  1. high score Edit: Since this post, I've managed to get 294,400. I'm having a problem cracking the 300K mark.
  2. This is the problem I was having in MESS. You finish stage 1-1 and then you go through the "time tunnel" which is a series of rings that fly by your ship. You're supposed to pick up humanoids on this stage, but in MESS the humanoids don't appear. Then the time tunnel stage ends and a starfield stage begins. But no enemies appear on this stage either and the level just goes on forever. No matter what level you start the game on, you only get one level of actual fighting and then you get stuck on a level where there are no enemies to shoot. Atari800Win doesn't seem to have this problem tho.
  3. Thanks. Atari800Win is working great. The game is fantastic.
  4. Anyone know of a good emulator to try that works under XP? I don't think MESS is working properly for this game.
  5. I have that game for my X-Box. Personally, I think this game got a raw deal. No, it's no Ace Combat 04. Yes, the character CGI looks like crap. However, most of the other things I've seen mentioned in the professional reviews are outright lies. It definitely doesn't deserve the 2/10s and 4/10s that it has received in its scores.
  6. Last night I played: Midway Arcade Treasures (PS2). Specifically, some Blaster, followed by Defender, Robotron, Splat, and Bubbles. Then I played some Joust on my Atari 5200.
  7. On the plus side, I suppose it means that Nintendo is actually going to start manufacturing more Cubes after stopping production a few months back.
  8. I checked this out in MESS last night, and even though I couldn't really control anything due to the emulator, I was extremely impressed. I'm very interested in acquiring a cart of the final version.
  9. While I have no doubt that Nintendo would release each of these games exactly like this for $30 a pop, I do doubt they would use that packaging.
  10. I've always figured this was the reason too. I always wondered more about the decision to move the difficulty switches to the back and make them tiny.
  11. I do believe that it was stated in one of the threads pertaining to the game that the binary would be made public after the show, but no reproduction carts will be sold.
  12. Vidgame.net says that it had a US lifespan of 1999 to 2000. At that time I was busy being jobless, burying myself in loans, and going back to school so I wouldn't have to flip burgers for the rest of my life. Still, I find it amazing that I missed it entirely.
  13. I got my UK version of Faselei yesterday. Eplayplay got me my stuff pretty fast. Packaging left a bit to be desired though. I'm still in the euphoria stage of game purchasing, but I think Faselei is pretty damn cool. It's amazing that its mechanics haven't been in a tactical RPG before. I'm finding it pretty innovative, in a good way, at the moment. Hopefully it won't get frustrating. For those uninitiated to Faselei, it's like a mecha based tactical RPG. It's similar to Front Mission 3 or Zone of the Enders: Fist of Mars. The twist is the way you give orders to your units. In most games of this type, you usually can give a "move" order where you move your unit around the battlefield and then an "attack" or other special order where you perform some sort of action. I've played a fair share of tactical RPGs and none of them really deviate from this formula. But Faselei instead gives you 5 action slots to put your actions into, and then you hit OK to execute them. Then your five actions play out. An action is a thing like taking a step forward, turning to the right or left, firing a weapon, or reloading ammunition. So, an example of a turn's orders might be: Walk Forward, fire primary weapon, turn right, fire primary weapon, walk forward. The enemies do this too, and each round's actions play out in a sort of real time. In the example above, if my first firing of my primary weapon killed my target, then my target would never get a chance to execute their actions after the second of the round. I also got Reversi and stayed up until 2AM last night playing it over and over again. Damn, I'm tired. Suffice it to say that I finally understand where the love for this handheld comes from. It's great, and I'm finding more and more reasons to resent the fact that it was discontinued out of the blue. I mean, it even had an Ogre Battle game! And I never even knew this handheld existed during its lifespan.
  14. ::sigh:: One of my online buddies was chatting about the Turbo Graphix 16. Now I'm curious about the system and wanting to know more about it and its various incarnations and upgrades. Does anyone know of any good sites to check out?
  15. Another NGPC question. I'll just revive this thread instead of making a new one. Yesterday I wandered back into the store where I got my NGPC. They initially had 6, and only had 2 remaining, so they're selling like hotcakes for that shop. One thing I've noticed is there seem to be two different variations of the Pac-Man cart. There's a white label and a blue label. The white label features the modern anime style design of Pac Man. The blue label features the four ghosts. Is there any difference between these carts? Are they anything other than a label variation? Or were they different country variants?
  16. I'm pretty sure that my choice would be a Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator upright. Although, I have to admit that a Space Duel would be a temptation.
  17. Giga Wing. I'd definitely skip on the other three.
  18. I thought the thread was going to be about Mortal Kombat as well. Sadly, it isn't. Would have been more interesting reading for me, anyway.
  19. I just got a Neo Geo Pocket Color today and I was wondering some things about it. First off, does it have any kind of regional lockout? My initial research points to a "no" answer, but, perhaps, someone here knows otherwise. I want to play Faselei! and it looks like the UK version is my option there. Next, for link play does each player need to have a cart? Lots of nifty fighters for this system. That's it for now.
  20. Blaster? I remember in the interviews on the PS1 and 2 discs that Blaster was originally intended to be an Atari computer game.
  21. Wild Gunman is the best NES lightgun game. Set it on "Gang" and blast away.
  22. The advertisement continues to pay off. Just a few minutes ago, one of my coworkers wandered into my office with the following: Genesis Model 2 A Sega AC adaptor (presumably for the Genesis, but maybe not) SNES AV cable Sega Genesis 3 button controller Third party Genesis 6 button controller with autofire 6-Pak Columns Sonic & Knuckles Nickelodeon AAAHH!!! Real Monsters Taz in Escape from Mars She told me the system didn't work. It may just need the proper RF cable and a cleaning. Right now all I now is that the power LED lights up. To me, the best thing out of this batch is the 6 button autofire controller. I had been looking for one with a decent cable, so this saves me some cash.
  23. I really need some shelves. Your stuff looks so neat and orderly. I'm jealous.
