Good luck FINDING Rez. It's been out-of-print for a while now. There's always ebay, etc., but I'm guessing that the price has been jacked up.

The 2600 version of Mouse Trap was SO bad that I was shocked when I read that there WAS a 2600 version...then I remembered that I actually *own* the damn thing. 'Nuff said. :D:D:D

Anyone remember these two 2600 gems? Taz's title screen had some of the most impressive graphics on the 2600 - an awesome looking picture of Taz. The in-game graphics weren't too shabby either. I believe the object of the game was to gobble up food before it disappeared from the screen. It's been a while since I've played it though, so I'm sure that's not an entirely accurate representation of Taz's gameplay. Either way, it was hella fun. One of my favorites. California Games came out near the end of the 2600's life cycle (in the late-'80s, I believe), so I doubt too many people had the chance to play it. Believe it or not, the 2600 version is still my favorite version of California Games (and I've played quite a few of them), mainly because of the awesome bike mode. It was insanely fast and the jumps were HUGE! Words cannot describe how fun it was to literally jump from one screen to the next. It was a rush!

I know I will sound incredibly stupid for asking this, but I got Activision Anthology for PS2 last week and I'm not quite sure WHAT the point of Dragster is supposed to be. I am guessing that the object of the game is to keep the bar going for a long period of time without burning out. Am I right? And also, the actual car isn't supposed to move, right?

Awesome article. I especially liked the pics. If you ever do any more, let us know.

You all probably know this already, but simply beating the computer in Boxing will unlock a video with Activision commercials for several games and a few short clips of some of the designers at work. That's all I've unlocked so far.

Not so fast. Some EBs do the exact same thing (tacking on an extra $5 to the price). In fact, mine used to do it, which is why I stopped shopping there for a while. When I decided that I wanted - no, NEEDED - Activision Anthology, I went online to look for it. BestBuy.com, which has free shipping, said "will ship in 5-7 days" (too long a wait when the rest of their games usually ship within 28/48 hours), my other free shipping places didn't have the game, and the rest of the retailers (Amazon, EBgames.com, etc.) charge a ridiculous 4-5 bucks for shipping. So, for once, the mall had the cheapest price. I was shocked when I called EB and they said they had the game for 30 bucks (I was expecting a BS $35 pricetag because of their past inflation tactics). I rushed off to get it, and I've been lovin' life ever since.

It was only 30 bucks at my EB. I guess some EBs still tack on an extra 5 bucks for no reason (mine used to).

Or you can buy "Activision Anthology" for PS2. Both Pitfall and Pitfall II are on it. I just played Pitfall for the first time (believe it or not) and it rocks.

Maybe I'm blind, but I looked everywhere in the game for the manuals and I can't find them. Where are they? Thanks, and sorry for asking about what's probably obvious to everyone else.

Just picked it up today... So far it kicks major sweet booty. I even love the '80s music. (Before I bought the game, I figured that I'd end up turning the music off within 5 minutes, but the relaxing '80s melodies really add to the experience.) I haven't tried everything yet in the Anthology, but so far I've (re)played: Keystone Kapers: My personal favorite. Classic gameplay that still hasn't gone out of style - even after 20 years. Enduro: Really great visuals for its time and an example of what can be done with a little imagination. Pitfall: Believe it or not, I had NEVER played this before today. Even now, I can see why it was such a big deal. Commando: Since it came out in '88, I doubt too many old-time 2600 fans got to play this. I actually had (and still have) the original cart. Even after all these years, it's still good fun. Maybe it's just me, but the controls seem slightly more responsive (except Kaboom, which I haven't tried yet, but other people here have said doesn't control nearly as well because of the lack of a paddle). My guess is that the PS2 controller is easier to handle than that horrible Atari joystick was. Also, the graphics seem a tad bit sharper. Mind you, the games look exactly the same - just crisper. Am I imagining things or is there something to what I'm saying? Either way, Anthology is awesome. Well worth the $30. It's a shame about the online feature being canned at the last second (not that I have a network adapter anyway). Here's hoping they release the rest of the games on a $10 add-on disc or something.
