  1. If it were me, I'd have tied the game to a pigeon and told it where to go. To each their own
  2. It'll work fine on your Nomad and CDX. You just won't be able to play SMS games using it on the CDX. I would actually be quite surprised if it works on the FC3. Most clones don't have all the cart pins properly connected and don't provide full power to the cart slot.
  3. The CDX does indeed play SMS game, just not with this cart. There seems to be some incompatibility. Genesis / Mega Drive games work perfectly on it. Chilly Willy posted a review of the cart on Sega-16. Chilly is pretty much an expert in these carts, having done a good deal of development on the Neo Myth flash cart (which I currently own). http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11013
  4. There's no emulation used here. It runs ROM files on the original hardware. Just think of it as a Harmony cart for the Genesis.
  5. Please add me to the list, as long as shipping to Hong Kong isn't a problem.
  6. I've never played Pitfall 2 on the 2600, but I have beat it on the Colecovision. I had no idea there's an actual end to the first Pitfall though!!! I think I'll need to get back to that ASAP!
  7. I'm currently looking to add a Sinclair ZX Spectrum to my collection and am hoping someone might be open to trade for a PC-Engine CoreGrafx system (all cables and one controller included). I would prefer the 16k Spectrum with a 32k add-on, but would also consider the 48k version. I'm not very interested in other models, as I prefer the small size of the 16/48k units. If interested in a trade, send me a msg here.
  8. I'm actually starting to think the scans I've found online are the only games that had overlays. I could have sworn I had an overlay for Gateway to Apshai as a kid, but reading through the manual it looks like there was never an overlay created. For anyone else looking for overlays, you can get them here. http://www.steverd.com/overcol/coleover.htm
  9. I've been looking all over the place for scans of Colecovision controller overlays. I haven't been able to find a site with a good selection. All the sites I've found seem to only have the same 15 or so overlays. I'm hoping there might be a more complete set somewhere.
  10. Nestopia is the most accurate emulation available for the NES, while FCE has a few more 'bells and whistles'. I use Nestopia myself.
  11. Definitely not I own 2 Colecovision consoles and an Adam. I still enjoy playing around with emulators though. I actually find myself playing most Adam disk/tape based games through ADAMEm on a computer, simply to avoid the long load times.
  12. This is very encouraging to hear. One of the problems I've run in to a lot of Colecovision consoles are broken solder joints on the controller or power ports. I'd say that I need to re-solder the connector on at least half of the consoles I've come by. It's great to hear that an even older console has been able to stand the test of time. Thanks for the info!
  13. Saturn emulation is on par with DC in terms of resource requirements? That means that Saturn emulation is much more demanding than N64 and Playstation emulation which is bizarre. Not really all that bizarre. It all depends on the architecture of the original system, making a Saturn quite a difficult system to tackle.

I've been following the code updates closely. There has been a lot of work going on. I'd expect to see a proper update before the end of the year.
  15. Don't bother with Colem. Dump it and download WiiColem (yes, they are in fact two different emulators). Colem has a bunch of issues which can cause users problems. WiiColem is much more reliable and has a better user interface.

Virtual Jaguar is the only project I know that's in active development. They're in the process of finalizing a major re-write of code. The developers have promised an announcement on their site once complete, then they will release a build and start working on optimizations. Their main site can be found here: http://icculus.org/virtualjaguar/ You can keep track of the latest updates on the forum linked on the site.
  17. One of the biggest improvements in WiiColem vs Colem (the previous Colecovision emu on Wii) is proper SDHC support. For many SDHC cards, Colem wouldn't show the list of ROMs. WiiColem works perfectly on all the cards I've tried it with.
  18. The only system I've got SSF running at any decent frame rate is my Core i7 desktop. It requires some major resources to run properly. It would never run on a Netbook. You'd even have issues running it on most laptops. The same goes for Dreamcast emulation.
  19. Not really... If too many people choose not to buy a Harmony because of this thread, Harmony 2 might not come to be at all. Projects like this require substantial investments. In the case of Harmony, my personal investment was well into the five figure range before any production carts were sold. Before I make another big investment, I need to at least break even on Harmony, and that hasn't happened yet! .. and another ! Tell me it ain't so! Falcon_ Yep, it's true. With Harmony, the main board is professionally assembled so you have to buy all PCBs, all parts and pay for assembly all at once. Other flash carts were done in small runs, which have a high unit cost but smaller overall investment. With Harmony, we did one big run and hope to have enough for a while. This is also part of the reason we could sell them for what we do (which is cheaper than just about any other flash cart.) I think Harmony will break even eventually, but it's definitely still in the red right now. I kind of wish I would have read this before ordering my cart last week. I only ordered the standard package, but would have easily ordered the deluxe had I known. Maybe it's time to subscribe to the site :-)
  20. It definitely does call the question why the No-Intro group doesn't release a proper set of 2600 ROMs. The GoodROM set is a disaster. Thankfully some great people on this site have taken the time to compile well maintained sets of homebrew. If it weren't for them, I'd have missed out on a ton of stuff! Btw ... OldSchoolRetroGamer ... I'm a huge fan of your vids! Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to continue making them!
  21. Sorry if I've missed it, but could you point me to the MacOS version? I've looked all over this site and haven't found it. Also, do you know if Geoff Oltmans has a site to track his progress with this emu?
  22. I'm finally geting back in to the Atari 2600 scene, after not having one since the mid-80's. I have a lot of other retro consoles and each have their own list of common issues which need looking after (NES cart slot cleaning/replacement, Sega Genesis cap replacement, etc.). I was just wondering if there's any common maintenance that people tend to do on 2600 consoles after buying one. Right now I'm looking to acquire an Atari 2600 Jr., but I'd eventually like to get a 6-switch unit once I move back home to Canada at the beginning of next year (I'm living in Hong Kong at the moment). What are common issues I should be aware of with these systems and should I look at replacing any parts once I get one? Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!!! Also, if anyone here has any idea where I might be able to acquire a 2600 Jr. in Hong Kong, please shoot me a note!!!
  23. With 141MB of Atari ROMs, you must have a ton of duplicates. I have about 20MB, which includes the latest hacks and homebrews archive. I kind of wish I'd have kept some of the 64MB SD cards they used to pack in with digital cameras. One of those would have been perfect for the Harmony :-)
  24. I figure this might be a long shot, but I'd like to get an Atari Jr. (must be NTSC). I'm currently living in Hong Kong and would prefer to deal with someone locally, as shipping can be quite high. If anyone here is in HK and happens to have an Atari Jr for sale, please let me know. For those interested in a trade, I have a PC-Engine Core Grafx system I'd be willing to discuss a trade for.
