  1. If they were to put some of those up in a straight auction (ie with no buy it now), they wouldnt sell for that price. I see several 7800 - confirmed working too, but with no cords - selling for as little as 50 dollars in ebay's completed items. Ones boxed are 150+, as much as 300 if it has a bunch of games. But you probably don't need all that. So just be patient, try to win it the hard way in a straight auction if one comes up.
  2. My recommendation to the OP is to hold out for a 'for parts' 7800 if you can't find one under 100 (IMO too much). We have a few modding whizzes on here that can almost certainly repair them. It's a shame because a few years ago I had (4) broken 7800s that I didn't have the time/patience to repair, wish I'd held on to them, sold them to a guy who doesnt care about pre-NES systems for next to nothing just so I could clear them out. Also I agree with the others that thrifts have long been wise that video games aren't worthless things to throw 10 dollar price tags on anymore. Almost anything they get now goes on their auction sites, even loose 2600 games which used to be legion at thrift stores are now rare.
  3. Is Ghost House considered a sequel? Did not realize that, but come to think of it, yeah same concept. But I don't thhink it was on any other platform so I don't see how it could be called a port? I'd like to see Monster Bash too. Someone was going to do it for Colecovision awhile back, or maybe it was a rumored proto.
  4. Yeah that's the thing - I have no complaints whatsoever with what IS coming out - UniwarS? Yes Please. I should have put Carnival on that list too, and maybe its sequel Razzmatazz.
  5. By 'Asks' I mean HEY BOB HEY BOB MAKE THIS FOR ME. I guess that isn't the same for merely stating what ports you'd like to see - Ports done elsewhere to varying degrees that I'd like to see done as a modern homebrew: 1. Mr. DO! - I hate every 8 bit port of this game. The only decent port was the SNES version, but thats overkill. Would like to see a Mr DO! port on the 7800 or NES 2. Congo Bongo - some of the ports of this game were fair (ie Colecovision) but none got it totally right. 3. Up n Down - Colecovision version is the best, and I have the 2600 version, but like to see it on the 7800. 4. Tapper - 2600 version plays good but is ugly, Colecovision looks OK but is slow. 5. Tempest 6. Missile Command Never ported anywhere: 1. Black Widow - Absolutely love this game, which can get insane in the later levels. 2. Zektor - Space Fury's underrated sequel. 3. Tropical Angel by Irem - unique waterski game 4. Indian Battle - Taito space invaders variant. and one that will never happen because its too obscure: 5. Itazura Tenshi/Lovely Angel by Nichibutsu - bizarre consetelation making cupid game.
  6. Let me put in a vote in for Kangaroo. It's one of my top wants, but 'asks' are a taboo here IMO, and I am not a programmer myself. Thankfully alot of the homebrewers have similar taste to my own, so I have not been at all disappointed with what Bob and others have decided to put out, though there are some others that either had weak/no conversions that would be awesome to see.
  7. Yes, I agree with SlidellMan, the Irem logo ought to be more centered, or at least larger. But it's not like there is a ton of UniwarS promoart out there to use for this, so this is understandable (note - I am going to buy this game regardless).
  8. Hey without going through the whole thread (went through a few pages and didnt see it mentioned), but does the port have the animation of Olive angerly pointing if you leave a heart at the bottom too long? Always bugged me that the NES version was missing the little details like that.
  9. The Killer Instinct one is a surprise, and although the Nintendo references are probably removed I imagine they may have had to at least work with Nintendo on permission for this to happen... Which leads me to something I was hoping to see from them but is doubtful - I'd love it if they did a Nintendo Vs. cab. Maybe both in the 'tent' style dual or the full upright/donkey kong style. Still seems iffy but KI has peaked my hopes up some. I preordered the Out Run cab and will probably get Tempest and X-Men when they come out. The only game I wish the Tempest one had is Black Widow, but I get that the controls for that one would completely change the control design. Little disappointing there is no Timber on the Midway one - always thought of it as a quasi-sequel to Tapper since its like the bartender got a new 'job' as a lumberjack. A couple of years ago, they previewed some of these cabs with a poll they ran on Twitter - most of those choices have since happened with the exception of The Simpsons. (TMNT won the poll) My thought with the Simpsons - seems like the only other game they could include with it is Simpsons Bowling, also by Konami - but that would make for odd controls, having a giant trackball in the center of a 4 player control scheme. Maybe not impossible.
