  1. I was still waiting to know if it was NTSC! I'd have bought it in that case...
  2. Hello guys, An update on my 2600A condition Thanks Rich: I checked but it doesn't seem to be the TV. In the meantime, I got a test cartridge (not that it really matters in this case, though) and printed a copy of the service manual. I opened the machine and cleaned it (can't believe how much dust and dirt was inside!). Still, the problem persists. Here is a picture of the screen, after a few minutes of operation (it started perfectly fine as usual): warped screen image I think this can be defined as the "warped picture" in the service manual for the Revision 13 (page 5-5) which states R221 and R217 as possible causes and not the capacitor C241 as suggested in the previous posts. In any case, I did buy an equivalent capacitor and I was actually ready to try to substitute it when I read about the two resistors instead... Note that I also checked the voltage regulator next to C241 and it is fine (5V). What do you think? The fact that it starts regularly and becomes warped after a while indeed seems a symptom due to a capacitor and not a resistor in my (very limited) experience... Thanks again for any insight on this!!
  3. This looks fantastic! I look forward to testing it!
  4. Well, *Tripple* Action must be a very rare one
  5. Well, I currently have only 2 4 switch woody, a Sunnyvale and a Sears. The Sears is CIB boxed and in excellent condition so I keep it more as "museum" piece carefully stored while I play the loose Sunnyvale model so my choice is more a matter of condition/quality than taste/preference
  6. A big big lot of common games featuring also Congo Bongo (with manual and orphan overlays) and Fathom. So far price is still very cheap... I suspect the seller would make much more money if Congo and Fathom were sold separately eBay Auction -- Item Number: 250845449976?. Plus a very nice Fathom CIB from my native country: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 300572655059
  7. Fantastic tutorial! I guess my 2600 needs a good cleaning too: I'll follow all your steps!
  8. I just repaired the 32 year old Intellivision I fried last year!! I'm so happy!!!

  9. Doesn't baseball also have a "Big League Baseball" variation? Collecting all these, including also the Sears versions, will make for a big collection all in itself!
  10. Like most of the other guys, the Inty was the first system I started collecting for since it was the first one I owned as a kid (I now own 59 games, mostly CIB, with #60 on the way as I write this ) but then I soon started expanding my collecting interests to other systems and began working on the 2600 (I have about 25 games so far) plus some Japanese systems (PC-Engine, 6 games and Famicom, 2 games only so far). The great community over here was indeed a huge stimulus in pushing me to dig and actually collect all these old "treasures" and not just research and enjoy them through emulators.
  11. Hello guys, I'm back from my biz trip in Seattle and, obviously, I spent most of my free time checking and trading game stuff I bought 40+ Inty and Atari games and already sold the doubles that were in the lots. In the end, while I didn't get anything to shout about, I think it was worth the trip Regarding the Inty, the final balance was $49 and for that money I got, among other common titles that were missing in my collection: - Diner (loose) - Tropical Trouble (CIB) - Backgammon (CIB like new with color manual) - Checkers (CIB like new with color manual) - NFL Football (CIB like new with color manual) - Centipede (CIB) - Sewer Sam (loose) - The 4 "standard" Parker Brothers games (Popeye, Star Wars, Frogger, QBert, all CIB like new) Cheers!
  12. I just got a lot of Inty games where some of the included 1979 titles (NFL Football, Checkers and Backgammon) have a very nice full color manual. This is the first time I see these and the games are actually CIB in excellent condition so I am quite happy about this finding Is this specific variation much rarer than the later ones with 2 color manuals only and are there other early games that have manuals in full color? Cheers!
  13. I played it again paying more attention and I can say I somewhat reevaluated it, though I'd not list it in my top 20 yet BTW, the manual is really funny: I really liked how they made up Marvin's story to support the game
  14. You need to roam the city searching for designated buildings and park in front of them. Once in, you need to unlock a safe (or detonate it if time is running out) and escape with secret documents/gold etc. It's quite exciting once you get used to the (honestly weird) driving mechanic
  15. I'm certainly not one of those who consider it pointless. It's actually a fun puzzle game. Thankfully, it has little to do with the mechanics of solving an actual Rubik's Cube. My favorite is Game 11 (fast speed/scored per amount of moves rather than time passage). Read the manual and try a few games; you might be surprised. Interesting: I'll check it out more carefully then!
  16. That was the magic of such games and, maybe, of such pioneeristic years: no matter how simple the game actually was, we always filled it with more interesting details and exciting things to happen (like all the kids who spent hours trying to go beyond the mountains in Battlezone and discover the enemy secret base... )
  17. Fathom! (but I guess u knew it already ). Safecracker, Dracula and Swords and Serpents are not too far behind, though.
  18. I've been using ClassiClean ever since I started collecting games and I'm quite pleased with it. cheers!
  19. Rubik's cube at number 3!? Wow!! Why did u choose it? Most people I know consider that game pointless and one of best examples to describe how Atari's execs lost their mind before the crash (who would buy a $40 game when you could get the original cube for way less?)
