  1. Phil, I was wondering if you could add more "orphan" overlays to your roster?  I have designed a overlay for people that own the AtariMax Ultimate SD Wafer Drive.  So you can remember where all the keypad buttons to see manuals, boxset ect.

I also am working on one for "TURBO".

Feel free to use my designs for other customers after...

By the way, has anyone tried the Ghostbusters ROM on their AtariMax SD cartridge? I have a nagging suspicion (or should I say a nagging memory) that the ROM doesn't work with the SD cart, for a weird technical reason. It does work under emulation though.

I have tried is with original hardware and the Ultimate SD and I can confirm it does not work...

Let me try to answer that.

1st run. Coleco license. Not compatible with French SCART CV. Paper box with foam insert. Released in December 2012.

2nd run. Same as 1st run. Some modules shipped with paper nameplates. Released late 2015/early 2016

3rd run. First compatible with French SCART CV. First gatefold box. Dropped the Coleco name (but kept the ColecoVision name). Released 2016

4th run. Dropped the ColecoVision name. Was the largest run. Released in 2017 I think.

5th run. Another large run. First with dome nameplate and new Opcode logo. Released November 2020.

6th run. Special ADAM themed run. Releases early 2021.

That is exactly the info I was after.  Thank you for the great information.

Well I've got about a hundred disc knobs, and controller cords, but not really many spare joystick shafts.  I've probably got a few laying around, but every once in a while when rebuilding a controller, I need spare parts due to damage, so I like to keep those bits around.  There are plenty of controllers on ebay for spares obviously.

    OK, no problem.  Thank anyway...

Could work, you would just need to figure out how to fasten to existing shaft, and/or determine if you would extend the shaft or not.  The modified hand controllers I've made I use a ball knob approximately 1-1/4" (30mm) which I found most comfortable, and I extended the shaft length by 1/2" (taller).  For a quick grab shifting scenario, I would definitely want a taller shaft vs the standard controller shaft length.  Color-wise to match Turbo these would need to be sanded or stripped and re-stained lighter (and less red) if you wanted it to match.  For a "cylindrical" knob like Turbo, I would start with a dowel rod probably and turn it down to the shape/size I wanted.

I have seen more brownwood balls  on eBay as well...

  6. I'm thinking I will buy these in this eBay listing.  I have two modded ColecoVision controllers with 20mm black plastic ball tops done by another AtariAge member.  For continuity, I am thinking of the 20mm version of these wood balls.  I haven't seen any cylinder shaped ones that look like they would work...  Two days ago I had never considered wood, now I'm fully obsessed with this project...

I've had that thought before.  As it was packaged with turbo, I would imagine a wooden gear shift knob (like the Turbo arcade cabinet) scaled down in size a bit.  The wheel itself also needs some weight added to it too, its a little too light weight.  Additionally the controller would need to have a straight wired cord to match the length of the cord on the Driving Module.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of the wood on the arcade.  I was thinking the blue knob would look nice to match the blue gauges on the controller.  Or a T shaped shifter if it doesn't interfere with the wheel.  Straight cord is a must, do you know the secret method to straighten them that that other guy Yurkie uses?

  8. I was one of the first people Yurkie screwed.  Modded my system years ago but it did not work when it got to me, I sent it back, he said it works fine for him. He sent it to me, and it still did not work.  I had to fix it myself, the  metal shielding was pressing too hard on a knob he installed.

Not to mention the system stunk like old cigarette smoke.

Two years ago he was going to install a ball top on a controller for me, I sent just the shaft.  He claimed he never got it, and I never got any rectification to this.  Now I have a controller with no stick...

When I had issues way back with the system mod, everyone stood up for Yurkie and cast me as the villain.  Seem more people are being taken...

    I feel vindicated...

  9. Has anything ever been available that could enable the ColecoVision Expansion Module #1 (Atari Adapter) to sit on a shelf beside or under the ColecoVision. I envision a small box that plugs into the expansion port on the front of ColecoVision with a cord, on the other end is a female connector that connects to the back of the Expansion Module. Has something like this ever been available?

  10. Just in case anyone else is wondering, I purchased 5 ColecoVision manuals from this site and was very disappointed. They are not in any way "high quality". They are colour photo copies, with washed out colours, on standard non glossy paper and then poorly sized and cut out... Do not waste your money...
