  1. Yupper, I moved to Mac mid 90s.... but looking back in 2017, I can dream of fun today, as side hobby machine.... one maybe more powerful that I can do some more modern things in yet still enjoy the field of old Atari. TJ
  2. What I would like to see is a dual system.... one that can as close as possible be the most compatible classic box able to run older Atari apps as they were designed but yet on the other hand, an eye to the future, where maybe new developers with a retro flair can build upon and add to Atari, one that is more modern with Atari look and feel. One can dream... TJ
  3. I consider the AmigaOne made by A-Eon to be an Amiga, as much as say Milan is an Atari. Both machines designed to run their respective OS of choice. So I consider them the real deal. But indeed, both parent companies are long gone, but I am OK with someone else picking up the ball and playing with it Commodore/Amiga/many new Owners moved on but in my opinion and we have seen many Next Gen Amiga's, X1000 and X5000 to name 2. These were designed to be next gen Amiga. Also now a 3rd from A-Eon being beta tested A1222. All PPC, all much more modern and capable. I don't consider that failure. I consider that persistence and just getting it done no matter the odds. A-Eon been around before 2010 so they seem to be the real deal. They have some $ and goals and just plain get them done. I would welcome that in Atari-land and think many others would too. Software has also moved forward. There are apps on Amiga NG that move forward, play much of today's media, and even web browser, that although not on par with those in Mac and Windows land, are not really that far off. Odyssey is pretty good web browser and I can do most my daily web work from it, at decent speeds. Far from what Atari can do in that arena. As much as I love classic Atari, I am very happy to see a company like A-Eon put their money where their mouth is and move forward. I would not turn down someone doing the same in Atari-land either. We can enjoy our classics and NeXT Gens all the same. TJ
  4. As stated..... "one can dream!". No sense needed. Dreams are just that. There is a reason Amiga has survived all these years and went onto a more modern gear PPC gear. Expensive mind you but still happened. Someone had a dream. And for some of us, $ is spent on this dream for sure. TJ
  5. I kick myself for selling my one and only Falcon last year. Low on money and bills had to be paid... I did the unthinkable and sold a couple hard to get Atari items. Figure at the going rate I will never be able to buy one again. I will have to dream of getting a TT030 and Falcon again. TJ
  6. Cool, maybe one day I will have a need for daily use. Must say my Amiga Next Gen machines get much of that time. But classics I prefer Atari! I wish my Atari TT VGA Monitor worked on the STe. It is the one with base that meshes with the top of the TT or Mega STe case. Really sleek. But for now this SC1224 is perfect! Off to garage to find my other Atari external Hard Drives. Know I have a 30MB and maybe Syquest model out there. LOL. TJ
  7. Decided to set-up my Mega STe in my office. Maybe this way it will get weekly use. I have a nice Atari room but things tend to go stale in there... like Toy Story movie, only coming alive after I go to sleep. Maybe rotating out a system every so often and setting up in my office will mean more play time. Even slapped the Spectre GCR on there to test. Prefers a mono monitor but did work. Have to work on getting the SupraDrive running. Never used this one before on this system. Want to not wipe clean and re-install in case something good is on there. Practical Solutions wireless mouse works too. hehe Did you play Atari today? Nice rainy Sunday here in NorCal so perfect weather to stay inside and play. TJ
  8. I would go for a very hopped up FPGA based Atari too. I am one of the crazy ones I guess. I have spent thousands on Next Gen Amiga and I was not even an Amigan. But the excitement in that group is addictive and my pocket-book has suffered from it. LOL. Just paid $2K for an X5000. Would probably do the same for a blown up native Atari too, although I don't see something like that ever coming. But there are some of us out there. We do spend. An interesting example of something more affordable is the new AmigaOne A1222, or Tabor. They will sell for less than $500. 1.2GHz, high speed video card slot, etc.... So there are some folks making specialized boards in certain markets. I am not sure how fast an FPGA system can get, but if a MonSTer model came out with Atari in mind, and could one day feasbly view videos, say DVD quality minimum but better 720P and use Netsurf for somewhat real web work, it could allow some to use Atari daily. That is what the X5000 is doing.... although I use Macs and Loonix boxes for my day to day work, I use my X5000 all day too as I work from home. I watch videos, play music, web browse, etc.... things I expect computers to do for me. TJ
