If I'm thinking of getting a PS4, and I'm not interested in "Triple A" or virtual reality games, is there any reason for me to bother with a Pro model?
No reason that I can think of, unless as others have said you're interested in the tiny amount of 4K content out there. Personally I'd say go with the standard model since 4K television is kinda like the Atari 7800 XM. The hardware exists but there isn't much in the way of stuff to play on it.
Like the Xbox One X, games have to be upgraded to take advantage. There is a turbo-boost mode to improve the performance in unsupported games a bit. If you think you might go 4K, future proof. If not, you will probably do fine with the regular one.
