  1. got 10 more german games in the mail today.

    Motocross

    Der Geheimkurier

    Invasion aus der Galaxis

    Robin Hood

    Aufruhr Im Zoo

    Raumbasen-Attacke

    Schussel, der Polizistenschreck

    Alices Abenteuer

    Eddy Langfinger, der Museumsdieb

    Bobby Geht Nach Hause

    and made a discovery...

your post above and atarimania.com both don't list "Motocross Racer" (Xonox) http://atariage.com/...areLabelID=1010 as a port for Motocross when it obviously is.

I mean, it's cool that I have the game now, but knowing I can get it in NTSC was a tiny downer as I was only trying to get the ones that weren't NTSC-released already.

I got the brown-label one, which is apparently Quelle, but I noticed the back of the cartridge doesn't have that "S.S." that all other Quelle games have.

...why is that? Invasion aus der Galaxis doesn't have the S.S. on the back either... so I guess some Quelle games just didn't have that? no idea...

Input would be greatly appreciated. =)

also, I have a question about the Bobby Geht Nach Hause I have...

it's the wrap-around label from the picture here (the first one listed) http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-2600-vcs-bobby-geht-nach-hause-bobby-geht-heim_17913.html

but I'm confused, the way that page is, it makes it seem like it's a 2-in-one game, or that the other label is on the other side of the cartridge, which is not the case.

would what I have be considered Quelle or Bit Corporation? I can't see the bottom of the screen while playing to see if it says bit corporation or not... because the way my TV is, when I put a PAL game in, it's in black & white and a small portion of the bottom of the screen is cut-off.

when you look up from the bottom of the cartridge (to look at the contacts) I see a resistor and some other stuff exposed, and written on the plastic in a shiny-bronze-colored marker or something is "P.7." ...I have no idea why that's there or what it means... ....do I have a prototype? lol, doubtful, I know.

  2. So I just recently won an ebay auction for Katastrophen-Einsatz and my interest in German 2600 games was sparked.

call it weird or whatever, but I think it's really cool to have old german things.. especially 2600 games.

so atarimania says Katastrophen-Einsatz is a port of M*A*S*H. however the picture/screenshot on the scan of the box for this game looks very different from the actual screenshot they have posted for this game. I guess I'll find out when the game gets to me and I can try it out. (I also have M*A*S*H for comparison)

    anywho...

Are there any original german games that aren't ports of other already-NTSC games?

I'm sure if I spend hours researching every game listed on Atarimania under "Quelle", I'd know... (or will I?? I think Quelle is only one of the companies to release german 2600 games [or so clicking on the german flag on that site tells me])

but I'm lazy and want someone to do it for me... :-P

or at least help me out a little.

I'm just looking for a list...

like for example, the first one alphabetically is "Alices Abenteuer"

which apparently was never an NTSC release. sure it was a PAL release, but whatever, I'm looking for PAL German games that were never NTSC.

so this game would be the first on this list I'm trying to create.

    "Angriff der Luftflotten"

is a port of M.A.D., so this won't be included in the list I want.

bah, I'll just do it myself lol.

(once again this is allowing PAL ports, but not NTSC ports)

    -----------------------------------------Quelle released-----------------------------------

    Alices Abenteuer

    Aufruhr im Zoo

Bobby Geht nach Hause (I'm a little confused, is this NTSC Smurf?)

Eddy Langfinger, der Museumsdieb (apparently "Criminal Run" in NTSC, but it's not on atari age and I somehow doubt I'll ever find this game NTSC)

    Gefährliche Mäusejagd

    Der Geheimkurier

    Der Hungrige Panda

    Im Schutz der Drachen

    Invasion aus der Galaxis

    Jagd auf Diamanten-Frisco

    Kampf im Asteroiden-Gürtel

    Kampf um die Schatzinsel

Marineflieger (if you don't count Froggo's Sea Hawk as a real game... lol)

    Mein Weg

    Motocross (I think.... right?)

    Raumbasen-Attacke

    Raumpatrouille

Robin Hood (Save Our Ship--[not actual NTSC Robin Hood, different game])

    Schussel, der Polizistenschreck

    Tom's Eierjagd

UFI und Sein Gefährlicher Einsatz (apparently "E.T Go Home" in NTSC, but it's not on atari age and I somehow doubt I'll ever find this game NTSC)

    Vom Himmel durch die Hölle

    Winterjagd (I think... right?)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

......alright that's it for Quelle I believe..