  9. Which I may also add, seems the Firebee may be the fastest from the ground up designed Atari compatible then. 260MHz or whatever it is. Has FPGA and DSP if memory serves. Although not a modern machine in terms of real CPU power, could be quite usable if FPGA and especially DSP were working. Seems so much potential but not enough of those that know how to work on this stuff are willing to help. Wonder if those making the Firebee should of, if they have not already, offered big discount to those that could help, get a Firebee as long as they promised to work on these core items. Would be cool that Firebee sold into the 1000s and not the low 100s like it has. Just some thoughts. But seems Amiga platform made that next step. Amiga specific machines in the 2GHz range. Guess they had more passions that did whatever it took to keep the platform alive and growing over those in Atari, qty wise. Must admit, being an Atarian now looking at what Amiga was back then, their OS did seem more capable. I still like the Atari more for the classics but for modern, Amiga has leaped ahead. Still love though the few left in Atari-land making neato stuff. I applaud there work. Atari 8 Bit seems VERY alive! TJ
  10. Is there some rights to TOS 4.92 that prevents this from ever happening? The land of Amiga is a mess with who owns what but stable enough where it seems Hyperion have a lock on Amiga OS 4.1 at least and they have developers that continue to move it forward, even if slowly. Is anyone working on newer TOS or is it a dead subject? I am not up to speed on the whole FPGA thing but does it tap out at a certain speed meaning does FPGA lock in at lower MHz speeds and not GHz like modern day machines do? Just curious. TJ
  11. Anyone else dream that we had for purchase a more powerful (in today's standards) Next Gen Atari TOS based system? Not a emulator or environment that lives on a Windows or Mac box, but like in Amiga world, X5000 that was built to run their Amiga OS. Having been raised Atari and jumped ship mid 90s for professional purposes to Mac, I do dream of such things. I have a nice collection of older Atari I enjoy but do wish we had a more powerful Next Gen Atari. Nothing against Firebee, nothing against the Hatari and like, all really cool stuff, but lets face it, sub 300MHz for Firebee will not get far in this multi-media world we live in. Or Atari evironments like Hatari on Windows or Atari just does not have the same feel for me. I now still remain Atarian at heart but also am an Amigan, since 2009/2010 when I heard about the X1000 Next Gen Amiga. Owned one of them and now own the newest X5000. I see some fun in the Amiga community how the Amiga OS is still professionally worked on and A-Eon have thrown some good money at creating newer PPC systems. It is all rather cool. Even these Next Gen Amigan's are underpowered compared to Windows or Mac boxes but still, close enough to do some real work stuff, fast enough to get things done. Just dreaming it would have been cool if somehow TOS as we know it could be advance in a way to be more modern and that Atari specific or multi-platform systems that are native to Atari could come about. I wonder if all the current crop of Atari guru's that make upgrades and goodies for Atari could get together and create something like this. Would be a dream come true. I know I know.... takes lots of money and this is all a hobby. But one can dream. I mean, look at Vampire.... they are building these things and selling as fast as they make them. From what I hear almost 1600 people in line.... Thats 1/2 a million $$ and its happening. Tells me if the cards were right, something like that could happen in Atariland too. One can dream. TJ
  12. I have decided not to sell. Non of the other items in this picture are for sale. Already sold that Jag CD long ago. Please close this thread. I will look to see if there is an option for me to do so. thxs. tj
