Well for you Foundation Z80 card owners, I may have finally gotten the OS for us. In the zip find a dsk image, in Kaypro II format, called MRSBootCPM.dsk, I used my DeviceSide FC5025, and cut open the disk envelopes and finally got one that would read. I then read out the other disks that came with it, included in the package. Someone try this and let me know if it boots your Foundation card, when you follow the manual. You can probably test these disk images with a Karpro II emulator, maybe in Mame. Please report your findings.

    Foundationz80cpmMRS.zip 578.24 kB · 4 downloads

kaypro ii in mame says 'invalid image'

I saw that, but I didn't know how to do the copy part.. thx.

When I'm done, do you want these files?

    These are what beery supplied

you select the file on the right side in my example, and right click, and pick COPY FILE

I tried, I used TDIR and either it doesn't do that or I'm not seeing it.

    Thx for the response

sure it does.. first you make a disk image under the file menu, make sure you make one your controller can read.. then you open that disk image on one side, then you copy the files from the other side over to it..

I looked at these files and there 8 and 9k bytes.

    And gotek doesn't recognize them.

My EA disk that was converted and is seen and used on geneve module loading is a 180k dsk file.

Do you know how to convert these?

gotek only works with disk images, copy them into a disk image

  6. TIPI's TELNET is a proof of concept/example program so people can see what is possible with the TIPI TCP support... And a PI fixing tool in the event of desperation.

I don't BBS, so it isn't ever going to be a priority for me. But the source is available in the examples section of the github repo.

I've heard Beery has TCP enabled some other term program. Maybe it is more feature rich.

It can print but it's 40 column and no ansi

  7. I just clicked the 'buy now' button on a unique bit of kit.

    Specifically, a unique floppy drive.
(More information, for those needing more than just the product manual.)

(I happen to have a Brother electronic knitting machine that uses them, that is lacking the drive. I decided to finally get one.)

It is a (potentially, it also can use a wall-wart power plug) battery operated FM encoding 3.5" diskette drive, that communicates on a modified RS232C interface.  It is one of the short list of devices I have considered suggesting in the various CC-40 accessories threads in the new subforum, (and as the topic has come up).  Given that its communication system is so simple, a micro controller could easily sit between it and a CC-40, turning it into a swanky hexbus compliant disk system. Since such projects have recently come to exist (with FOSS code for microcontrollers to communicate with hexbus master controllers in the wild now), and since I just ordered one, I thought I would bring this up again. (Granted, it only holds 100kb/disk, and likely uses 720kb diskette media, but it isn't like the CC-40 is a powerhouse of spacious RAM to put data into to begin with.)

Now, I have no intention of using it in that capacity, since I DO happen to have a perfectly good knitting machine in need of the drive. I do not have a CC-40, nor a hexbus interface
for my 99/4A-- But this is the OT thread, and the OT is that I purchased one of these drives.
I have belts and cables and disks to use that with a trs80 model 100-200 in my store

This is something I’ve kind of wanted to have (or otherwise, to make) for a while.  Which is to say, a good TI-99/4A “soundtrack” which is in effect just a collection of longer uninterrupted and continuous musical compositions (hence, almost inherently, title tunes) for classic TI-99/4A games.  Especially Alpiner’s, Midnite Mason’s and Protector II’s title screen music really made an impression on me, back in the day. So good I barely wanted to leave the title screen.

In the present day, there are homebrew games and demos which are absolutely killing it, when it comes to TMS9919/SN94624 musical compositions.  But I wanted to revisit some 80s era classics first. I can definitely see how a “soundtrack” of the best of all eras, or the best of the modern era, would be desirable, though.  Including glorious stuff like Bouncy’s Obstacle Course and Flying Shark and Tursi’s Mega Man 2 conversion and what have you. But that feels like a different category from what are, in these cases, mostly PSG translations of classical or traditional music.  I also didn’t include any jingles or fanfares or otherwise very short compositions, here. Or any which I simply don't find very listenable.

    Title List in play order:

    Alpiner

    Anteater

    Jawbreaker II

    Midnite Mason

    Mouskattack

    Protector II

    Slymoids

    Arcturus

    Blasto

    Hustle

    St. Nick

    Driving Demon

    Ambulance

    Hangman

    Hen House

    Junkman Jr.

    Rotor Raiders

    Tombstone City

    Tris

    Yahtzee

Very cool, would be cooler with the music pieces listed :) at least the ones that are not originals

  9. Just played through it on a real machine. It's an absolutely playable demo with a few puzzles, and not too hard. A few glitches with the blood stains. The red potions give health and and green potions and the barrels give might (the ability to attack). You need to use the mouse or joystick to get and use the keys. I wish a had a TIPI so I could try the mouse interface, but it's supposed to work well.
I have them in stock :)

    Thanks everyone for your answers.

However, my white PAL 99/4a, with blue power button, doesn't see the FinalGrom99 cart.

I can plug many TI cart, but not that one.

    On screen (C) shows 1981

    Any idea?

what does the side port look like? In the FAQ you can see the different versions between the original (brass) and QI (aluminum/silver)

  11. Hi all I have a nano peb and was wondering "what are my options for getting online". I have v1 with the 9 pin port.

    Thanks
How about hooking up a modem or wifimodem with a serial cable

Pinout is the same as a pc

  12. I can't find a layout of Geneve connectors, I read the Geneve has 2 game adapter ports? A mouse port? So where is the mouse port. I've got a 2 button serial mouse? Not sure it'll work, but I don't know where the connector is anyway..
    It's not serial it's a bus mouse

Look in the FAQ for the ports
