  1. Great work Shamus! Awesome to see another release of VJ after so long. Thanks for continuing to find time to put into the project. -Dan
  2. Ah, that's too bad. it was cool to see something still around and so unchanged so many years later. -Dan
  3. Speaking of JI2 I know that was still up somewhat recently but seems to be down now. Anyone know what's up? it was still fun to wander to once in awhile for nostaliga if nothing else... -Dan
  4. I honestly got sick of waiting for an opened, but complete, BSG to show up for sale. I've seen the original Battlesphere from time to time, but rarely gold. I fully intend to carefully open and play it, even though it will lose value. I'm honestly not sure if I'll resell it anyway, I tell myself I'll just rent it for a while and resell it to get (hopefully) most of my investment back, but honestly I'm not sure I'll give it up. I sold all my Jaguar stuff once when I was a foolish kid looking for quick cash, and regretted it for years. And to be honest, at this point money's far easier to come by than BSG. -Dan
  5. I finally cracked (see earlier in this thread) and I'm the one who won that last auction mentioned. I've wanted to play the game since I was drooling over it looking at the Battlesphere website years before it ended up actually being released. I had my name on the petition they had going where they wanted a certain number of names willing to buy it before the produced it. Years later, when it finally was released, I had sold my Jaguar and moved onto other things. Years later I really regretted selling my Jaguar, and bought another one. I still wanted to at least play this game, so I've been after it. I just realized that I was never going to play it unless I choked up the cash at this point. I've told myself I'll open it carefully, play through it sufficiently, then resell it to recoup (hopefully most) of my purchase. We'll see if I actually have the will power to resell it. Honestly, if the game's really as good as it's made out to be, I'd like to see it open sourced at some point or at least a ROM made freely available. It's a shame so many Jaguar fans aren't able to play what's hailed as the best game for the system just because there aren't enough carts to go around when there's other ways it could be played now. -Dan
  6. Glad to hear it's not cancelled at least. Those pesky jobs always get in the way :-) Thanks, -Dan
  7. I'd love to get a copy sometime. Looked like a great game for the jag and i've never played it. I wouldn't mind paying a high price for it as long as I had a chance to make most of it back if I played it a while and resold it. -Dan
  8. Great game. One of my favorites for the Jaguar when the game first came out. I ended up selling my Jag at some point and recently got Towers II again for $70 on ebay (opened, but complete in box) in case you're in the US and don't want to pay quite so much. They come up from time to time on ebay. -Dan
  9. Yeah, I haven't had any problems so far so all seems well. -Dan
  10. It's a port on the motherboard, and I'm glad you asked about the BIOS settings because I had looked there and didn't notice anything, but when I went to copy the settings to post here I noticed that the base address didn't match the default listed for the lo/lo_inp programs - changed that and it started working both in win98 and Linux. One quick question though... the page here says to use the -n option to test the cable - that the checksum in the upper left should change. With -n on the main screen nothing seems to happen, I don't notice any text changed... -n at the loader and it still loads the demo I've uploaded. So what checksum is he talking about that I should compare with? Thanks again, -Dan
  11. Hey all, I'm trying to transmit something (anything really) to my jaguar via BJL to make sure it's working but I'm having problems and I'm curious if anyone knows what it's a symptom of. I've got an old laptop with a parallel port and I've tried a few different things: lo_inp colors.jag (or lo_inp -n colors.jag, or lo_inp -n -8 colors.jag) on Windows XP Home (locks up at transmit-lenght is 9426, can't move the cursor and keyboard is unresponsive, have to reboot) lo_inp colors.jag (or lo_inp -n colors.jag, or lo_inp -n -8 colors.jag) on Linux on the same machine, again it stops at transmit-lenght is 9426, though I can ctrl+c to abort lo colors.jag (or lo -n colors.jag, or lo -n -8 colors.jag) on Windows 98 on the same machine, stops at transmit-lenght is 9426, though I am able to kill it and try again So I've tried both lo_inp and the original lo on a few operating systems with no luck. I'm wondering if the point it stops at points to anything in particular - is it a bad cable? bad parallel port settings? something else? Any help would be appreciated... -Dan
  12. I think most things have already been said here, but I'd like to see it released - especially open source so it can get some Linux love. I'd like to help in getting the open source Virtual Jaguar emulator working better but it's hard to motivate myself without using my favorite games to test with. I think having more tools available for the Jaguar is a good thing, there are already other ways to dump roms for those who really want to do it for the wrong reasons. There should be something out there for the people doing it for the right reasons. -Dan
  13. At least Virtual Jaguar is still being developed, though slowly, and is open source - so if it gets to the point where it's playing games well it could certainly be ported to consoles. -Dan