PLEASE help if you know that I made a mistake or I missed some or anything...

also, theres the other companies to do...

ugh, so much time and so lazy/other things to do..lol..

    please help =)

eventually I'd like to collect the games from this list... well...some of them...maybe

  3. omg they seriously put those stickers on those intellivision boxes??? OUCHHHHHHHHH

it hurts to see that. omgggggg I hate people.

I get lucky with my local cash converters sometimes.

I recently got my 5200 there, great deal. and they've recently been selling all their games for $3 and I am LOVING it. but it's now a rare occasion to find anything there worth buying anymore.

I just have to be lucky that no one else got to it first.

  4. I believe there is always ways around DRM. It's been cracked on DVDs and blu-rays why can't it be cracked on XBox1 and PS4? I'm sure someone will come up with a hardware patch that will allow us to play the phyiscal media of these games without the phone home aspect. Every other console has some kind of mod that allows CDRs and region unlocking. Why can't that happen here?

because modding your system gets you banned from the online networks.

    auto-brick your system if they're online-all-the-time lol.

  5. honestly, I don't think it matters what type of game is made...

if an original programmer who worked on games back then made a new game now, there will be loads of interest.

    kind of a no-brainer.

I'm sure I speak for a lot of people here when I say I'll be happy with anything that gets created, no matter what it is.

There's a special collector's value to a new game from an original programmer.

....kind of how Tempest for 5200 was released recently... the original programmer helped make a once-never-released prototype turn into a completely finished game to be released through this community and I personally think the outcome was great.

come what may though, we can only hope this programmer will change his mind about creating a game for us to enjoy & cherish.

  6. just a small heads up, next time you take the game out of your atari, please pull it by the handle, and not the cart-body itself, thus pressing hard with your fingers on the actual label.... ouch.....

  7. I've read this whole thread and it is absolutely fascinating!

However I know absolutely nothing about programming, so it's starting to go a little on the 'foreign language' side to me.

All I want to say is... Dan, good luck on your future 2600 (or 5200/7800) projects, I would LOVE to buy a physical cartridge of any new game you make (being that it is within my ability to play [2600/5200/7800/even jaguar lol])

and just remember, you don't have to throw all your ideas into ONE game! Feel free to make several! Hell, even a series or trilogy would be amazing!

Go for it! I'll be here waiting to support and enjoy when it's finished. =)

  8. I have robotron for 7800 and it works fine on my very modern tv.

I would say you just need to clean your cartridges. try a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol, rub each contact on your cartridge hard, up and down on each one (then continue and do the same for the reverse side). This will probably make your games work like new.

let me know if it worked.

  9. Why does the score for Wall Ball go crazy once you turn the game on?

I just popped in my copy of Wall Ball to see what you were talking about...

it was clearly put in the programming on purpose.

it looks like it's just a random generator with a scramble sound effect.

Interesting way to play a demo for sure, but I have no real answers for you other than what I just said which I think is just a "duh" kind of answer. sorry. =P

  10. k, so I was adding games to my video game list when i got to the Star Trek for 5200 i just purchased... the Atari Age scan for this cartridge (http://atariage.com/cart_page.html?SoftwareLabelID=665) shows the "end label" as being the part where it says the title & 004-02... but my "end label" aka the top of the cartridge is the part where it says "For The Atari 5200 game system" over the red bar.

so, I guess my label is upside down, even though it looks like it's normal because when you insert the cart into the system, the picture/label is front-facing and upright, you know, like a normal label/picture should be...

so... is the Atari Age scan the upside down one, or is mine?

and I guess I shouldn't even bother asking if this makes it more rare or not... lol, I had the same issue with my copy of Miner 2049er having an upside down end label and I made a thread about it.

anyone else have an upside down Star Trek label? / know if this is a common error?

  11. I was going through my TV settings (I have a Sony Bravia model KDL-46EX521) and it appears the TV can only be in either NTSC or Canada mode for region. I tried switching to canada, and the picture of the game just went away, had to go through initial setup again to go back to normal.

so I'm not too sure there is a "PAL compatible mode"... unless it's like... working in the background, which is possible...I guess..

I still have no idea on this... but in a couple days when I get my 7800 in the mail, I'm going to try it on that to see if I get any different results.

One of these days I'll try it on a different TV, but for now I can't.

I tried fine tuning the analog to see if anything changed, and no color differences, sadly.

tried changing my Atari 2600 channel switch from 3 to 2, and still no changes.

    bah.

  12. the link is still broken...

can we just post suggestions here in this thread then?

I think you still need to add Red Sea Crossing to the list,

and I believe Springer should be higher than a 7/10.

Also, some of the adult games are harder to find than the others, so some should be higher than a 5/10

Also, possibly move Chase The Chuckwagon down a knotch, there are always a bunch on ebay. I donno
