  1. SUGGESTION: Add a shadow that changes sprites of increasing size as the plane's Y position lowers.
  2. Copyrights will be a big issue with this game if it was ever sold. And there was some article on Sega Master System controllers being used on an Atari 2600. I'd look into that if I were you.
  3. I have now experienced this on a TV...emulating it, of course, but it's still awesome. LCD screens run the fun I'm in the process of box and cartridge art now when I should be repairing PCs, if you don't mind.
  4. This game being a community effort sounds good. I might get started. Besides, if FIRE activates a shield, what does a sword? Will FIRE be used to pick up/drop items?
  5. I was being rhetorical in a way. It was in the smilies menu. I'm searching for an Atari 2600 for homebrew purposes.
  6. Not trying to sound picky or anything, but you think you could use the no_blank_lines kernel or would it be impossible with the current kernel being used? Just curious on the matter.
  7. Sadly, I'm not one of those guys who grew up with an Atari of any sort. Heck, the Super NES was nearing it's end when I came along, and I never even had an Nintendo 64 while I was growing up. ...I feel left out. Somebody hold me.
  8. I've recently checked on eBay for one, hoping to get in the business with my new old television. The prices for an Atari 2600 mostly go from USD$20+ for the console, games, controllers, and if you're lucky, an antenna pin adapter. Homebrew cartridges on the other hand, run up to $30 on the Atari Age shop. They're dang cheap compared to something like a Nintendo 64 now (which is harder to 'brew for).
  9. No, it is not. You start with the shield. It's the sword that you need to acquire. You start with a wooden sword in the original game... No, you GET the wooden sword in the cave in the first screen. Your shield is on the character, so therefore, is included in the assembly code.
  10. No, it is not. You start with the shield. It's the sword that you need to acquire.
  11. I'm pretty sure that in the original Zelda, not pressing anything at all (joystick or buttons) was what activated the shield. I think you were vulnerable to missiles when you were moving or swinging your sword, but could block most of them as long as you were facing towards them and not pressing anything. I don't think you had to stay still to keep it up. Last time I played it, I could move towards an Octorok and live all because of that shield. It's probably directional-based.
  12. I just tried out the latest demo and no, it is not one of those games that is easier with a joystick. D-pads are where it's at in those cases. So far, it's great, havn't played the two-player mode yet, and so far, it's easier than Miss It!, despite the erratic cursor.
  13. I'd say D as the right tree. I don't know why, but it seems to fit any theme when there's a forest on an Atari console. Well, at least what I've played does.
