Would it be difficult to clone that SCART board? Is it an Atari Inc or Atari Corp design? And does it export real RGB?
-
Curt, maybe consider centering the branding there so none of the letters or numbers come anywhere close to those screws...

And here I was a few days ago irked that none of the Atari consoles were getting Collectorvision's Sydney Hunter titles and then this appears and just completely blows it away in terms of jaw dropping excitement... Don't take this the wrong way, but out of all of the 7800's existing commercial and homebrew titles, this is [now] the game that one would really want to save their scores on and brag about them... I'm really surprised you guys aren't supporting HSC on this. I really want that cart in my 7800 so I can see these eye-popping graphics right in front of me on my TV. And the music....wow... Just...wow. It's like halfway between 8-bit and 16-bit console generations for a game... I'm blown away. I showed some of my coworkers - who are Ninjaendo fanbois - the posted videos and they too are blown away...

I'd have to say 2-player co-op on 7800 Centipede-TB* is the best. You can use 2 CX22s, 2 CX80s, or 1 of each and it works flawlessly. Mind you, if someone hacked the 5200 version of Centipede and/or Millipede and added 2-player co-op modes to them, then they'd be best due to default because of the CX53 Trak-Ball. That and the POKEY audio. *The cart is available here at AtariAge's Store, of course!

UnoCart-2600 : a DIY SD multi-cart for the 2600
Lynxpro replied to electrotrains's topic in Atari 2600
It's the last Atari frontier considering the Jaguar SD Cart is almost finished. Well, maybe an ST SD Cartridge but people often throw shade on such an endeavor due to the limitations of its cartridge slot... -

YES!!!! And then folks could use them independent of any other mods for the stick itself, whether one goes with a self-centering option [there's 2 or 3 people working on such a solution right now albeit in semi-stealth fashion] or replaced it with a Paddle or Spinner. Demand would be huge... -
Just got a gamegear, any recommendations for games if I like the lynx?
Lynxpro replied to sirlynxalot's topic in Atari Lynx
Uhm, there is an EverDrive for the GameGear. So if he wants to play those games, the availability of the original cartridges would be moot if he bought an EverDrive. Just sayin'. -

So much lightsabre-size measuring over SD Cartridge solutions for the 2600 all-the-while nobody has yet conquered the need for a universal SD Cartridge solution for the 7800... -
Tengen's Gauntlet IV has an unfair advantage over all of the other versions because Tengen used original source code from arcade Gauntlet in it since they were Atari Games. That wasn't available to the folks who designed the highly-praised Atari ST version even though they wanted it. And then Tengen improved upon it further and added the "NES Quest" Mode in addition to the arcade original version. What's a damn shame is Atari Corp didn't get Atari Games/Tengen to port that version over to the Jaguar. That would've kicked so much more a$$ as the console pack-in than Cybermorph did [errr, didn't]...

If i already have an 800XL, I don't need a 5200. Convince me otherwise.
Lynxpro replied to VicViper's topic in Atari 5200
5200 Tempest will work with the arcade version's spinner. Dan Kramer wired one up to the CX53 Trak-Ball Controller a couple of years ago for the last Davis Atari Party. It was incredible. And the CX53 Trak-Ball Controller is reason enough to own a 5200. Especially if you have 2 of 'em, or 4. -
Dan Kramer thinks your "hack" is the best thing since sliced bread. Well, that and his Trak-Balls...
-
#Winning! And if Dave Staugus' (sic) 5-Spider Millipede ever surfaces, ya'll want to add Trak-Ball support to it too, assuming the kernel isn't overloaded.

Lynxpro replied to Osgeld's topic in Atari 2600
Fair enough. Please feel free to design a PCB for the CX52 5200 joysticks. It would have to be a 4-piece but that would certainly rock and you'd have a captive audience in the 5200 Forum. Such a solution would be cheaper than using gold dots on the flex circuits... -
SS, if you can get it 3D scanned, or if anyone owning one of the thumbsticks is willing to do it, that would greatly help enthusiasts. Just like the battery compartment door for both the Lynx I and Lynx II need to be 3D scanned to cut down on unscrupulous ePay sellers trying to charge $60 for that simple piece of plastic.
-
That's because they used large ROMs. It's not due to the NES magically being more powerful than any other 8-bit on the market, especially against the SMS or the 7800 [had a version of Gauntlet been released for it].

What are the advantages of this board over Best Electronics's retrofit boards other than not having to go blind looking at that GeoCities-esque atrocity of a website? -
Speaking of Crescent Galaxy and the ultimate arrival of the SainT's SD Adapter and associated hacks, I'd love to see one for Crescent Galaxy that restores Trevor's head poking out of the top of his ship which is a Jaguar console... that was pretty cool to see it in the beta version back at Atari Corp HQ when they were demoing what was in the works at the time. Sure, it does nothing for the gameplay but it's cool nonetheless...

The emulator would also have to know about the PSP's native hardware and use it, whether it's the AdHoc WiFi or the Mini-USB port. It's rather disappointing that other Lynx emulators haven't done this before. I would've thought the [original] Xbox would've been the first to use it since that scene is so into using hardware...

With the XM's feature set, it kinda begs to do enhancements to them. Like add static graphics screens and audio for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Digitized from the BBC mini-series instead of Disney's cinematic version since it would be time period correct plus also not having to potentially deal with a Mushroom Cloud Laying Mutha Ukkah like the House of Mouse over it... Douglas Adams would be proud...

Good man. And your ears too...

So I'm assuming that statement means Mr. Brown from U.S. Gold visited the HQ of the Atari Games Corp in Milpitas CA and licensed Gauntlet then and there. What's this about licensing DANDY? U.S. Gold also licensed that directly from Palevich as an insurance policy against legal action against them for their Gauntlet conversions? I don't remember seeing any credits listed on the boxes or in the game conversions themselves about Palevich... I realize this probably only interests uber Gauntlet enthusiasts... I'd say most of the 8-bit conversions of Gauntlet are disappointing. Others certainly did much better with the conversions for the Atari ST and the Amiga although we really could've used an updated version - which the programmers had hoped to do later - that supported the SF314 double-sided disc drive, 1MB RAM, Blitter, and later the STe features [larger color palette, DMA audio, Enhanced Joystick Ports]...
-
Kinda leads to a false impression of keypad usage in Solaris. Or is there such an option? I only played the game at Federated back then because I was deeply committed to 7800 and ST games by then...

It might be a good idea to clarify and distinguish between versions of Flashback joysticks. Such as those that were packed in with the *good* Flashbacks - the ones Curt designed [Flashback 2 & 2+] and sold by "Atari" = versus the ones made by AtGames [everything thereafter the 2+]... Having stated that and cast shade in the direction of AtGames, in my most Trumpian voice, I must say "I hear good things" about AtGames' built Flashback Paddles...

Very cool. Me thinks this could drive sales of CompuMate keyboards if they could be used with this device. Heck, even using one of the keypad controllers would probably be preferable to cycling through with a joystick. Maybe if it plugged directly into the Cheat Cart instead of occupying one of the DB9s on the 2600 just in case the games in question were 2-player and there was an intent to play 2-player at the time...
