  1. Rocky: Battle the Champ was the original name of the game before Coleco changed it CollectorVision just made this version to pay homage to the original name of the game. And yes, the price is ridiculous.
  2. Arcade ports are what made the CV so popular BITD so why deviate from something so tried and true. Although I really loved the 2600 ports of Kaboom, Frostbite and Adventure and would love to see the best of the best 2600 games get ported with enhanced graohics and gameplay.
  3. Hoarder!!!! BTW, I can see mine underneath your's. At least we all know that one of your units won't be showing up on eBay.
  4. Retro System Rescue / ADAM Ware made an external power supply that has been sold out for a while. They have released (as well as others) full details on how to install a power supply inside the Memory Console if you have the necessary skill set. You can contact them on their website or thru the Coleco ADAM Facebook group... send a PM to William Hicks. He is also a member here (MilliV) but doesn't check in too often. Also checkout the Adam Archive... www.adamarchive.org and Joe Blenkle's Adam website linked in the footer if this message.
  5. This is a tough road to hoe for all parties involved as far as a 2nd run pre-order. I personally would not want to put up $200-$250 on a pre-order basis without knowing if and when there would be enough orders to proceed with manufacturing. Something like this could take a couple months on up to a ?? year ??, but something tells me that once the first run have all been shipped and CollectorVision has time to work on further cores to add and updates, this will move things along more quickly. Unfortunately an option like a $50 refundable down payment if no 2nd run / not refundable if one decides not to follow through with purchase when 2nd run is ready isn't available. It's a lot more work for CollectorVision to manage and track this, so I understand. Anyway, something tells me a good number of people purchased multiple units from the first run and soon enough they will be showing up on eBay at incredibly inflated prices.
  6. Note that the Adam Image Manager program by Adam Ware (the menu program for the ADE written by William Hicks) requires a keyboard to use, but hopefully controller input will be added in the next version. Without a keyboard, you will need to use the functions buttons on the ADE to move around the directories, scroll through the image lists and make selections.
  7. Congrats on the Adam pickup and hope it's in working condition once you get everything setup. You can check with MilliV or Adamcon via PM as they should both have keyboards available at reasonable prices. MilliV might be easier to get a hold of on the Coleco Adam Facebook page, his name is William Hicks. You don't need the keyboard to play ColecoVision cartridge games as well as most Adam specific game titles like the Super Games. Just the Memory Console with one controller will do. Track down or make a DIN Monitor cable for Composite Video with Audio for best video out although RF on the Adam is pretty good. To make your own keyboard using a PS/2 or USB keyboard would be an endeavor because you would have to make your own Adamnet controller. It's been done using an old PC keyboard, but then all the key translation would have to be accounted for. The ADE is the way to go especially now that it supports rom images up to 32K. Just an awesomr hardware device.
  8. That would be the X-10 Home Automation System that was sold by Radio Shack. Alan Neely of AdamLink of Utah sold these as well as developed the software drivers.
  9. Here's some great info from John Lundy that was posted on the Coleco ADAM facebook page... This info might come in useful for tech savvy users with the ability to program EPROMs. I’ll post the 3-EPROM versions of R80 and R97 to the files section. Converting an older 4-EPROM configured console to 3-EPROM R80 configuration This all started when my first console had R77 with 4 EPROMs installed. After that, I had one with R80 with 4 EPROMs and another R80 with 3 PROMs. Some had a jumper wire bypassing the PCB A13 line and running the U22 A13 pin-26 directly to U7 (MIOC) pin-19 or also one end of unpopulated WJ5. This line appears to be used for special addressing to U22 for dealing with EOS in a 4-EPROM configuration. The schematic shows jumper settings but without any useful information about configurations. Configuration jumpers for ROM select decoder (U23) and EPROM sizes used Older 4-EPROM configuration: WJ6 – Installed WJ5 – Removed U21 2764 (ALF-3 $4000 to $5FFF of full 32K ROM image) U22 – 27128 (EOS in lower 8K and ALF-4 in upper 8K $6000 to 7FFF of full 32K ROM image) U8 – 2764 (ALF-1 $0000 to 1FFF of full 32K ROM image) U20 – 2764 (ALF-2 $2000 to 3FFF of full 32K ROM image) Newer 3-EPROM configuration: *Remove any prior wiring modifications to U22 WJ6 – Removed WJ5 – Installed U21 – 2764 (Dedicated to EOS) U22 – 27128 (R80 Upper 16K $4000 to $7FFF of full 32K ROM image) U8 – Not installed U20 – 27128 (R80 Lower 16K $0000 to $3FFF of full 32K ROM image) *Note a 27256 EPROM can be used to replace a 27128 EPROM as long as it is programmed to the upper 16K ($4000-$7FFF) space.
  10. Have you considered the MicroFox Parrallel Interface for Slot #2 instead of re-inventing the wheel. It has a Boot Prom socket that can facilitate up to a 32K prom (IDE HD Drivers, SmartBasic) that would load upon turning on or resetting the system. It also functions as an Addressor Card for expansion Ram above 64K. Last, but not least, it's cheap.
