  1. Yes I would buy Captain Comic, very interested in a good port of it, dont like the NES version
  2. Now that these have been out awhile, I wonder how they have held up over time? Some of the previous new 7800 controller attempts have ended up having directional issues; ie registering diagonals when they shouldnt and getting sluggish with directions in general.
  3. Ot but that mockup really has me jonesing for a Congo bongo 7800 port..
  4. I can happily report that LadyBug works on my Atari 7800 - this is what freaked me out, another poster saying this exact game didn't work for them - as a copy I had bought was on its way to my place! Excellent port btw. Dark Chambers 2600 seems like a poor trade off; though I'd be curious if Secret Quest and Stargate don't work on these systems for any one who has them. As to why I don't just play 2600 games on a 2600 - a combination of both space and the fact that the 7800 does play about 99.9% of the 2600 games. My system is an AT85, and has an early 'purple box' (matching serial) so it is before the systems were modified any.
  5. Uh oh, this gives me pause. Crossbow, since you've had my 7800 at your place twice now, I hope my 7800 fell before the 'evil' range? I ask this because I am about to start getting alot of 2600 homebrew in the coming months, which previously I only had 1-2 of. IIRC Star Castle is the only homebrew I have run on that system. I can't remember what you tested on it.
  6. I'd be interested (in terms of $$$) in an 8 bit bowling game; I don't care for the one on the NES, and Bowling for the 2600 is too primitive. I'd like something in the style of Capcom Bowling or Crazy Bowl arcade games. 7800 is def advanced enough for it.
  7. Thanks Crossbow/Jesse, I didnt mean to minimize your hard work on the system. I was very pleased with the result. It actually ended up being more work than either of us expected. I sold every game listed above except for Rally X, and the DK that comes with the system. But the system, rally X, and the Col-USB are still available. If they dont sell by next week I am going to be listing everything.
  8. Hey everyone, making the difficult to decision to part with my Colecovision stuff, though some of it I haven't had long. I wanted to give AA the chance to nab these before I list them. Right now these are all 'for offer' - I need to check current market values before i can add prices. 1. I have a CIB composite modded Colecovision. Box in in poor shape (its missing both sets of flaps so its more like a slip cover), but its there. The system was modded by AA's very own Crossbow just a few months ago, and I was very happy with its quality. The controllers have had ball tops added to them by him - note that this prevents the controllers from being able to put in the system box - too tall. Includes a Donkey kong cart + manual. No system manual. Has the original brick AC which works. No system manual. 2. CIB Homebrew games. a. Rally X (pixelboy) - the box has a ding in the corner
  9. Do you have pics of it? Another one I think is the same way is the Red Yars - not sure if both of these are the same as the Euro release's manual.
  10. I finally found one of these, in the wild no less. Mine is different than this one; has a 1986 copyright on the front label, and 'Atari Corp' instead of Inc. Mine is alot cleaner, though I had to reglue the end label as it was almost off. One thing I've always wanted to know - what manual did the silver asteroids come with? I read on some other threads that the box is the normal red release but with an 1986 copyright, but since I intend to try and track down the correct manual I'd like to know what it had, from someone who bought a copy of the game CIB. I never knew how Atari Age rated some of these games in terms of rarity, don't feel that this one is an 8 or 9 like someone above said - I have a feeling there are more of these out there, but since to most people its just another 'Asteroids' they don't know/care about variants. It seems like it could be a R5 or R6 though. I've never found anything rarer than a 6 in the wild.
  11. I always wondered if there was a chance they might do a compilation style release of Sega Ages....been holding out for the possibility of that before I make a buy. Really disappointed the the Japan-only 3Ds release got Turbo Out Run but not the Switch Sega Ages.
  12. I was really looking forward to Venture for 7800, did any further work happen on the WIP?
  13. Hey this is driving me nuts trying to figure out how to do this, but can someone tell me how to activate the 'Frogger' easter egg title screen? I've seen it in a couple videos but never saw a discussion as to how you get it.
  14. Looks interesting, I do see a Sega CD gun game in the stack of games tested, so that bodes well for the SMS. Really hope this thing could work for ALL light gun games, and I include the even more obscure ones like the 7800 titles.
  15. For me to completely switch to something like an OLED, they'd have to find a solution for light guns. I've seen a few different attempts at solving this, but not enough people care about these games in general and I think beyond Duck Hunt interest hasn't been all that great. I am especially a big fan of the light gun games released for the Master System, but there probably isnt enough SMS fans to even bother trying.
  16. Yeah its easy to go down a deep rabbit hole with wanted titles - I am mostly thinking about semi popular titles that never had good contemporary ports, Mr Do is high on that list. Another one for me would be Gaplus/Galaga 3. Some of the ones OpCode is talking about doing re-releases I didnt think are too bad. LadyBug for the CV is a solid port (but I would buy your version anyway), and I thought Time Pilot wasnt horrible. Then there is the super obscure stuff that I just want because I like them. I like the game Itazura Tenshi (Lovely Angel), a very obscure Nichibutsu title, but its maybe too much of a niche title.
  17. Good to hear! another redo/port I'd like to see are a more vectorish friendly port of Space Fury and especially it's quasi sequel, Zektor, a favorite of mine.
  18. I love the ideas for ports, but IMO one that badly needs a redo, as I dislike ALL of it's 8-bit ports is Mr. Do. The CV version is passable but lackluster. The SNES one is the only port of it that was any good, but I would prefer a port on an 8 bit system.
  19. Personally, I feel like the 'ultimate' solution would actually be newly manufactured CRT tvs/monitors, catering to the retro market, with perhaps some more modern features. There are drawbacks, mentioned by the reply, in taking an analog system and running it through a digital output, and I feel like the downsides aren't worth it. At the same time, I totally sympathize with not wanting to have giant hulking 100 pound monitors or TV sets. I use small CRTs with my set up (13 and 14 inchers so they can fit on a desk) and those suckers are still 25-35 pounds. But this is a much larger philosophical question, probably way outside the scope of this thread.
  20. Is the s-video/composite side part being ordered in that batch as well? Sorry if I missed something, the discussion got so technical for me in the last few pages I had trouble following it.
  21. I think Bob said something about Defender ? (just to note Bob - I didn't buy the colecovision version of it in anticipation of your port 😄)
  22. PM Sent! Now if only I can get something similar going with the Intellivision...
  23. In the earlier WIP videos attract mode only seems to show a game demo, are the ghost 'intros' something that had to be sacrificed? If this new collection had the intros/ms pac man marquee 'and starring ms pac man' bits that would be perfection as far as arcadey-ness goes. The other suggestion someone brought up earlier was the possibility of a 'Tengen' style ending instead of a kill screen? I just went through the thread again to make sure I didnt miss any updates, and it's funny that Bob mentions why he's including the 'popeye' bootleg - one of the first pac-mans I ever saw when I was about 4 years old was the 'piranha' bootleg - perhaps a bit too obscure to include in this!
  24. One cool feature from the original Pac Man Collection that I liked (that I didnt see on the video) was that when you selected a game in the menu but didnt actually start it, it would go into that game's attract mode - which is why I asked about Ms Pac Man's marquee lights.(nice to see them in the menu) But it was also neat to see Pac Man Plus's attract, being such a rare title. Does the new one still have the attracts?
