I looked over the upcoming releases and only found the following which interested me: River City Ransom (GBA) = I understand this is already out. I like beat 'em ups, but they have to have a certain feel to them. As examples of the genre that I like there's Streets of Rage 2 and Double Dragon Advance. Will RCR make me a happy camper? Or does it have more of a mind numbing button masher feel like the Capcom Final Fight style of scrollers? Tales of Symphonia (GC) = I have enjoyed the US released Tales chapters so far, so I was initially looking forward to this. Then I discovered it was going to use the cel shading technique and it dropped greatly in interest. However, it does have character designs from the same guy who did Oh My Goddess and Sakura Wars, and there is that little thing that I enjoyed all the previous games. Then it's by Namco, a company which has seldom disappointed me with their product. Finally, it seems to be the only game coming out in the entire month of July that I have any interest in. Does anyone have any details about this game? I'm still trying to make a decision. Phantasy Star Trilogy (PS2) = I already have the GBA version. Is this version spiffied up or anything? Growlanser: Generations (PS2) = Initially I had been informed this was a standard FFesque CRPG. Today I discovered it seemed to be a tactical RPG, my favorite genre of game. Does anyone have any further information on this one?

Tell Nintendo the classic titles you want on GBA!

I say Balloon Fight. -
I didn't notice that Adrian M was the author of this thread. I have him on ignore, so I'll just assume this is going to be another X-Box fanboy rant and move on. In the future, please place [X-Box] or something in your title so that I can know these threads are to be skipped.

I think that's the case too. A lot of crappy and marginal games get called great because they're made by Treasure, Sega, Square, and others. Personally, I didn't like Guardian Heroes. I found it an extremely poor example of the scrolling brawler genre.

The only game I have played this month has been City of Heroes. I race home from work to play until midnight or 1AM. On the weekends, I play all day. Pity me.

The Top 5 most influential games of all time!
Gabriel replied to figgler's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Pong = The whole video game business was started with this one. It proved there was a large audience for the entertainment form. Pac-Man = This elevated videogames to a worldwide phenomenon. Pac-Man lodged videogames firmly into popular culture for the decades to come. Street Fighter 2 = This game temporarily reinvigorated arcades before it also destroyed them. It refined the competitive game genre and defined the 16bit home game era. Doom = While Castle Falkenstein started the craze, Doom entrenched the FPS genre into gamerdom. Personally, I feel this game, and the genre it represents, is devoid of any true merit. However, FPS games sell, and it is likely that within the near future there shall be nothing but this genre of game. Everquest = While Ultima Online can also claim to be a largely successful MMORPG, EQ seems to have more brand recognition. EQ proves that you can get players to pay for the same game month after month. It represents the future of videogaming in its pay to play model. -
I'm sorry. I fully intended to participate in the initial attempt to get a HSC together, but it seemed an inordinate amount of time passed and a game hadn't even been chosen. Plus, I've recently become addicted to City of Heroes. It has eaten up all my gaming time. So, despite my fanatical love for the 5200 and its games, I can't see myself participating for the next few weeks. Then there's the matter that Front Mission 4 and the GBA Shining Force come out next month. Too many games, too little time to actually play them.

Midway Arcade Treasures 2 game list!
Gabriel replied to Agent X's topic in Modern Console Discussion
How will they handle two player in Steel Talons? Cuz Steel Talons without the two player versus mode isn't worth shit. But yeah, other than that tiny nit, that game list made me make a mess in my underwear. -
so... what is the game for this week actually going to be? Looks like Joust is easily the lead runner in the voting.

FS: Get Your Fill from the Buffet of Atari Carts
Gabriel replied to cvga's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
And now it's time for me to say. DOH! The games I had asked for arrived today. cvga has fulfilled his part of the bargain. Everything works, and everything is fine. So chalk it up as a case of me being impatient and worrying too much. -

If no one is willing to PM me cvga's e-mail address (I understand the potential for privacy issues), could someone with his e-mail address please send him a message for me? Fellow posters? Mods? Anyone? If I can't get in touch with him, I see no other option other than cancelling the check. So, please, if anyone can help me out here, I'd appreciate it. -

Gabriel replied to cvga's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I hope I wasn't seeming like I was calling into question cvga's integrity as a trader. At this stage I'm just wondering what is going on. I've PMed cvga and received no response. I conducted all negotiation through Atari Age PMs, so I don't have an e-mail address to direct correspondence to. There are signs he hasn't messed around with the forums since April 1. At this point I see two options: cvga is busy and hasn't had time to login and check the boards or cash my check. Or, the option I'm more worried about, my mail didn't reach him. Could someone who also traded with cvga please hook me up with his e-mail address, so I could try that avenue? Thanks. -

Gabriel replied to cvga's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Has everyone else got their stuff already? It's been a couple of weeks since I mailed my payment. The bank is still telling me that the check hasn't been cashed. Needless to say, I haven't gotten the games yet. cvga seems to have dropped off the board the past couple of weeks. Does anyone know what's going on? -
Sometimes, around the eighties waves, the game gives you extra men for every enemy you shoot (not smartbomb). However, this doesn't always happen. The last couple of times I played this didn't occur. I have no idea if it is a bug or just some kind of reward. I've also never personally seen it happen on the lower waves. I always play the game on hard difficulty. The only difference between the difficulties is initial speed and speed increase. All the difficulties reach the fastest game speed eventually.

It pays to watch those little clips. It's actually "the other guy" (I forget his name) in the interview that mentions that Blaster was originally programmed for the Atari computers and then later made for the arcades. Jarvis then goes on to elaborate that both games were smothered by the Great Videogame Crash. I always figured that Blaster had been released on disc or something for the Atari computers. I don't know much about what was available for them. It only occurred to me recently that not only would a 5200 port be extremely reasonable, but would have made a lot of sense to do precisely that for a high action/arcade style game like Blaster. I would have begged for this game back in the day. I absolutely adored the space fighter sim/shooters.

That's nothing. A few years ago NIB copies of NES Final Fantasy were going for well over $100.
