  1. Yep, bought 2 new ones while they were still $40.
  2. I appreciate someone willing to rescue these old machines... But with new 600XLs, 800XLs, and 130XE's fairly easy to acquire in the last few years, I prefer not to deal with the biohazard conditions of some of these things. "Eww, what the hell are those little hairs falling out of the keyboard. Are those fingernail clippings?? Why is it sticky?"
  3. I'll take 3 rubber print heads and 5 ink rollers.
  4. And yet in all this time an acclerator hasn't been made using the Carte Blanche. What gives?
  5. I don't think it can be used as an accelerator (there's a 1mhz 'proof of concept', but that's it). The card seems to have impressive capabilities, but looking at the list of projects you can turn it into an expensive sound card, ram expansion....that's about it from a practical standpoint. I would have thought an accellerator or video output card would have been done by now, but apparently not. I'm interested but don't see any good uses for this thing, considering how little has been done with it after all these years. maybe I'm looking int he worng place.
  6. Far too many instances of cracks resulting in programs not working instantly to dismiss full preservation. Sooner or later, floppy emu's will be able to handle Kryoflux and Supercard Pro images, which will guarantee operation as the publisher intended, not someone's bedroom hacked version that may or may not work correctly.
  7. I doubt there will be a redesign. The maker was very reluctant to make even one more batch of the cards until he hit a very high number of committments, and he's also expressed doubt in ongoing demand for the CFFA3000.
  8. Just as the title says, looking for any verison of the ST Discovery cartridge, no software or cables is fine. Please let me know how much you want, or if you'd like to trade (I have a lot of ST and 8-bit systems).
  9. His price lists haven't been updated for over a year, but I see he actively sells on eBay. Has anyone successfully placed an order with B&C in the last year? I don't get responses to my emails. (And before anyone start screaming that "this thread must be locked!" might I suggest you go read a thread that doesn't trigger you?)
  10. The analogy is perfect. The problem we have are people so fearful that the few remaining atari related vendors will take their toys away if anyone dares comment on month long waits for email responses that they'll jump all over anyone who dares to complain. Demanding the "thread be locked", good grief.
  11. Are these available for sale anywhere? I love the idea of illegal op code compatibility.
  12. Ugh, bought it and got some terrible documentary movie too. I'm sure it'll be fixed soon.
  13. There's really no need to lie to make your point. The OP said nothing about "instant" anything. Your post made me realize why there's so much irrationally intense emotion around a simple issue of communication. Fear. You're all afraid any criticism, no matter how legitimate and mild, will lead to the boys with the toys packing up and going home.
  14. LOL, if Brad at Best sees this thread, expect prices to double immediately!
  15. That's only because Europeans have no appreciation for the early games that used artifacting for color. Ultima III, Choplifter, David's Midnight Magic, are all monochrome with this board.
  16. No it can't do geometric distortion of the screen. Yes it can add realistic scanlines. Yes it can hide the overscan area.
  17. I have several PAL, 220V STe's and Mega STe's that I'd like to put into use in the US. Would a conversion leave me with the equivalent of a US machine or would there still be issues? What would I need to do? Can I simply swap in 110V power supplies for electrical functioning, and US English ROM's to make them 60HZ? (I'll be using monitors via Best's multisync cable, RF and composite output is a non factor). What about the keyboards? I have machine with UK and German keyboards. Will they work properly with US ROMs? Thanks for any advice.
  18. Is the 1088XEl going to be open source? I was under the impression it was not.
  19. Their success is still a hard pill for me to swallow, given that they were the "enemy" of Atari in the early 80's Atari could've been a better Apple than Apple, in my opinion, had things on the business side gone a bit differently. I think the talent was certainly there. It's not like Apple was very innovative in those years compared to what Jay Miner was doing. Expansion cards and getting into schools was the key for Apple's early success I think. As a CRPG fan, and one who prefers real hardware, I do finally have a nice IIe system waiting to be explored. Ironically A8 prices are rising fast while Apple II's are still plentiful and cheap.
  20. A8RAWCONV can write ATX files directly to floppy using a SuperCard Pro board and a 360K PC floppy drive.
