I think I overlooked posting the last manual I did...
Anyway, here is the new & updated manual for John Birdwell's QUIKLOAD
Note: This program requires a 'SuperCart'
We should pin a post with just your manuals

@Rasmus, I have a 128K layout that I made for Jon a few years ago. I can provide you the files if you want them. I also have a 512K version that uses two switches to turn one of the 128K carts into four, all inside a single case--if you don't install the switches, it is just a vanilla 128K cart. These variants were the trigger that set me on the path to making the fully self-contained 512K cart with Jon and Tursi.
me too me too!

Thanks Greg, I check the card for this. It should be fine though; it boots up fine with NO DSR, it's just after it's loaded that it screws up. It WAS working perfect. Either way I'll should have my replacement unit on Tuesday of next week... along with my 80 track update for the FDC. Hopefully I get everything up and running before my UDS-10 shows up.
Ok if it boots without the dsr then that trace is cut.. There must be another issue. Are you leaving the PC plugged in? Try booting with the pc unplugged if so.. I had a prob the other day with my tI locking on boot and it turned out it was my PC not responding to hdx because it had locked

Ok it seems to save the entire program now.. however it won't run.. garbage on the screen..
It runs fine from cassette if the 32k is there when I load it... I tried the same file with and without 32k and it gives me the garbage without 32k and works with 32k enabled.

In MESS it loads at 7118 (entry point START at 740E) to 7DF8. You should, however, disable the internal 16-bit memory expansion (OSD menu, "System configuration"). I noticed that when it is on (default), the program is loaded into the memory expansion. Which, by the way, causes a crash when you try to run the program after restarting the computer because the entry in the DEF table is still there, but it points to a memory area that has been wiped.
ok that must be my problem then..thanks! I'll try that

Has anyone tried the HDX system using a USB serial convertor as the PC serial port? 99% of laptops today do not include a serial port.
Ymmv, the cheaper ones are usually not so good.. I know Owen used one with his TI and it worked ok if you plugged it in a few times..

Is it possible to turn a sidecar RS232 interface (PHP1700) into a HDX interface?
Only if it is identical to the internal card. I haven't seen one, but I'd seriously doubt it is the same hardware in the same locations. ymmv might be able to figure out the jumpers, resistor and interrupt changes required but I would be suprised if it was simple.

I was asked to look at converting minipede to cassette. It loads in minimem or EA opt 3.. with a start name of START (load and run)
I tried loading it in MESS then saving the memory space of the minimem (7000-7fff) to cassette but that didn't get the whole game..
I loaded in Classic99 and see the START in the memory around 8FD8 .. but minimem won't let me save memory past 8F00
Any ideas?

Did the guy that put it together remember to cut the interrupt trace? no 5 on this photo http://home.vodafonethuis.nl/fgkaal/Hardware/hw_ti99hdx_card_rs232.html
The trace needs to be cut for the card to allow the TI to finish the bootup routine with a bad DSR

What is the price of each card shipped within the US?
Thanks
Last time it was $8 ea with $5 shipping via USPS in the US. This is just the PCB, no electronics or sockets installed.

what shots? all i can do is bump cars. how do you shoot? the fire button does nothing in play.
When you see what looks like a violin on the road, hit it, that's the gun.. Then you can fire

Here is my new game Road Hunter. As the name indicates it is a racing game borrowing ideas from both Road Fighter and Spy Hunter, but it's not supposed to be a remake of any of those games. The screen is scrolling smoothly at 2 or 4 pixels per frame at 60 FPS in ordinary graphics mode. The alternative would have been to scroll 8 pixels per frame in bitmap mode (as on the MSX), but I decided to sacrifice more colors for smoothness. This is running 100% on the old hardware and is not even aware of the F18A.

screenshot2.png
screenshot3.pngThe game is about earning points by bumping or shooting the other cars off the road, while avoiding crashing and running out of fuel. The demo allows you to play a full level/track more or less as I imagine the finished game. There are still some tiles left for improving the graphics, and the current music score (borrowed from Spy Hunter) will need to be expanded or it will drive you mad after a while. I'm also planning more levels, of course, and perhaps other items on the road to pick up or avoid.
If you need to run this under emulation I suggest to use MESS because it is not running as smoothly on Classic99 - at least not on my computer.
To run the game you game either use E/A#3: DSK1.RH, or E/A#5: DSK1.ROADHUNT or use the Extended Basic loader. In any case you need the 32K RAM expansion installed.
I have not created a YouTube video because it would not be able to capture the speed and smoothness of the scrolling.
Enjoy!
Updates:
- January 24: New version with 'lives', oil pools, and shadows.
- January 31: 2nd track added, extended music, fuel bonus, XB loader.
- January 31: Drums, boot tracking, renamed map files.
- February 1: Stuck in oil bug fixed?
- February 9: 3rd track added, extra life every 3000 points, enemy cars collide with each other, more intelligent movement of enemy cars (level dependent), oil spills moved to level 3.
- February 11: Demo mode added, bug fixes.
On a real TI.. I get this on level 3:

After I lost it went back to the clear screen for level 1/demo

Thank you, I'm not planning on adding much more to the game so it depends on when we're content there are no more serious bugs.
The latest version includes a demo mode that kicks in after 10 secs. It's very basic, the car just accelerates and doesn't attempt to avoid the other cars or the road sides.
I have also tried to fix the problems mentioned by Kurt: 1. braking too slow, 2. finish line not recognized and 3. sideways car debris on the road. I have never experienced the second bug but I think that has been fixed. The third bug I have seen a few times after adding the collision between the other cars, and I have added code to prevent the cars from colliding outside the screen. I don't know if that will help but perhaps we can see what's causing the problem now?
Regarding the cartridges, please don't get your hopes up that I'm going to start a production. All I have said is that I'm going to make a cartridge file for people to burn to their own EPROMs. Firstly I don't want to spend my nights soldering - then I can't do any programming. Secondly I only have a very limited amount of cartridge shells. Thirdly it doesn't make sense to produce TI cartridges in Europe and ship them mostly to the United States - I assume there are customs to pay in that direction too? But if anyone are interested in starting a not-for-profit production you're welcome to contact me.
BTW, is a PCB layout for a 128K board available? I have used Fred Kaal's directions here to build one, but it would be easier to have the wire connections on the PCB instead.
I can manufacture in the US.. just sayin

Has anyone done a CAD model of the TI cartridge by any chance? I would love to try to print one with my 3D printer. My CAD skills are non-existent although I am trying to learn Open SCAD but it will take a while...

Any update?

The DOAD directory is accessed using the DSK2PC program on the TI which transfers entire disk images back and forth between the TI and the PC. DSK2PC is available on Fred Kaal's site. The program will use the DOAD directory specified in your HDX server as a default.
What he said. . You will need a floppy on the TI side to copy the image too

Yes well you already told everybody about the scsi board I was gonna get for $100
Seriously though, people pay what they think something's worth, it's not your or my doing that makes them think a $100 card is worth $300. Imho we should set a reasonable value on these and keep them in the "community" rather than trying to make a mint on Ebay. But they own the items, so they are theirs to do with as they choose.
