  1. It's the simple fact that tz101 asked the same question back in July of 2010 and there were many good replies. I can see if he forgot which ones were listed, lord knows I forget what I did or said moments afterward all too often, but then just use the Forum Search Function to find the old thread. Lord knows, also, that I have posted some questions or brooched some subjects that have been covered on here previously. I have come across some that were in the Classing Gaming General Forum a good number of years ago as well.
  2. When looking at the forum list, look over at the search box. The search will be "This Forum" by default. Type a key word or words and topics with those words will come up. Niad's suggestion works great! +1 Yeah, it took me a little while to learn all the in and outs of the AtariAge Forums and then try some of the features out... I wish I would have spent a little time learning it all back when I first joined as it would have saved me a lot of time. Gotta tip my hat to Albert as the AtaiAge Forums are the best I've used and I'm glad they returned to the current SKIN after changing it during the upgrade a couple months ago. I should have said Albert and everyone who helps maintain the Forums as well as all the great retrogamer enthusiasts that are on here.
  3. Take a look at the "Collectors List" that I put together. Overlays for original releases as well as homebrews are included. I do have to double check/add some of Pixelboy's creations as well. http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_id=201537
  4. Just do a search of "Game of the Week" in this CV/ADAM Forum and you should have all the threads listed out for you without having to backtrack to the first one... which I started on 12/26/10. Yeah, I didn't think I would still be at this either after over 4 months.
  5. Self-amusement and self-deprecation (no not defecation ) are two truly noteworthy traits to own! Self-gratification is the one I try to practice the most, however!

Perhaps he's referring to the falling out between Steve Bégin and Daniel Bienvenu...? The title screens are different. That's about it. And the label is completely different. The original release has a hand drawn label design by, and correct me if I'm wrong, Daniel Bienvenu. The CollectorVision release has a computer generated label which is very sharp as well.
  7. I think it boiled down to how much they could add to the game, as far as the underwater sequences and other additions, that was already available on cartridge. I would think that it would be a helluva lot faster to add all this new stuff than to program a new game from scratch. Another factor would be that Coleco had already paid to license the game from Sega so why not get the most bang for their buck a create a SuperGame version for the ADAM. It's also quite possible that the license from Sega was only for a console release of the game and things got held up in trying to negotiate release rights on a computer and then time ran out. Last bit of thought on this would be to get another title out as quickly as possible because people and magazines were hammering them for more ADAM specific releases. It's really too bad things played out the way they did re. the ADAM and then Coleco subsequently dropping the CV & ADAM in January 1985 because they truly had some outstanding people working for and/or contracted by them that could have done some serious damage in the industry if given the proper time.
  8. VideoTunes was really an amazing piece of software, especially considering it was developed circa 1984 when not a lot of tech info was available about the ADAM. It's unfortunate that it took nearly 5 more years before a SmartBASIC player for VideoTunes songs was written by Chris Braymen, who also developed a tremendous MIDI Interface for the ADAM called the MIDI-Mite.
  9. What a bunch of shit. What is the real shame is that these systems died an all-too early death due to their creators abandoning them just when the game developers where really just getting their legs under them and starting to push both system capabilities. I am a 100% ColecoVision fanboy, but after all these years I have come to accept the simple fact that these two systems really do compliment one another in today's retrogaming scene like many others have suggested. There's no reason they can't sit side by side in people's houses in perfect harmony... who cares what system can do this or that better. After all these years it boils down to the enjoyment that they can still provide and there is no value, rating or comparison that can be placed on that. When I was 14/15 and playing these systems (as well as the Vectrex) for hours at MusicLand to the dismay of the employees, I thought the ColecoVision was the king of the hill and I still think that way (see above... ColecoVision fanboy ), but I'm sure not gonna pass up the oppotunity to play Space Dungeon just because it's on the Atari 5200.
  10. Hey Inky, got lucky and found your article in the second issue I opened up! If you are interested in seeing all the issues of the NIAD Newsletter in PDF form, use the link to Joe Blenkle's SacNews site in the footer of my posts. N.I.A.D. Newsletter with Inky\'s Game Column.pdf
  11. I voted YES to releasing a 2-player only game as I have my 7 year old son to play the game with... until he gets to good and starts kicking my arsh!
  12. Well you scared me into checking my Kevtris cart and it seems to be screwed up so it is possible that he did create the carts and they are error prone. The screen takes forever to get it to work usually comes up with the colecovision screen when I finally got it to work it started up and then after a minute it crashed and I haven't been able to get a stable enough start to try and play it again. Do we know anyone who knows how to fix these things. I wouldn't mind the lable with a screw hole and a cut at the seam if I could get the cart to work again. That would be better than a messed up cart. If it is a soldering issue, I will repair it for free for you Dan. I already sent mine back to Digital Press for Joe to take a look at/fix otherwise I'd take you up on your offer to Dan! A BIG +1 goes out to Yurkie for his generosity.
