  1. Good news. The first boards are ready for shipping. THT assembly, start-up and preparing an accessories take some time, so it doesn't make sense to wait with the shipment to get all batch ready. These boards are preparing for XL/XE machines only. Boards for 800 computers have to be equipped with other sockets to fit the space inside the chassis and will be prepared when I know how many is needed. All necessary informations will be sent to PM.
  2. Try again. Mailbox was filled.

  4. Datasheet update. 1. Terminology update 2. Connectors pinouts added 2. REV register added 3. SYNCTL instead GR10SHD in the GRACTL register. SOPHIA2en_1_2.pdf
  5. I'm already fine. The final PCBs are already in production. The COVID situation can only affect on the shipping time and cost.
  6. I suppose that the blackout followed by graphics corruption indicates a drop-outs on the 3.3V power supply of the Sophia logic. There is several possibilities - damaged 5V main PSU, damaged LDO regulator, too hot LDO regulator (too high ambient temperature or too large load current), weak contacts on the socket. Have you some multimeter? Measure the voltage between ground on the MB and ground on the Sophia board (pin 3). Measure the 5V and 3.3V supply voltage on the Sophia board. Find a largest resistor (4.7ohm) near the right edge of the Sophia board and measure the voltage across it. It should be within 0.65...0.7V. Do it all carrefully because you do it on your own risk.
  7. It's an irrelevant, obvious clerical error.
  8. Schematic is the same, software different. There were also a few changes in later production - 10MHz crystal, RPM switched to 360 and apropriate software.

  10. There is an XF551 clone with two drives: http://atariki.krap.pl/index.php/XFD602 Because it is my own design, I can tell you, what is missing on the original hardware to control the two drives. It's at least one additional, external RAM byte for saving the WD1772 track register for the inactive drive.
  11. There is some delay mainly because of the health problems. Hopefully the matter will be resolved before the end of the year.
  12. 1. I know. I have a 800 machine. 2. The CPU board with the Sophia 2 placed in the GTIA socket fits between alu shield walls. 3, 4 - Sorry, I don't understand. Maybe the pictures help explain. Can you mark the clearance you are asking about? If you cut a 1"x 1/3" hole in the right wall of the alu shield, 8-9" ribbon cable is enough, but I think 12" will be good.
  13. 1. Sophia2 requires 5.5mm space above the top surface of the GTIA socket. 2. 0.8" width. What is a max. lenght - hard to say. I didn't check. What is the criterion? Presence of the image or recognizability?
  14. An additional advantage is a simplicity of the color system change (NTSC to PAL or vice versa). All you need is to change ANTIC and the main crystal/oscillator. A 4.433MHz crystal and 74LS74 IC are not needed.
  15. A few times I managed to force the monitor to work with 50Hz refresh rate by replace a main crystal with the lower frequency one. For instance 10MHz instead 12MHz.
  16. In my experience it is rather a roll of the dice. I would say much less than a half accept 50Hz. Fortunately, specifications are not always reliable. Usually claims that V freq is from 56Hz up. Despite this 50Hz is sometimes accepted. For example - DELL U3014, DELL U2913WM, LG W2600H.
  17. Short and clear declarations will help me efficiently prepare the production. Any questions about the device, suggestions and demands are here: Thanks.
  18. As I already said, the output is a standard, DVI-I connector. Like on the picture: If you want to connect a VGA monitor, you need a standard DVI2VGA cable. Like on the picture:
  19. @Rybags It seems the Sophia works properly. @Mclaneinc Yes. All you need is a cable. Easy to do.
  20. 1. I'm not sure, what do you mind. Can you confirm? GTIA colour only mode means Graphics 11, right? The background luminance is always 0, the foreground has a luminance from the COLBAK register, right? Is that the question? 2. I suppose I understand. The answer is - yes.
  21. I will open a separate thread for the preorder.
