I was not aware that FFV was available on the PSX. I guess it is time to start hunting.
There ya go. Hunt over.

Mail call!! Got to play it. Like aome of you said it moves one notch at a time, and it will take some time for me to get used to it. Other than that I enjoy it.
Have fun with it.

Hey guys, I am seriously thinking of wanting to buy the 7800 version of K.C. Munchkin. I of cpurse never owned or played it. I for one never owned or played an Odyssey 2. And considering the system is old as I am. I want to hear some feedback to those that have got the 7800 homebrew. Is it a great game? Are the controls great and responsive? And is it worth the $30 to pick it up? I am highly intrigued by it and like to add this baby to my huge game room. Any thoughts and insight is much appreciated. Thanks!!!
Yes. I am highly satisfied with it. It plays great and has a highly addictive play quality.
The controls are responsive, but keep in mind that KC Munchkin moves on large "tiles" and must move entirely to the next "tile" before he can change direction. On lower levels when KC is slow, this makes him feel unresponsive, but this isn't a flaw. It is instead a feature and a distinguishing quality of the game.
If you get tired of the basic maze, there are still two others as well as invisible mazes. If you get tired of that, you can make your own mazes.
Is it the best maze muncher for the 7800? No. Pac Man Collection, Super Pac Man, and Jr Pac Man are all better. However, if you already have all of those, then KC Munchkin is the next logical choice. If you don't have all of those and instead just want a simpler maze muncher, then KC Munchkin might still be something you'd want to add to your library.

The only way I could re-download them is look for them in your account settings in the dreadful "download list" and do it that way.
I'm about to have 1,000 items in that list. Imagine how I feel.

I bought Metal Slug 3, but I haven't played it much. Hopefully I'll get some time with it this weekend.
I already know I hate the zombie level. I disliked the mummy level in X, but learned to just go with it. The zombie level is much more irritating, from zombies that take a zillion hits to kill, to the LOOOOONG animation that plays whenever you screw up and get zombified.

This thread makes me realize I consider the PS2 era consoles retro. Even the 360 and Wii are in the grey area now for me.

After flipping around on a few games I seem to have finally settled on Time & Eternity, the hand drawn jrpg. Not too many video games start with you being murdered at your wedding. ^^
Good luck with that one. I bought it a while back when it was drastically marked down, and kinda wished I hadn't bothered.

I'm sure the mounds of cash and hot women will bring him back to retrogaming eventually.
Wait..

I think he's talking about all those cartridge to tape/disk libraries that are on the site. There are a ton of them.
I'd never heard of Star Trek Super Game before. Neat! I wonder how far along that one got?
Yep. That's what I was referring to. As I browsed the list my first impression was that it was a bunch of cart dump utilities and disc collections of cart games. I used to see pirate discs of C64 games and utilties all the time, some even with official looking branding, and the stuff on the linked page looked similar. I didn't pay close enough attention and I didn't know what I was talking about, so my apologies. No harm was meant.
As for Super Star Trek, I can't think of much they could have added. Did any CV or Adam game use voice? I suppose they could have added in the asteroid and comet levels from the 2600 and 5200 versions. The description doesn't make any mention of Romulans or new enemies.

The screenshot can be seen on this page (scroll 3/4th of the way down): http://www.sacnews.net/adamcomputer/00_csl-bc.html
Considering the other things on that page, I'd guess that it's just a dump of the cartridge game to disk.

I like Sonic 1 and 2 and CD to a lesser extent. Sonic has basically been absolute crap ever since then.
Still, those three games by themselves beat out the entirety of the Mario franchise for me.

Been playing Muramasa Rebirth on that Vitatv so I'm kind of hooked on that at the moment.
How is Muramasa Rebirth? I didn't enjoy Odin Sphere, but Muramasa Rebirth looks pretty and shiney.
I've been playing some Civilization Revolution recently. I used to play on Emperor difficulty. Now I'm having problems with Warlord. My skills have completely atrophied.
I put in some time with Military Madness: Nectaris. I'm only a few battles in. I probably won't stick with it, though. Increasingly, all it's doing is reminding me I could play Field Commander on my PSP.
Saw that Q*bert Rebooted is on the store, so I played Q*bert 2.0 instead. I had one pretty good game. Then I had six or seven games in a row where I couldn't even get past the first pyramid without dying.
I've been playing Metal Slug X off and on. I remember I didn't think very well of this way back when I got the disc version for my PS1, but now it's scratching my run and gun itch nicely. Since I just hit Continue until I finish, I like how it keeps track of how many credits I've used at the end game screen.
Yep, still playing Project Diva F 2nd. I also picked up Shock Troopers but only played it once so far.

Ephemeral Fantasia for the PS2.
Oh yes. That one is awful. I paid $3 for it and couldn't even get enough enjoyment out of it to be worth that much. It's not even funny bad. It's just bad bad.

