Did you look in the FAQ no you didn'tI can't find a layout of Geneve connectors, I read the Geneve has 2 game adapter ports? A mouse port? So where is the mouse port. I've got a 2 button serial mouse? Not sure it'll work, but I don't know where the connector is anyway..

17 minutes ago, GDMike said:I've got another stupid question, I've got my gotek set for drive 1, and a regular hh floppy drive as drive 2.
I copied the dos65 dsk file to my thumb drive, and renamed it to DSKA0002.dsk, so my drive can see it, which it does, but I can't do a directory of it and Geneve doesn't boot.
DM2K reports error 6.
Followed by 705, oops upside down it says sh..outta luck...
Can someone point me in a bootable direction, but first I need to straighten out my boot file.
I DLd from whtech, it's a .dsk file, I looked at it with TDIR, and it reported 720k.
So at this point all I did was rename it to a missing file from my sequential files on my gotek, which happens to be dsk0002
Then after that didn't work, I tried the hdx export and I got the same thing.
Also, I've got another situation, I've got the scarta box hooked up to the Geneve and output VGA to my TV and my TV reports unknown mode, I don't have RGB in. As I thought that I could just plug it into VGA
the ti controller can only do DS/SD 180k

not mine just passing a deal along..this is the single best lcd for retro computing as it supports RF, Composite, svideo, vga and SCART rgb

Percussive cleaningI removed the PCB from the keyboard framework and checked the continuity of the switch terminals when the key was pressed and released. At first it failed mostly, but sometimes showed a short. After many key presses, it started working again. Now I can't get it to fail. I soldered it all back together again and it works like a charm. I could have pulled the switch completely out and disassembled it to check it out. But I've broken fragile plastic in the past so I opted not to do so in this case.
Back in the day we called it "came clear while testing". Anyway, thanks for the help.
Well done

Hdx.. you should really read the FAQ if you haven't.. whole section on copying files to/from a pc..I do have a TI with a working PEB/Disk Drive. How would I get the data from the disk transferred to my modern PC?
TIPI is another great solution

The best way is to use a TI if you don't have one with a disk drive there are others out there that are willing to do this for you.I have a bunch of disks for a TI-99/4A system that I got when I purchased the system from its original owner. Some disks include "GREAT TI GAMES", "TI SALES DEMO", "WIZARD'S LAIR" and "SUPER FROGGER".I'd like to back up these disks and get them into a repository somewhere.
First of all, is there an exhaustive repository somewhere that I could contribute to? If not I could at least get them up on archive.org. I am surprised to see there wasn't really a large category of games under https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary. I did find this https://archive.org/details/basic-games-ti99 but obviously that's not everything..
Second, how would I properly back up these disks? Would ImageDisk on a DOS computer with a 1.2MB drive work? If so, what settings should be used?
You could use a PC disk imager to copy images of the disks but you definitely need a 360k double-sided double density drive as the track sizes are different and a 1.2 drive also runs at a different speed
The best place to archive the files is probably ftp.whtech.com. I would check there first and I'd also check the game base for those games to see if they've already been archived before you spend a lot of effort

First off it's not a modem is a module. It has wifi network capabilities but it's not going to let you use a terminal and get on a bbs
I messed with mine for a bit and I got the type in programs to work but they didn't do what I needed so I put it on the shelf with my nanopeb

Also as stated before in this another groups a normal update takes just a minute or two it's when you wait 27 updates that it takes a long time especially if you're going between versions of the operating system
Sent from my LM-V600 using Tapatalk -
Also if it stops in the middle for whatever reason you can ssh in and restart the update manually if you look in the wiki you will find in the FAQ the update recovery process

A very long time depending on your internet speed and how many files are in your tipi folder. An hour minimum.I noticed that my TiPi is v1.50 for the Piversion. How long does it take to update it via the TIPICFG typically?
It's been running for about 30 minutes already. The TIPI LED is just flashing...
The latest version is advisable to be installed in the card to save time and failure possibility due to the internet dropping something in the long process of updating the pi.
You can ssh into the pi and watch the update in /var/log/daemon.log to see if it is still working or stopped

Nope I'll fix that
Is not mentioned in the "New to the group", isnt it ?

