  1. I'm only interested in the React Attack cartridge. Does anyone have an extra up for sale?
  2. The Vectrex is luggable. That doesn't mean it's a handheld, though.
  3. I'm glad I dealt with a seller with a great reputation. I was amazed at how carefully my Super Micro was packed: there was a layer of peanuts surrounding a bubble-pack that contained the box, and within the box were some more peanuts. The cartridge and the system within the box were also wrapped with more bubble-wrap. Needless to say, the system arrived in great condition. I think when you're selling it's common courtesy to send it properly.
  4. I don't remember any of those allowing cartridges to play. They existed, but they couldn't really be called consoles since they just played one game. This was different. I could also be wrong. What about the Adventurevision or Colorvision? Both were LEDish, but neither I would consider color. Both accepted cartridges. I don't think the Adventurevision or Colorvision qualify as handhelds. I was thinking of them more as tabletops. I'm not sure of this, but IIRC the Colorvision came later than the Super Micro. Good point with the Adventurevision, however.
  5. NEC was an amazing, visionary maker of video game consoles. They should just have understood the market more than just built the best from the best parts that time. I mean, who could have bought those?
  6. I saw that being sold for 1000 British pounds. While the Super Micro I bought was not cheap at all, it just doesn't compare to that price. NEC was a visionary creator of great products - they just didn't factor in the spending power of most people.
  7. Good point. They'd also have forgotten the Turbo Express of NEC. Still, it is the first handheld console with color ... As to whether it really plays a video game .. that's for another debate
  8. I know, that's why I was stating in the post that it's not even the Atari Lynx. A lot of people not into vintage video games seemingly think that the Game Boy Color is really the first foray into handheld gaming in color.
  9. I don't remember any of those allowing cartridges to play. They existed, but they couldn't really be called consoles since they just played one game. This was different. I could also be wrong.
  10. I thought Tarzan was hard for its age target. Just the level Journey to the Treehouse was so punishing because each swing had to be perfect and the level was so long that the checkpoint was difficult to achieve unless you've finally mastered the course. I keep failing at Adventure Island. It's supposed to be a game like Mario but it's much harder for me.
  11. This is an article I wrote (I just got it!) on the real (technically) first handheld console with color. It's littered with pictures, a commentary on the system, and my reflections on it. http://animeotaku.animeblogger.net/2010/06/whats-the-first-handheld-console-with-color-its-not-what-you-think/ I hope you enjoy the post! I welcome comments on my site as well.
  12. Mr. Rik Morgan helped me and I was the one who posted that video. I'm still looking for kindly souls to sell me that system at a fair price, though.
