This looks super interesting. I dabbled with text adventures previously, and the biggest challenge at the time was creating a natural language parser instead of the usual 2 word commands. [ Eons ] NPC's add a nice element to any adventure, assuming they are smart enough. Looki g forward to your progress!

What would it take to get in your will? 😈

Force Command ver 1.17 : kinda like command.com from 1985

Any chance to be able to load XB or TI Basic programs directly from the shell? -
I did set a reminder for the next TI Zoom meeting And yes I am using the latest version of Mega Menu with the Gameshelf addition which works very well. You clearly put a lot of effort into this.
-
Finally got a chance to try Mega Menu after I got my TIPI set up. This is an incredibly useful program! I really like it. I haven't had the time yet to fully test all of its capabilities, but having this done in XB is impressive. I have added my favorite development tools to the menu and they all run without any problems (assuming the auto-DSK1 feature is set in TIPI config). Well done!

Well that sucks... US travelers 'unlikely' to be allowed into EU as bloc reopens, diplomats say https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/26/europe/eu-coronavirus-travel-ban-us-intl/index.html

I have to admit that it looks pretty slick and lightning fast to boot! I love the feature of having multiple files open and the ability to copy and paste from one file to the other. Extremely handy feature, although a block copy/paste function would probably be even more practical. And the fact that the Forth command line is accessible with disk directories and such adds to the usefulness. Wish list: Files larger than 511 lines 80 columns support with the F18A Printing to PIO (I like my old trusty dot-matrix parallel printer ) It seems that lately we're having a renaissance in editors with Supernotes, Stevie and now ED99!

I say let's just get together and see what transpires. The less structure the better. -
This is looking awesome! Nice work so far.

Just using the integrated monitor camera and mic. Works fine for Zoom purposes even though the monitor is at least 10 years old (Dell) I just hate having something stuck to my head for extended periods of time... -

Really? I just tried and it said that the host had not started the meeting... -
For me, in addition to the above mentioned features, having block copy, delete and move would be ideal. My primary code editor on the TI is Preditor, but it's got a limited amount of memory, so having an alternative that takes advantage of the SAMS is very relevant to me. You should take a look at the Preditor manual to see the kind of features that are included. Of course 80-col support via the F18A would be the cherry on the cake, but that might be too much to ask. I know Philip is working on vi-like 80 col editor call TIVI, but it's still in development. In the end though, I'm not sure how many are still developing directly on the TI. Personally, I only do it when dabbling with hardware interfaces that cannot be emulated, such as robotics.

Dang it! Missed it... -
Will it be suitable as a code editor? Will it have search and replace abilities, tabs, etc... Will the saved output be in DV80? Sorry for all the questions. Perhaps an FAQ at the top of the topic will be helpful for the more clueless of us...

My nephew just had his doctoral defense over Zoom and it worked beautifully. I actually find it easier to follow meetings on Zoom rather than in person because I can fidget to my heart's content without disturbing anyone
-
Or better yet have a Zoom gathering. Works quite well actually.

So in a nutshell, what is Supernotes supposed to be?

Who wouldn't??? A good beer wouldn't hurt either... 😁 As for sex, welp I'm afraid I can't help with that: you're just not pretty enough Harry 🤣 [I know... this conversation is sliding straight into the gutter. Apologies for those with fragile sensibilities]

TIPI - TI-99/4A to Raspberry PI interface development

Super interesting. I will need to experiment but it should be doable. -
TIPI - TI-99/4A to Raspberry PI interface development
Vorticon replied to jedimatt42's topic in TI-99/4A Development
Well that's about 1 second per frame. Compared to 45 seconds, I can live with that! (Actually it takes about 3-4 seconds for the image capture alone, plus processing time on the Rpi. This process will likely be faster however with the Pi 3 than my original model B) -
TIPI - TI-99/4A to Raspberry PI interface development
Vorticon replied to jedimatt42's topic in TI-99/4A Development
All the processing is done on the TI side. I just got my TIPI-PEB but it's not yet set up. I could have easily done all the processing on the Rpi side then just transfered the bitmap image to the TI for display (only 6K for the half-tone image), which would have sped up things significantly, but I wanted to see what the TI could do. It's a quirk of mine That said, I'm not sure if what you can send data directly to the VDP with TIPI as I am not yet familiar with it's capabilities. -
TIPI - TI-99/4A to Raspberry PI interface development
Vorticon replied to jedimatt42's topic in TI-99/4A Development
Details here This project uses an ancient Rpi model B with a Pi camera. It just streams the RGB data to the TI PIO port using a simulated parallel interface on the Rpi and all further processing is done by the TI to display the image on the bitmap screen. Takes about 45 seconds per full frame image. -
Well Harry, you gave us the Basic Sandbox, so I am fairly confident you can overcome that challenge with the appropriate motivation. Now what that motivation might be remains a bit nebulous...

No book purges here (Blasphemy!). As a matter of fact, I have found that programming books written in the 80's and early 90's were of much better quality than most of the trash I find today. As a matter of fact, I have completely stopped purchasing programming-related books online, particularly Amazon, because I cannot really browse the book and judge its content. I only go to brick and mortar book stores for this.

I'm going to build one as soon as I get the SD card logger. It will be perfect for my CC40 wireless weather station base. Thank you for developing this much needed device!