3 hours ago, gferluga said:Do we have available the Multiplan cart on disk?
Not the original program floppy. Just the module.
To be executed from CF7+ or Nano PEB.
The same would be nice for TI-Writer.
We have many games but very few applications around.
Thanks in advance.
there is no way to do that. both of the carts require memory expansion and are large enough to take all of it if you loaded the programs into memory..
as for word processing there's a package called funlweb that you will find is equivalent to ti-writer in every way.. and runs from ex basic or editor assembler carts..
http://ftp.whtech.com/emulators/pc99/pc99 dsk collection/WordProcessing/FUNLWEB/
if you get a finalgrom99 cart (I have them in stock in my store) you can load either/any cart pretty much into a sd card and away you go

54 minutes ago, Ed in SoDak said:Thanks. I didn't spot the answer to my one question in a quick read of the TIPI threads here as well as on your site. I'm glad it provides support for floppies as well as portability to PC and back.
Myself though, I'm still leaning mostly towards emulation rather than playing on the iron. While I know the TIPI offers a lot more, I'm really just aiming at porting over my old floppies. For accomplishing that, the Gotek remains my first choice.
frankly the easiest is HDX.. you just load a program on your TI hook up a straight through serial cable between the pbox and a pc serial port and load the sw on the server.. copy away

This is called gamebase..I don't know if it is difficult...
But it would be nice to make it all "push and play", so that one could attract new people or people that have used to TI to use the old system. And... even make it hipp and maybe the value of the TI will go to heaven
Hmmm... no, that is not good
hehehe
But it would be nice to have C99 as the backbone and all billion games ready to play.
My daughter loves Hunt the Wompus. She is 10 and speaks and understand English (we are Norwegian), but I have to start up the games if it is old.... I see there are other simple games that she loves too. It would be cool to have the C99 working behind and then a screen with the alphabet to pick a letter to find the game she wants, without me having to do all the commands. Is that possible? Kinda like Retropie, but with C99 as the backbone and in windows.

Mg explorer? You just reminded me of what happened to me in 1987!
I ordered explorer disks from, who ever was selling them, I don't remember now, but 3 disks and a booklet all came in a envelope. And my us mail delivery person folderd the envelope in half, when I opened the envelope the floppies were folded in half really nicely.
I called the seller, I said, just paid$75 what to do? They said I could pull the sleeves apart on the floppy disks and copy them to new floppies which I did and they worked just fine so I was happy after that.

Yes it can coexist either in front of the disk controller at cru 1000 so it can optionally intercept DSK1-4 requests and redirect them to folders on tipi or or you can set the Cru to 1800 ( or anything in between ) so that the disk controller has full controlOne question, does the TIPI allow using a TI disk controller and physical floppy drive? My primary goal is to streamline porting my floppy collection to a PC for emulation. Sounds like it's mostly geared to go the other way; simplify getting PC TI disk images onto real iron. The Gotek or Lotharek integrate floppies with their solid state equivalent.
Tipi is the easiest way to transfer files to your PC since you just copy them from the floppy disk to the tipi drive and then you can access that drive directly from your PC over the network

No it can'tCan the cf7 firmware be patched manually by the user?

The peripheral expansion box has no timing issues
The nanopebs and cf7s made in the last few years are patched to work correctly with the f18a

You mean the finalgrom99?Would this work with the brewing academy SD multicart? Would the saves work?If you're asking that if you can load the tunnels of doom cartridge on the FinalGrom99 the answer is yes. But this is a disk image, if you're asking if you can save a disk on the FinalGrom99 the answer is no it is not a disk drive it is a cartridge.
To use disks you either need a disk controller and drive which usually requires an expansion box, a nanopeb or a TIPI.
All this info is in the FAQ in the pinned post in this forum

Yes the older units definitely have a problem with the f18a they both are trying to use the same VDP memory locations at the same time during startupOh I am using a F18A as well, so maybe that's it?

Sounds like a issue with your cf7 I don't have that issue with the new nanopebs how old is it?I have a quick question for user of both the FinalGrom and the CF7+. Whenever I turn on my TI99 with both the FG and CF7 plugged in I have to push the reset button to get the boot screen to come up. I think this has something to do with timing as the last firmware for the FG was supposed to add a start up delay to make this problem go away. As of version 1.3 I'm still having the issue. Is there a workaround for this other than to hit the reset button after booting? It's not a huge deal, but I wonder if it could cause other issues.