My 320G slim had the Blu Ray drive die after about two years of light/moderate use. I deactivated it and recently reformatted it, but I haven't gotten around to sending it in for repair.
I replaced it with a 500G superslim. It has been much more heavily used since during it's watch I've retired the 360 and Wii and it has become my undisputed primary console. No problems so far. ::knock on wood::
The door is cheap, but at least I don't have to worry about it eating one of my discs like my original 60G did (requiring me to take the whole system apart in order to retrieve my disc).

Missile Command, Adventure, and Pac-Man hit my nostalgia button the strongest.
I also have to admit that Sherbet Shooter (Asteroids) takes me back to lazy early 80s afternoons as well.

Any opinions on Arcana Hearts? Its in my shopping kart but I haven't pulled the trigger....
My opinion on Arcana Hearts is get anything else instead. Try Aquapazza. It's much better in every way.
Mord: Isn't the Mikudayo that head piece thing you can buy in game for 393,000 DP? I downloaded it because it was part of the costume club, but I haven't seen it on my module lists. I hardly ever go into the parts customization, though.
I've picked up Metal Slug X and Shock Troopers as part of the regular SNK sale going this week. I'm thinking about Geometry Wars, Tekken Tag 2, and Vandal Hearts. I'm probably going to skip Dynasty Warriors 8 XL because I still haven't done everything in DW8, and have Warriors Orochi 3 and Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn to grind through.

I don't know which one it is, but the only reason I liked the NES Ms. Pac Man was because of two player simultaneous play. But the Genesis version does the same thing and looks vastly better. Even though the Genny's graphics are redone to look 2.5D it still looks closer to Ms Pac than the NES one does. The look of both Pac Man and Ms. Pac Man on the NES just bugs me.
So, if I want two player simultaneous, Genesis version. But for anything else, 7800 Pac-Man Collection.
-
What would you say are the best ported versions for the 7800?
I'd rather play Pac-Man Collection on the 7800 than any of the same games on the various collections. The same goes for Super Pac.
Astro Blaster is better on the 7800 than it is playing it on the PSP.
I'd rather play Centipede on any of the old Atari systems than the versions on the PS1 or PS2.
Whether I prefer Space Duel on the 7800 or a modern system depends on if I'm in the mood for the tether bar.
Joust and Robotron are a bit iffy. If I had a controller coupler for Atari sticks, the 7800 version would be my go to version of that game. Joust is pretty much equally fun wherever I play it.
In any event, it's quicker to power up and play any of the old games on the 7800 compared to loading them up on the modern systems. I can probably play a complete (although poor) game of Centipede on the 7800 in the time it takes to merely reach the game select menu on Atari Anthology.

I've started to enjoy playing the ports to the old 80s consoles more than the collection versions, at least for the games from the golden age of arcades. There are a few exceptions, though. For instance, Galaga is vastly better as an emulated collection version than playing the 7800 version.

I picked up Resogun and Lumines Supernova while they were on sale for $3 each. I only played Lumines once, and I've played several games of Resogun. Resogun's pretty cool, I suppose. I did have a hard time at first figuring out what was happening to cause the humanoids to die in their cubes or get out of their cubes to begin with.
I tried the demo for Savage Moon since the game was another one which had been marked down to $3. The whole thing of tower defense games is a ship I feel has sailed. I liked the first tower defense game I played (the Final Fantasy one), and initially thought this game looked cool back in the day, but now I find the whole genre disinteresting. I'd rather play a game where I really build things up or a game where I really control troops, like Civ or Starcraft.
I started a new game of XCom: Enemy Unknown and finally got around to trying Sayuki: Journey West. I was enjoying both, but I'm just too brain dead lately to be able to dedicate myself to tactical games. I want to get back to them, but I come in from work and I just don't want to think about anything.
Yep, still playing Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd. I also went back and played some of its predecessor. I'm finally, slowly racking up Perfects on Easy and clearing some songs on Normal. I've even cleared a song on Hard. But mostly playing the game is my relaxation time where I just tap buttons and try to clear my thoughts.

I voted 5200 because that's the Atari console which means the most to me and is my sentimental favorite.
But the 2600 is the one which is my playtime favorite because there are so many games and so many favorite games.
And the 7800 is the convenience favorite. The default 7800 library isn't that great or wide ranging, but the additional 2600 compatibility makes it preferable to keep hooked up compared to a VCS. Plus, the controller ports and difficulty switches on the front are so much more accessible than a standard Woody 2600. Then there are the modern homebrews which simply shouldn't be missed.

The 7800 would have been/could be a great 'shmup' system

I'll just add to the chorus.
I hated many of the NES arcade ports I played back in the day. Millipede, Defender II, Cyborg Commando, Double Dragon, and Super Dodge Ball all seemed like absolute garbage. Most people seem to like the NES Pac-Man port, but it has always seemed off to me.
Gyruss was changed and NESified like others, but it was rather mild compared to the complete redos that Double Dragon and Cyborg Commando got. The NES version added the boss levels and that was the only big change. But all in all Gyruss was one of the cool arcade ports along with Joust, Popeye, and Road Blasters.
