  1. Forgot to mention that I also got a Caanoo for Christmas. I now have every game (rom I can find) at my finger tips in a portable device the size of a Nintendo DS. Love it! Got the TV out cable also.

The Caanoo is a great device for us retro-lovers! I have a Wiz (the model that preceded the Caanoo) and it actually got much more playtime than my DS and PSP combined! ;)

  2. ... and man I'd sort of forgotten how much I loved Lock'n'chase.

yeah, it was/is one of my favorites too. Actually, at the time, I never saw the Data East arcade and thought it was an original Inty game. Only recently I discovered the original and started appreciating it even more as it is a very good conversion!

  3. I'm very happy to see there's some small italian company doing good efforts for such documentaries. We need more people like them to bring more attention to the game industry, past and present, and grow up in this field!

    Looking forward to it!

  4. here is one of those cbs donkey kong games on italy ebay. its the rare version with the white stripes and the cool more realistic mario and DK.

    My link

Interesting, what's the story about this version? Was it something released only in the PAL region?

BTW, the seller says he's willing to consider BIN offers, so the auction may end unexpectedly...

    Cheers!

  5. Yeah, some glitches are annoying (especially the AD&D ones) but I still love the compilation as a whole. After all, almost any game, new or old, has glitches and crashes...

The only thing I really dislike is being forced to find another DS to access the 2 player games: I still want to see them when on my own (and games like Utopia can be played alone!)!

  6. Welcome and best wishes from Singapore!

PS: I just realized many Inty games were made/assembled over here. I still have to track down exactly where... who knows, maybe there's still some old warehouse with some forgotten boxes!? :P

  7. Hmmmm.... I'll definitely expand my collection of meaningful titles, whether rare or common, for the 2600 and Intellivision. For the 2600, I'm still looking at some of the very early titles but I'll also focus on the last official ones to cover the whole lifespan of the system. For the Inty, on the other hand, I'll try to get some Imagic titles like Dracula, Swords and Serpents, SafeCracker, Tropical Trouble and, if I'm lucky, Fathom.

Project wise, hopefully I'll also have some time for exploring homebrew programming on at least one of these systems and, once my upcoming book on video game history is published, I'll start working on another undisclosed book project (but you can bet it will be completely focused on retro gaming ;) )

Ok, so far so good. Now let's see how many of these good propositions I'll be able to put into practice in the next 12 months! :P

    Have a great 2011!

  8. Hi,

I was just trying to order the "Once Upon Atari" DVD set from its website but the website crashed after I put in my credit card numbers... then I wanted to email asking for information but the contact page doesn't show up either. Anyone knows anything? Is this still for sale? (and what happened to my CC numbers?? ) :?

Thanks in advance for any information!

    Roberto

  9. Now you just need a loose Fathom to keep your Congo Bongo company. ;)

Indeed. Fathom ranks high in my wishlist: it was my favorite Inty game when I was a kid. I remember my parents spent a lot of money for it (I guess it was my Xmas '83 present) as such Imagic games were always quite expensive...

Anyway, I'm focusing on that mud buggies first (BTW, thanks! ;) )

  10. how much did you pay for your Congo Bongo?

$60 shipped. I guessed it was a good deal since, as I read in another topic here, a loose cartridge in good condition should be worth around $100... Anyway, I'm not sure how much a reproduction box could actually add to the item's value, though it will definitely make its storage much nicer than simply putting the cartridge in a small plastic bag like an unlucky goldfish won at a carnival game...

    Any ideas?
