the Stk500 has an oscillator on board.. the cheapass mkii we all bought does not.. I am going to build an external oscillator and see if i can recover a few of my "programmed" devices, once that fuse is set to external oscillator the mkii can't talk to it..perod. without an external oscillator.. Greg

so to make these things usable i have to buy ANOTHER programmer? sheesh

I guess by the fact that the gazoo multigame worked.. well one of the burns did.. perhaps my socket/adapter is the culprit. I'll be ordering a zif one here shortly. Greg

Welcome Fred! I emailed you about the filename weirdness in the past and you described it as basically "as designed" on the PC side an "illegal" TI filename will be represented by another character in the PC filename while the v9t9header has the correct filename, but when using HDX we can't copy the file over as it will respond "file not found" since the PC filename is renamed to a non-illegal character, yet the v9t9 header still contains the "old TI filename" containing the illegal character.. HDX tries to find the file on the PC side using the v9t9 header filename and of course says "file not found" as the pc file has the replacement character. I am forced to rename the PC file to the PC-legal filename for both the TI header AND the pc file, then copy it via HDX and rename it on the TI side once it's copied over. Would be nice if the HDX would recognize that the PC file "has" to have the replacement character and automatically compensated for it. Saving a few steps but when your copying an entire disk of files with "bad" filenames it would save a ton of time. Greg CC: PM

F18A programming, info, and resources

This happened to me on my nanopeb, turned out to be the nano trying to init before the f18a was ready, the manufacturer knows of the bug and I ended up getting mine replaced with one that has a delay before init to give the f18a time .. Greg -
I do.. will scan it sometime soon if nobody else does

or hitting Fctn= instead of shift= when looking for the + ... beeeeeeeeep DOH! was so happy when i figured out the call load to disable that puppy and its disabled in my GK extended basic -
I'll try and get that CRC when I get home and have some time.. I had programmed the flash and eeprom on my PC with studio then it wouldn't let me do anything, so i put the device on my linux box and got the fuses and clock set with avrdude.. that worked Now of course I can't do anything with it as my device won't let me reprogram the 1284p since the clock is changed.. need to order that part and get that figured out.. Greg