  10. My rule with ports is that if there is already a widely available 8 bit port on another console, I look at it as less of a priority. So although 1943 for NES is more an original game loosely based on the arcade, I think of it as 'good enough for now' (wouldnt mind something more arcade perfect ie with 2 player co-op). Pooyan, Gyruss also have NES ports (alot of people hate the NES port but I think its OK). Many of the other suggestions I see on the board would also be in that category (Bubble Bobble is a popular suggestion). Tapper on the other hand never got an 8 bit port that I can completely endorse. The 2600 version gets the gameplay mostly right but is pretty ugly, and the Colecovision version looks ok but feels slow. So for me, Tapper would be #1. I also voted for Moon Patrol, but we know there was a done or mostly done Atari done port of it - I hope the prototype surfaces some day. I would have added Mr. DO! to that list of choices. I dislike every port of the game except for the much later SNES version which since its not an 8 bit system feels like cheating.
  11. Good thing I decided to recheck homebrew for the 2600/7800 I missed! - I will be getting this when it is released.
  12. Was a little surprised to see this game not in the 'coming soon for Jan' additions in the atariage store - does it still need more work?
  13. Hey everyone, I am trying to sell some extras i have for genesis, atari 2600, nes and N64. Nothing too spectacular, just want to make room for other things. 14. Very sorry to hear this. I fully intended to preorder this title. I hope you'll change your mind at some point - when I first saw the news, I thought uh oh Michael Denio wasn't a fan! At least it wasn't that.
  15. As usual with Bob's games, I will be a day zero orderer of it (btw bob - still keeping a space on my shelf open for Defender 7800 :D)
  16. Weren't there some known protos that were thought to be finished but simply not discovered yet? Moon Patrol is the one I am thinking of but I thought there was one more.
  17. This would interest me - but one question - will this be a 2 player only game like the original Combat? maybe my only gripe about that game is I rarely have another person to play it with me.
  18. Yeah, I figure Fairyland Story is probably just about right tech wise for the 7800 - Rainbow Islands and Halley's Comet are probably too advanced. The 8 bit ports of Rainbow Islands have to use heavy flicker to make it passable, not even sure what the 7800 would do when you make a 'stairway' of 10 rainbows.
  19. Defender youd have an instant preorder if you ever do it 7800 is IMO the most exciting homebrew classic system right now. I am continually shocked at what is being done with this amazing, underrated system
  20. Much as we all love Bubble Bobble, if there were another Taito game done as a homebrew I would like to see something that either wasn't ported or had few ports - maybe Halley's Comet or (especially) Fairyland Story? My recollection is Halley's Comet only had semi-ports as 'Halley Wars' on the FDS and Game Gear, and Fairyland Story only as an MSX port.
  21. God I'd love it if someone did a full game for that Congo Bongo 7800 mockup someone did awhile back. (hint hint to whoever did it) Popeye looks interesting! I like all of these games, so the more the merrier.
  22. Been meaning to do this for awhile. I've been doing all of my mods with Crossbow for the last 2 years. Haven't even really considered anyone else after I liked the quality of the first mod he did for me, which was composite modding my Atari 7800 in summer of 2018 (IIRC). But I've gone back to him (many) times since then. A list of what I can remember - 1. Atari 7800 composite mod 2. SNES jr LED addition 3. Sega Master System FM mod 4. Sega Genesis model 1 recap 5. Colecovision composite mod 6. Atari 7800 - sent back for S-video mod that I stupidly didn't do the first time 7. 32x s-video mod/repair And what I consider the coolest - I had Crossbow do something I've always wanted to see - a 'drill-less' Sega Master System s-video mod. ..So when I had him do the FM mod originally, I said to remove the RF from the motherboard and put it in the channel switch. SO this time when I wanted to add S-video, I figured - let's put the s-video in the other RF port hole, and use the audio off the composite. Presto! Not aware of anyone else having done this before, but I love it and it looks fantastic. Not only that, but he also pause modded this SMS and modded an aftermarket controller to work with it. So it's probably the most tricked out SMS in existence. So I cannot recommend him enough. His contact is excellent; some modders I dealt with in the last would go radio silence for long periods, but he does not, and tolerates my 50 questions ha. In the future I will probably have other things done (thinking about trying to do a pause controller mod on the 7800 with the same idea behind the SMS one) again with him.
  23. One thing about the NES version is that Michael Denio actually worked on it for Color Dreams, so in a way it was an 'improvement' approved by the creator. Better versions of some of the music he put in? Bentley Bear proves you can have good classical music renditions. It's almost tempting to ask him for input but I have no idea whats hes doing or if hes even still alive.
  24. Twentysixhundred, if you release a port of this game (or a near port) 100% I will buy it. I wanted a decent console port of this game forever and I hate the NES one, too fast and annoying renditions of the music.
