702's and a 1902A.

    Thanks in advance.

  6. I know about the cover project. It's been a great resource, but there are a limited number of games with covers available.

I know that AtariAge has a great database of scans of the front and back of the box of basically every game. Unfortunately, AtariAge has no scans of the side of the box. This means that if you are making your own game covers for a universal game case, then you are on your own when it comes to the side of the box.

The side of the cover is important if you want to be able to see the name of the game when you put them on a shelf. Any suggestions? Has anyone come up with something like a generic word template for a 2600 game in a universal game case that looks good on a shelf?

  7. Does anyone else make their own Atari 2600 "boxes" using Universal Game Cases? I've found that look really nice on shelves.

Anyway, I've been making my own cases by printing covers from "The Cover Project" (which is a great place, by the way) and inserting them into Universal Game Cases. Unfortunately, there are only 122 Atari 2600 covers in their database.

I've tried to make my own covers in Word, but I admittedly have very limited skills to accomplish the task. I've tried using the box scans from right here on AtariAge, but the scans obviously only include the front and the back of the boxes and not the "side" like on The Cover Project, which is important since you are looking at the "side" when you are displaying the cases on shelves. I've tried making my own "sides" by opening the front or back box scan in paint, copying the title of the game, and then rotating and resizing it to the width of the standard size. However, the results leave a lot to be desired. It's just not a true representation of what the original box looked like from the side.

    Anyone have any advice?

    Thanks in advance.