  11. On the Adam Logic Board... U21 = Adam OS (called EOS) U20, U22, U8 = SmartWriter roms for 3 chip version U20, U22 = SmartWriter roms for 2 chip version with U8 socket open. The Dallas SmartClock chip was sold by Trisyd Video Games with software for installation in U8. You mention the CV board... that is the ColecoVision OS called OS7 which is not the same as EOS
  12. Send Pboland a PM as he might not check these threads all too often.
  13. Only 18 CIBs left from the original 89.
  14. To answer one of your questions, a ColecoVision Keybaord Expansion Interface has been made and if I recall correctly, CollectorVision's Comic Bakery supports it. Here is the link: http://www.nyangau.org/cvkbd/cvkbd.htm
  15. Sean Myers ( https://github.com/Kalidomra/AdamNet-Drive-Emulator?fbclid=IwAR0YMIc-HI1ACdwOVlT82DCEd-uvHy6YFMc4ZmYyyv3831fkkQofSKySsGA ) has released V0.80 of the ADE firmware for the ADE, ADE Pro and ADE Light... Version 0.80 Added SD card directory support. The right button (mount/unmount) action has changed. A short press will mount files and change directories. A long press will unmount the currently selected drive. A long press on the drive select button will turn the boot disk on and off. A short press on the left button will now go back one directory. A long press will go back to the root. Added ColecoVision cartridge ROM support (Maximum 32k). Files needs to have a COL, BIN or ROM extension. Mounting a ROM file dynamically creates a disk image containing the required boot code and the ROM data. Nothing is saved to the SD card. In testing this feature there are a small number of ROM's that do not work. Added a "Debug Mode" option to the Device Setup menu. When enabled this will display debug information on the LCD. SD Command 0xF2 (Return Currently Mounted Disk) will now include the directory. SD Command 0xF3 (Mount/Unmount Disk) will return the file type in the block. This will enable the controlling Adam program to see the file type being mounted. SD Command 0xFA (Format Disk) now requires a confirmation step to start the format. The confirmation needs to be the next read in order to work. Added additional information to the block that is transmitted when the 0xDEADBEEF block read is sent. Including LCD name length, number of files in the current directory and the current directory string. Changed the 0xFACE format command. It is much faster now. Added support for a disk swap button. The disk swap only works on Device 4. Holding down the swap button on startup will either disable Device 5 if it is currently enabled, or enabled all of the devices if Device 5 is currently disabled. Added a check for the maximum number of files per directory. A warning will be sent to the serial port and the LCD. Fixed the hard reset detection timing while using the IDE Boot rom. If this is still an issue, using the Debug Mode can help to determine the correct timings. Fixed SD Command issues mounting D3. Fixed the LCD Name Length bug. This can now be set to any number 99 or less. Using 12 or under will enable dos 8.3 file names. Fixed the issue with programs sending continuous unknown commands and locking up the LCD. The ADE will still show that it received an unknown command, but this will not lock up the display.
  16. Haven't used this Cartridge Utility program in decades so memory is foggy, but more than likely there are numerous deleted files on this DDP and they are still taking up a directory slots as the file attribute is just changed to deleted (hidden). Using the Delete Directory option should write a new Directory to the DDP (like the INIT command in SmartBasic) to allow for files to once again be added to the DDP. Before you do so, load up the directory in SmartWriter by using the Store/Get key or in SmartBasic with the CATALOG, D1 command. If it does not display, then you got a Non-Standard format media and any further investigative work would require an Editor like supplied with File Manager to view each blocks contents to really see what's going on.
  17. I would venture a guess that your grandpa did remove the individual items from the box and plastic bags especially seeing as the data packs are not shrinkwrapped and the 2 printer cords are not neatly bound up like they were shipped by Coleco. Of course, that does not mean that the system was all connected and used and no way to know beyond a reasonable doubt. The box you have never came sealed however Coleco did ship them to wholesalers in a brown corrugated shipping box. Some stores removed the Adam box from the shipping box for display purposes and others did not. Untested in the excellent physicsl condition, I would say about $300. Tested and working, you should be able to get considerably more but you never know especially due to the high cost to ship these behemoths. Good Luck.
  18. Directory support and Rom Image support (up to 32K) coming soon for the ADE, ADE Pro and ADE Light!
  19. I did look at Congo Bongo and Gorf, but those where the ones that I was very familiar with already. The CV version of Congo Bongo has always been a favorite of mine.
  20. Was wondering what Coleco released arcade ports for the ColecoVision are missing levels? This is aside from the games that received Super Game (DK, DK Jr., Zaxxon, Buck Rogers, SubRoc) releases for the ADAM Computer that were eventually converted to CV cart format by Mystery Man. These are the ones that I can think do or might as I am not 100% familiar with the actual arcade versions: - Congo Bongo - island/hippo level - Gorf - galaxian level - Roc'N Rope - ? - Time Pilot - ? - Venture - ? With so many of the Coleco vaporware titles being released by Homebrewers, would there be interest in seeing the few Coleco titles enhanced ala Super Game updates to include missing elements and levels? I would actually prefer a nostalgic approach to such a release where the actual Coleco game is used and enhanced upon like was done with ADAM releases instead of being developed from ground up or ported from another system / arcade. Thoughts...
  21. For those looking for an easier way to get into graphics and game development on the ADAM, Vorticon has released an enhanced version of Turbo Pascal 3 for CP/M for the ADAM Computer which includes graphic, sound and controller extensions. This was all posted about on the Coleco ADAM Facebook page with links to videos and I have included the info here for those members that don;t use Facebook.