  13. SubRoc SuperGame by Coleco Electronics Prototype SubRoc is a game that should be very familiar to all ColecoVision enthusiasts being that it was first released on a cartridge by Coleco in 1983. The cartridge version was, of course, limited in size by the 32K barrier (in fact, the cart is only 20K) and therefore only offers the above water sequence. The SuperGame version for the ADAM Computer is in fact a finshed product which was copyrighted 1984, but for whatever reason (probably completed just prior to Coleco's announcement in Jan. '85 that they were abandoning the ColecoVision and ADAM), Coleco decided not to release it commercially. They instead made it available to ADAM Users Groups circa 1985 to share with the ADAM Community with the requirement that all copyright information would be removed from the program. Because of this requirement by Coleco, you will see multiple versions of SubRoc available for download that have been hacked to change two titles screems as well as to patch the program code so that it will work from disk as well as the originally supplied data pack. The SuperGame offers underwater sequences unlike the cartridge version, numerous other enhancements and a Hall of Fame, which can be cleared of high scores like other SuperGames by pressing the following keypad buttons on the controller while at the Hall of Fame screen: 9 8 9 Enjoy! 14. OK, here is another update that everyone can make to the "Collector List" themselves or wait for the next updated file to be posted. The information I am passing on here was provided on Crapahute's tremendous Coleco Box Art website and concerns further CBS Software cartridge titles that were made using the CBS Software cartridge shell and label. These updates should be made in the "Foreign Releases (Can, Eur, S. Amer)" section: Buck Rogers Bump 'n Jump Cabbage Patch Kids: Adventures in the Park Carnival Frenzy Jumpman Junior Looping Mr. Do! PitStop Rocky: Super Action Boxing Roc'N Rope Smurf (Schtroumpfs) (Color Label) Tarzan Victory WarGames And for those that haven't visited Crapahute's site, what are you waiting for!! http://www.colecoboxart.com/
  15. As far as I understand it, this version works with the Roller Controller and or Exp. Mod. #2 Driving Module. Any further details will have to be provides by Daniel.
  16. I already have a quick update re. the Imagic labels that were used. In the List Notes, I mentioned that Imagic used two different label variations.... 1 color and the other black & white. Well, actually there were THREE... 2 color variation and 1 B/W. See the picture attached below. Of all the games Imagic released, I have only seen MoonSweeper released with two different labels and this needs to be added to the list. Once again, check out the pic to see the MoonSweeper variations.
  17. Here is Version 1.5 of my ColecoVision and ADAM Cartridge Collector List. This update takes into account all the updates that were passed along to me in this thread, corrections I made and for the highlight of this update: LABEL & CART SHELL VARIATIONS I originally was not planning on adding these to the list, but since I am calling it a "Collector List", I thought it best. It also didn't hurt that ColecoVision Zone added a tremendous variation page to their website to verify info and pics I had as well as fill in a lot of missing information for releases north of the border. What would really help is if someone could provide info on all the CBS Software releases that were made available in THEIR cartridge shell and label. I have noted some of these in the list (ones I have seen firsthand or seen pictures of), but will need further assistance... as not all of Coleco's titles got the CBS Cart Shell and Label treatment but did get a CBS style box. 18. No laughing matter there especially since I will probably end up buying it as I don't feel like waiting and hoping to see if one comes up on eBay and then get into a bidding war. BTW, does anyone know if Kevin made these carts himself or if someone else like Sean Kelly or Joe Santulli assembled them. I ask this only because from everything I am reading (old forum threads), there is an above normal failure rate with carts assembled by Sean (MultiCarts) and Joe... just picked up a Ms. Space Fury from Joe/Digital Press and as feared the cart is dead even though he said in the auction listing that all was good. As he stated to me, he was learning the skill of soldering back when these were produced and the cart probably got banged around enough in the mail to loosen the solder.
  19. Kevin Horton released KevTris (a Tetris clone) in 1996 for the ColecoVision and it has a two player option - simultaneously on a split screen. The rom file is freely available for use with emulators or to transfer to an AtariMax USB or SD Cart. If you are feeling a little rich, Atari2600.com has a used cartridge (#47/100) available for $299.95! For $299.95 I think I will just play the rom. It is a great game though!!! You got that right!! Maybe if it was one of the last carts I needed and was #01 plus signed by Kevin.
  20. That being the case, it looks like you are finding more available space to add further bells & whistles!!!!

  22. You're starting to talk like Eduardo. Don't see anything wrong with that!!!
  23. Of course the ColecoVision gets some love at ADAMcon... there's a CV built-into each and every Stand-Alone ADAM! I'm planning on bringing all the homebrews that I have accumulated up to that point to show off to everyone and will also be bringing the "Heavily" modded system that I bought from you.
  24. All your hard work is well appreciated! I've waited almost 29 years to play this one on the CV, so a few more weeks or months will be a drop in the proverbial bucket!
