Thanks again, all ... To answer your questions, yes ... it's all copper foil on this one, though I have done some leaded work also, in the past. The dashes are just small pieces of copper foil, with a large 'bead' of solder on them. It's definitely fun stuff to do - I may have to get back at it ... been a while ....

Hey, All: My husband just showed me this thread, and basically made my day! Just thought I'd pop in and say thanks so much for all the kind comments on this ... was done quite some time ago, but very gratifying to hear that it's liked so well. Perhaps I'll have to make another one, one of these days ... any suggestions on a color scheme? Thanks again!

Just thought I'd post: Schizophretard = in my book. Glad you like the Power Lords box!

Have just enjoyed a perfectly smooth transaction with this gentleman. Would do so again, happily, anytime. Thanks much, littleman jack!

We all know this ... they don't come any nicer than Noel. Always a pleasure to work and play with.

In agreement with all the other lovely feedback on this AA-er ... a pleasure to do business with.

First time working with toymailman: Perfect! Would do business with any time ... thanks once again for your purchase of the Power Lords box.

Just enjoyed my first transaction with Mr BennyBingo. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat!!! Perfect buyer. Thanks, Ben!

Hi, all! Thanks so much for the lovely compliments ... always feels good to have your work appreciated. Bumping this one last time for anyone who might have missed it. Boxes are done, and I went ahead and made two more than I have firm requests for, so there are still a couple left, if anyone else wants one. For anyone who has already contacted me, please check your private messages. Thanks again!

Sounds to me like you're lucky your "laundrymat" hasn't shrunk your clothes to match your sense of romance ...

Yup! Yup! This is the one for me!! (And I think I might need to order one of those really nifty looking Atari Organizers, too ... you know ... for my hubby to store all his Atari stuff in ...) Riiiiight ... Thanks for the good info, folks. I'm thinking I like the spotting scope idea. Between your comments, and the little bit of research I've been doing on the subject, it appears to be an appropriate compromise for my mixed purposes.

Hi: Could use some general advice/suggestions here, from anyone in the know on these things ... Not sure whether what we really want is serious binoculars, or a telescope. What I'm looking for is something that might be good for both star-gazing and bird watching, if such a thing exists. I like the idea of a tripod for support, and my assumption is that I can get greater magnification with a telescope, but not sure how hard/easy it is to track a moving object with one. In those terms, does it make any difference what kind of telescope I consider? Any recommendations on 'strength' (or whatever the proper term is ... ) I should be looking for with this intended use? Not looking to spend a whole bunch on anything too serious, which is where the possible trade part comes in. Could offer up my skills in the areas of box/label type work, or glass work, if anyone's interested, and has something to trade that might fit the bill. Please PM me, if so. At the very least, interested in any knowledge anyone might have to share on the subject in general. Thanks!

Are you kiddin' me? With your last name, and fondness for libations of the spirited sort, I feel there cannot be much doubt that the little bean will arrive on St. Patrick's Day ... just in time to be fashionably late for cocktails! March 17th - 5:15PM -
Video of sealed Lochjaw being opened - alternate version!

LMAO!!!! 'Cheesy porn music' ... too freakin' funny! Ray Charles and the Count Basie Orchestra = porn music. (I'm sure 'ol Ray would have appreciated it, though ... ) I didn't even realize it was there. Had to crank the volume waaay up on my machine to even hear it. Very comical. And upon reflection, you ain't all wrong, but I kinda think it fits the subject matter, myself. It IS sort of a video striptease ... Thanks for the compliments on the box, but all I did was play along with CPU's little prank. I made the box - he did the label, and scary shrink wrapping, price tags, and shot the video, etc. All just in good fun, as always ... And sorry ... no sisters to share, least not of the requested variety. -
DOH! Just can't make 'im happy, can I? Thanks, all, for the really nice comments. I do have fun with this stuff. Glad you liked it. (Now ... if I could only draw, I might actually be dangerous ...)

And, maybe more 'arcade' than 'Atari' specific, but there's always "Now That Your Joystick's Broke". Done by a guy no one on this board will probably ever have heard of named Michael Franks. You used to be her Space Invader Snatching her free from King Kong's choke She's allons-y She'll catch you later Now that your joystick's broke You had it made with all the women At the arcade now you're the joke Still wear the shades But who you kiddin' Now that you joystick's broke Hurts your elbow Hurts your wrist You can barely make a fist You're the king of indoor sports So how come the circuit shorts Call the number Broken Sticks Bring 'em in and get 'em fixed There in your jeans That roll of quarters Still fills the air with lipsticked smoke Guess the machine's just out of order Too bad your joystick's broke

Wouldn't quite call it an 'intentional decision' so much as that every example I could find of the cover art already had the Supercharger logo on it, so I really did not have much choice in the matter, shy of attempting to 're-create' whatever is underneath it. (No, thanks!) For that matter, I probably should/could have used the later Starpath logo as well, but what was already in place and used in the existing art was the old one, so I went with it. The side stripe just made sense to me in terms of looking right in a line-up, as you say - call it a compromise .... Funny, but when you really start looking closely at these old boxes, some of the inconsistencies and typos are just amazing! Obviously, everyone was just flyin' by the seat of their pants, and banging out stuff as quick as they could, with little in the way of quality control. Whenever I do a straight repro box, I'm always torn between replicating the screw-up, or fixing it, since I have the chance ...

Coolness! Glad to know you got them in good shape, and even better that you like them so well. Nice pix! Thanks much for the good review.

Thanks very much to all for the nice comments. Obviously, it's great fun to do this sort of thing when people receive it so well. To those who feel they are a bit pricey - sorry that it must be so, but when you really break it all down from the time spent to the cost of materials, including things like since it's July in CA, we need to run the AC full blast anytime I'm cuttin'/foldin', etc. (Uh ... I've learned that sweaty hands and custom box making simply do not mix ... and it's been bloody HOT here!), I can't feel it's too unreasonable. Anyone who's expressed interest, but not right now, should just feel free to contact us when or if things change. I'm guessing we'll be able to accomodate. Regarding the above, THANK YOU, mos6507, for setting us straight on this. We had no idea where this artwork came from, or who to credit for it. We understood it to be prototype artwork from the time of the original release. We've only shipped a couple so far, and any made from here on will absolutely credit Dan properly. I'm delighted to be able to do so. And the only reason the raft is missing is because the (way) better of the two versions of the artwork I was able to get hold of to use did not have it! Must have been an earlier iteration that didn't have the raft in yet. The version I have with the raft is so lo-res I was not even certain what it was, for sure. And I know exactly what you mean about the time spent in clean up, as I did much the same thing here to make the artwork look as good as I possibly could. THAT is what took so much time to do here ... not just replicating the box. Nothin' to that ... it's all the hand clean up that takes forever, especially when working with images that have required significant scaling, as these did. And they're not perfect, to my eye ... wish I'd had higher res to use myself, but they ain't too shabby either, if I do say so myself. If you, or Dan, or anybody out there has better art from either box cover, I'll be happy to revise my work to make use of it. Somebody asked about inserts - no problem. Somebody asked about a Polo box ... lemme at it ... Once again, thanks to all for making this so fun to do!

Awwww, thank you, deathtrap ... How nice of you to say so (and we appreciated the nice eBay feedback as well)! Was my pleasure, and I'm very happy to hear they like it so well.
