  1. Also, I was wondering if someone has an extra TI RS232 cable ? I took a look at my cable and it looks as if maybe one of the pins is bent a bit.. I just though I'd bring that up also.

I'd think any straight through PC cable would work. 9-25pin PC style

  2. I am using DOSBOX..

DOSBOX has a configuration file where you tell it what USB rs232 adapter to use for which com port.. that needs to be set up correctly.

something on the order of this in your dosbox.conf file

    serial1=directserial realport:ttyUSB0

I have no way of knowing what the realport is on a mac as I don't have one. That'd be what I would use for USB0 on my Linux box.. and mac uses BSD unix which is the same driver style as linux

  3. Hello,

I am a current user of my TI-99 system and in the past I was able to transfer many files from my mac to my TI using PC99.. I finally decided to go for it again and all of a sudden the RS232 port is being skipped and when I try to run TELCO on the PC99 side, it stays stuck at a GREEN SCREEN and does not go any forward..

If someone has a MAC and PC99 set up, please let me know what parameters I am to put in the RS232 category under PC99 config.. Also, someone please let me know their dosbox configuration as I have a feeling this is the reason why its not working right. I have PC99 set up as 1 RS232 with it being COM 1 and using COM 1's address and IRQ.. but still it says its being skipped or can't connect to it.. How do I know on my mac pro which is com 1?? I have 3 USB ports on back and two on the front..

This is really annoying and also tried the same on MESS and MESS can't communicate with the RS232 port as well.

Any and ALL help would be appreciated..

because I feel like throwing my systems out the window and destroying them if I can't get this done.. Yes, I have a very low tolerance for FAILURE.

How are you running PC99 on your mac? It's a DOS program. Are you using DOSBOX?

  4.

I assume this is not SCSI. Is it RLL or MFM?

It is mfm.. it has the personality card which then connects to a wds-100 mfm controller mounted in the bottom of the drive box. Then mfm connectors from that to the drive. I have a rodime 15meg in mine..

it has DSK1 support where the WDS1.DSK1. dir is read for DSK1. access..so I toss things in there that I use a lot like the EA editor, char1 file of my preference, dm2k.. etc..

The DSR/FAT are incompatible with software written for hfdc/scsi etc. You can read the root dir but that's it.. You can't copy things to/from it with dm2k etc.. you have to use it's software.

The disk management software is written in extended basic with assembly subroutines. This software is a little buggy/flakey but does the job for copying things into the disk.. There are two versions. the release from myarc and an updated one that's a little easier to use.

  5. Although I've known about the V2.2 consoles for a long time, I've never actually had one until now. I tried out V22RUN with some Atari carts and was really quite amazed :)

On a somewhat related note - do the 'GPL Interpreter Simulation' EB bootable module disks not work properly because of the same issues with the V2.2?

nope.. because the only real issue is that the ROM on the console skips the cartridge port when looking for rom based software. The "simulation" is just a menu loading files from disk

  6.

I'm running DSK2PC right now.... I'll have an answer in a minute... OH, do you have two buttons on your joystick, like on the Wico? I once moved the toggle switch by accident, and well....

no its an actual atari 2600 joystick.. uno button

  7.

working from EA load will try again in xb

nevermind its working now :) will try and reproduce the issue but it may have just been my setup.. I double checked connections after the issue which may have been the issue :)

  8.

Really, the version with the new fonts? I'm not having any issues, just got done playing it a few minutes ago. Are you using the E/A 5 or the E/A 3 version. I could download it again and see if I have any issues. But I have to be out of here my 12:00 for work.

I just downloaded the dsk image, and dsk2pc'd it to the TI and ran from xbasic.. will try from EA

  9. ti99-rs232-complete.gif

number 5 is the cut trace, if you haven't got a jumper or switch wired here, that is your issue.. you need one if you are going to use interrupt driven software like say.. term programs

    IMG_20130109_201356.jpg

You see on mine (above picture) the wires coming up from there and a toggle switch out the back so you can turn it on and off. If you have interrupts enabled and your DSR is corrupt or empty then the TI won't boot. If you just cut the trace and not put in a switch or jumper then it will always boot, and always not work with term programs :)

  10. Is anyone out there that is using a TI RS-232 with the HDX modification also using a Lantronix UDS-10 at the same time? If so, maybe you can help me out...

I'm having an issue that I cannot resolve on my own. I can telnet from the PC to the TI and get a valid connection, I can even send data FROM the TI to the PC, but NOTHING shows up on the TI screen, EVER. It's really starting to irritate me as this should have been an easy one to just plug in a get online with.

The cable has been triple checked, the connections are proper, but no matter what I try, I get nothing, nada, zilch on the TI screen.

    Thanks.

have you re-enabled interrupts? the switch/jumper on my boards

I hereby request 100% stoning of this person.

As there is three things WRONG with this picture.

#1: The PE-BOX is sitting on the FLOOR (and) on top of of it looks like carpet, 100% killer for static and any non-clamshelled cards like Horzion ramdisks!

#2: The Flex-FireHose-Cable is sitting UNATTACHED to the TI99 Console.

#3: The TI99/4A console is sitting crying its bits off at an sad angle, it is no longer been given any desk space and not even power-on, and missing its voice box so you can hear its horrible pain!