  13. Getting cold feet after playing with it a bit. Think I will mull it over for the night and halt selling it for right now. Took me forever to get this one. Don't really want to sell but waffled on it. TJ
  14. Decided to put my Atari Mega STe up for sale. $575 firm As I hate to ship vintage gear these days (too often UPS/FedX/USPS) drop test and no matter how well one packs things, they seem to hate the long trips and being dropped left and right. Therefore looking for a buyer that can buy locally and pay cash. Welcome to see the computer running before you drive it home. I am located one hour from Sacramento California. If after a number of weeks I get no local buyer, I may consider shipping, but will deal with that if that time comes. Great condition, very clean. Includes the Mega STe with keyboard, mouse, power cord, and user manual. No software or anything else is included. Has 1.4mb floppy drive that works well in my tests. No hard drive. If you don't own any Atari and need a color monitor, I may part with one of my Atari color for an added $75. Only known issue is the #2 key does not work. Odds are a new mylar from Best Buy at $29 can fix that. Email me if you have any questions. TJ
  15. I purchased my Atari 800 with my own paper route money in 1980. Used that for 10 years. Purchased my Mega 2 ST in 1990 right after I got married. Used that for 5 years. Forget what I did with the Atari 800. Something tells me I sold somehow but since Internet was not out then (well as we use today), not sure how I sold it. LOL. Around mid 1990s when the Ataris and AMigas died off, I needed a Pro system, and moved to Mac. Quadra 800AV was my 1st. Then had many Macs from that point on. Got back into using Ataris sometime mid 2000s, maybe 2005. Even got into Amiga around 2010 and own AmigaNG based system now. So it was not a particular app for me but needed something modern that could handle internet and online worlds that we all love now. Macs did that well and were cool. Easy switch for me. Never liked Windows but did use at work. Used Macs at home. TJ
  16. Sorry if this is not the correct forum group to post this question. They are 2600 based so figured I would ask here. Anyone know of a cable or converter that allows something like a Flashback 7 to connect to a VGA Display or HDMI TV? These devices have RCA style jacks and one is for Audio and one for Video. Works OK on my TV but wanted to connect to my larger newer TV that is HDMI only. Or maybe a TV that has a VGA option on it too. Thanks TJ
  17. So I see more Falcons or C-Lab based Falcons like the come up for sale. I take it these models from places like UK and Germany are all 220v. Can they be run with some adapter on 110v in USA? One day I may pull the trigger on a C-Lab model like the MKX abd would be good to know in advance what I need to do in order to run one in USA. Thanks, TJ
  18. Video link, picture, and shipping quote all emailed to you. Let me know. TJ
  19. For sale, shipping to USA only, a Spectre GCR by Gadgets by Small. I own 3 and decided I will sell one set. Will include the Spectre GCR with Apple Roms, User Manual, Original Box, and a copy of the 3.0 software. You need to provide your own floppy cable as I don't have extra of those. Happy to make a video showing my Mega 2 ST running it for the buyer so he/she can see it works before I pack up and ship. $79.95 plus shipping. Happy to also email you pictures, just ask.
  20. $599 for Jag CD on eBay. $200 for Jag in box mint with 4 games and S Video Cable too. Of course eBay and paypal had their share of the loot as did expensive shipping from west coast to east but it all worked out. TJ TJ
  21. The Jag CD sold on eBay and the Jaguar sold locally so both are gone onto new happy homes. TJ
  22. Nah, you are speaking your mind, and I am good with that. Just don't have the gumption to sell a Jag CD for $300. Take hits on many things I sold in the past to move them on but took me forever to get a Jag CD, don't really need to sell it, so trying eBay at $599 shipped to see what happens. eBay will grab $60 and paypal about $20. Cost of of shipping all over the place for this big of box. Shipping shows anywhere from $35 to $40. If it has to ship back east and I am all the way west. Shipping not cheap these days. Maybe luck out and more west coast. May be willing to sell outside of eBay cheaper as save some of those fees but not $300. I just have to keep it if that is all it can get. Think I will keep the Jag itself for carts. Still fun to play when I do have the time. TJ
