Players of modern dungeon crawling games aren't averse to a few charts. Although most of the games I've seen handle monster spawns by way of card draws, or by the GM playing their own cards in a competitive crawler.
Most crawlers use tiles, so your thoughts above immediately brought to mind area tiles with symbols on them indicating which monster spawn cards would be compatible. For example, a graveyard tile might have a skull symbol on it, so when drawing a monster you can only spawn one with a matching symbol.
In terms of combat in crawlers, I prefer most of my enemies to be popcorn enemies. I want to hit them and remove them from the map. I prefer rolling dice pools, and I certainly don't mind if the monsters get a defense roll. So, there's my two cents.

I suggest a Chessex Battle Mat (check Amazon). You can use VisaVis overhead projector markers to draw on it like your dry erase board. They come with either hex grids or square grids or both in a few different sizes.
Also, try searching for Fantasy Creatures Action Figure Playset on Amazon. I haven't bought one of the packs that pop up, but I've heard they're good for people just looking for some disposable placeholder miniatures. Reaper Bones miniatures may be of interest too.

I mostly agree. I didn't feel anyone was really a character in this film, just automatons checking off items on a franchise checklist. Personally, I didn't like Vision. I thought his character was extraneous and irrelevant. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver similarly felt superfluous. As you said, it was jumbled, and had too many characters for any of them to get any focus. What character moments did exist felt random and strained.
It was very much like a big crossover comics event with lots of characters. No character gets any real exposure and all of them act out of character so the event can move forward. You're probably right that this is what the Marvel Cinematic Universe will look like going forward.

I need to buy this series as well as something to play it on. I really miss it.
I don't want to see a remake, though.

I used to love programming in BASIC on my Vic20, C64, and Apple IIc. It's been years since I owned any of those pieces of hardware, and just as long since I coded in their languages. Since then I had gotten quite used to more modern languages and their features.
I recently purchased Petit Computer for the DS (lets you program in BASIC on the DS) and it has been quite a shock all the things I've been taking for granted. For instance, there is no such thing as a group of statements in an IF... THEN. If I want to execute more than a single command I have to call a subroutine (or a reasonable facsimilie since there are no explicit subroutines either). So far I can find no indication of user defined functions with encapsulated variables. And there's no indentation for readability. It takes quite a bit of adaptation to move backwards.
Thank goodness there are at least named labels so I don't have to reference specific line numbers in Gosubs.
So, I feel your pain.

I guess I need to jump more.
My wall is right before the yellow webs.

Ah naw, you did NOT just stick Phoenix outside the top 10.

I play this game just about every time I power on my 7800. Sometimes I get lost in it and just do nothing but play game after game of Phoenix. I'm not as good as you though. My high score is only in the 50K range.

I've never heard of this one. I might have to load it on the Harmony and give it a go.

Yep. I learned the day had finally arrived because a Rerez video appeared in my Youtube recommendations. I updated the firmware last week. Played my first game of Starfox in a while.
I used to be really good at Starfox. Now I suck, but, in my defense the pad I was using was a little iffy on the down and right.
I need to get the SNES mini Starfox 2 rom, so I can finally play it after all these years.
