All that nerd rage made me wish I was never a fan in the first place.

It's hip to hate star wars. I therefore am not hip.

It wasn't like this when I was a kid, and that isn't just rose-colored nostalgia talking. I remember energetically speculating with friends about "Return of the Jedi" and how it would end, so we were definitely enthusiastic about the movies, but today's "fan culture" is more like a cult or a religion. I don't remember seeing grown men with giant beards, dressed in goofy costumes, crying like children at movie trailers.