I hope this matter is resolved soon, and you kindly give this poor TI99/4A a bit of valuable desk space and some AC juice now and then, so its bytes don't freeze up totally!

    Thanks!

That's my spare pbox i use for testing hdx cards, I unplug the nanopeb and stick that in my f18a console to test.. and a spare console :P you'll note the shrine in my photo above and to the left blown up here: 178348_10151819200115144_2016889359_o.jp

Not interested in selling my 1200, BUT I may have enough parts for another 1200 system in storage. I think your best bet is a well cared-for system from eBay or Amibay. You can get NOS from Amigakit or Vesalia. IIRC, that can also be caused by a bad daughtercard which is required to store Kickstart loaded from floppy. Also, try removing the front RAM expansion. I hope it is something simple like a power supply. I am assuming you have had a look under the hood?

Bad caps could also be the issue. . They tend to go bad over time

  13.

The 1000 is neat for nostalgia, but really if you want a machine to upgrade you want to get any of the other models. The 500 has some new options for CPU upgrades thanks to Individual Computers (check out http://amigakit.com,) the 1200 is an AGA model and arguably one of the most expandable clam-shell models. I have a 4000 with a 50MHz 68060, 144MB RAM, SVGA video at 1152xsomething, 18GB SCSI hard drive, and USB 2.0. My 2000 has a 50MHz 68060 with 128MB and a 24-bit video card, and my 1200 has a 50MHz 68060 with 192MB RAM, 4GB DOM, and SCSI for CD-ROM or whatever. (I have a couple of non-working PPC accelerators for the 4000 which I am working on getting repaired.)

That said, if you can find a StarBoard you can get the 2MB you want for your 1000. I just got rid of mine a couple of years ago. The side car expansions for the 500 will also work with the 1000 if turned around to face the back. I ran a GVP A530 40MHz 68030 with SCSI on my 1000 for a while.

Damn ok you win :) I have an 040 in the 2k..and 030's in the 1200 and 3k on amibay that's like 10 grand of amigas right there.. So now I really want to buy an ACA500 and try it on my 1k..

  14. Very cool! It would be great if I could upgrade the RAM on my 1000 to 1 or 2 megs. I have a 256k sidecar expansion, but that only gives me a total of 500k which is not sufficient for some of the games and Blitz Basic 2. BTW, amigakit has precious little for the 1000 unfortunately, and from what I have been reading there are not great expansion options available specifically for the 1000...

Unfortunately the 1000 has only a few options for expansion. Most of which are adding a "box' to the right side buss connector that has zorro slots. Then you can add ram or other cards. I owned one at one time with a commodore scsi controller for my first 1000 and ended up selling it all at one point because it didn't work :) Now you can stick an IDE on the motherboard so who needs that. I believe the 1k has the same pinout as the 500 just upsidedown so perhaps a 500 addon would work like the new ACA500? (now I want to buy one and try it!)

http://aminet.net/docs/hard/a1000hacks.lha has a bunch of hax

http://aminet.net/docs/hard/2000slot.lha is how to make it a zorro slot

    Also: http://cortexamigafloppydrive.wordpress.com/

I just ordered one of these to try this hack on my Amiga ;)

  15. I recently purchased an Amiga 1000, and while still waiting for the RGB cable to be delivered, I started playing with the Amiga Forever emulator to familiarize myself with the machine. I have to say this was one hell of a system for the day... I plan on adding an HxD drive to it for easy disk image transfers between it and the PC. I would love to have Amiga Pascal running on it, but I have yet to locate a copy :( Any Amiga users here?

I have a 500,1000,1200,2000 and 3000 :) had a 1000 in 86 .. have the 1200 with 128mb ram/68030 and replaced the hard disk with a cf.. lots of amiga options for the 1000 including a vga 'flicker fixer' here: http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/images/indivision-ecs.gif I personally went with a amiga->scart cable and then used a device off ebay to convert scart to hdmi.

been doing amiga forever, it was my computer of choice after the TI .. I worked at computerland when I was a teenager and the amiga 1000 and mac 128 came out, and i had to have the amiga :)

  16. arcadeshopper,

I bought them for the cards and not really the box itself as I would like to upgrade the Floppy Controller Card with New Eproms to read 80 tracks for my PEB. Its also always nice to have spare cards around just in case something ever happens to my own but I would possibly be interested in selling some. I will be digging into them tomorrow and can list the cards that they have,

Is their a particular card(s) that you are looking for?

Texas Instruments Rs232 cards are worth 20$ ea to me, I'll buy any you find. Also always interested in myarc cards, any of them.. and corcomp disk controllers.. anything unique (not ti, myarc, corcomp) is also interesting. Pboxes are heavy and tough to ship, too bad they won't fit in a flat rate box :) I know a couple people that could use one, preferrably with 32k and flex cable card..

    Greg

  17. any cards?

I purchased some TI Computer parts today including 2 X PEB (Peripheral Expansion Box - PHP1200)

1 is missing the top and both have Floppy Disk Drives

I have not had a chance to clean them up yet.

If anyone is interested I would be willing to sell 1 or both of them (With or without the Floppy Disk Drives) if anyone is interested.

Feel free to make an offer and let me know where you need it shipped.

    Thanks
