  1. I just got a lot of Inty games where some of the included 1979 titles (NFL Football, Checkers and Backgammon) have a very nice full color manual. This is the first time I see these and the games are actually CIB in excellent condition so I am quite happy about this finding

Is this specific variation much rarer than the later ones with 2 color manuals only and are there other early games that have manuals in full color?

    Cheers!

  2. (Now watch Roberto say, "Thanks a lot for wasting my time, Chris...I like it even LESS now.") :D

:D I played it again paying more attention and I can say I somewhat reevaluated it, though I'd not list it in my top 20 yet ;)

BTW, the manual is really funny: I really liked how they made up Marvin's story to support the game

  3. I can't figure out Safecracker at all. :? I can move and fire, but beyond that, I can't get it to do anything.

    :)

You need to roam the city searching for designated buildings and park in front of them. Once in, you need to unlock a safe (or detonate it if time is running out) and escape with secret documents/gold etc.

It's quite exciting once you get used to the (honestly weird) driving mechanic

  4. Rubik's cube at number 3!? Wow!!

    Why did u choose it?

Most people I know consider that game pointless and one of best examples to describe how Atari's execs lost their mind before the crash (who would buy a $40 game when you could get the original cube for way less?)

I'm certainly not one of those who consider it pointless. It's actually a fun puzzle game. Thankfully, it has little to do with the mechanics of solving an actual Rubik's Cube.

My favorite is Game 11 (fast speed/scored per amount of moves rather than time passage). Read the manual and try a few games; you might be surprised.

Interesting: I'll check it out more carefully then!

  5. I also like Dracula a lot, but mostly for the style and theme; the game-play can get boring after a while. I recall, as a kid, playing all night long, waiting for something different to happen. I don't know why I expected something different, but I just thought it may happen. Kids are stupid, I guess.

    -dZ.

That was the magic of such games and, maybe, of such pioneeristic years: no matter how simple the game actually was, we always filled it with more interesting details and exciting things to happen (like all the kids who spent hours trying to go beyond the mountains in Battlezone and discover the enemy secret base... :D )

  7. Hi,

It seems my 2600 (a 4 switch woody) is starting to show signs of its age: after a few minutes of gameplay (with any cartridge) the image becomes very "snowy" and altered with vertical lines proceeding in a tight zig-zag sort of pattern. If I switch off and then back on, the visuals are back to normal, just to get messed up a few minutes later once again.

Anyone had a similar issue before?

I guess it may be a problem with the RF modulator. Any way to easily fix this? Or it can be due to some other reason?

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

    Roberto

  8. I'm still in the early stages of my collection so I'm focusing more on the great classic titles, albeit common, than on the obscure, rare ones. Anyway I recently bought off ebay a Marauder CIB, which will definitely be my precious one (but didn't get it yet...)

  9. Could one of us buy it and send it to you? Or would it not be worth it after all the shipping?

Thanks a lot for the kind offer! Much appreciated!

I guess, though, that the original Aquarius price plus the shipping cost of having it sent to a US location first plus the following shipping to Singapore will really be a bit too much for me right now...

    All best!

  10. Wow, Singapore? There must be tons of stuff around there ready for trading. Like, a Saturn rig that's local, that's what I would trade my Aquarius for! Not that I am offering, but as an example. Are there thrift shops around there? Do they have anything interesting??

There are a few thrift shops but I never found anything worth of attention. Anyway, if I find a local Saturn rig, I'll let you know ;)

I'm still trying to locate the old manufacturing plant where many Inty carts were produced back in the day but Singapore by now is a completely different place from what it was in the early 80s and I doubt such place still exists (almost every industrial building around here is demolished and rebuilt every few years!)

  11. I'd definitely be interested in buying it, but that's another guy who doesn't even want to ship to Canada, so I guess having it sent to Singapore is out of the question...

How much would it cost to ship to singapore from the US?

I believe Roberto comes to the US once in a while....

Yes, and I noticed somehow I always have a very light luggage on the way to the US and very heavy one on the way back... :D

Indeed, I'm coming to the US this month and have been quite active on Ebay, Amazon, Atari2600.com and even Craigslist lately: if I buy anything else I guess my school's admin staff will hate me forever (they are keeping all that stuff in their office before my arrival :P ).

    Cheers!

    Roberto

PS. I guess sending a package like that Aquarius to Singapore would cost around $40-$50.
