  1. Fair enough and I did not either but figured I would list it here anyway. Won't hurt.

I have sold my fair share of vintage gear over the many years and sometimes it sells, other times it does not.

I am not worried about it.

As I mentioned, I only decided to put it up as the prices seem so high and I seldom use it, so it they actually fetch that kind of coin on eBay, I will try and sell it.

I sold my Firebee for only $600 and even paid the $30 shipping so made $570 on it. Of course it cost me $900 for it when I purchased it so I took a loss to find it a new home. Could have made more but no need if situations are right and we can work out a quick easy sale.

I know you can always find great deals... some deals you break even, and others you make a few $.

If she sells, cool. If not, no biggee.

    Thanks for the words.

Going off of ebay is a bad idea. eBay item number:322218062715 sold last Wed for $540 ($500 plus $40 shipping) for a boxed Jag CD and a boxed Jag combined....so Goochman is right on the money. Ebay is filled with bid wars and artificially inflated merchandise. Reminds me of the time I listed "Outrun 3D" for the SMS. At the time the going rate was around $100. A bid war ensued and it ended for $500. I wasn't expecting the buyer to pay me..but he did! Lo and behold he had it relisted a week later with a reserve. Whatever the reserve was it didn't make it. Bids would not go past $100. Just goes to show. If you are looking for that amount of coin you might be better off trying ebay. I could be wrong but I really can't see someone here dropping that kind of coin (plus paypal fees no less) for a JagCD and Jag.

  2. Actually, I appreciate that, but appears that is not the case these days.

Please check eBay. $1K plus for full systems with CD in box... Just the CD in box right this very moment I have one bookmarked selling for $575 and still has time. Others selling for well over that.

To tell you the truth, that is the only reason I listed it. Appears Jag CD systems are through the roof right now.

I will watch the unit that ends tonight and see how that fairs. Then maybe break out my CD and sell separate and keep the Jag.

I listed my set as a minimum of $999 at eBay, including shipping which will be expensive double boxing like I do, as the minimum I will sell for is the $795 plus shipping I have listed at the Atari Forums. Once eBay, Paypal, and shipping comes out, that is what it comes down to.

I prefer not to sell on eBay and prefer money order so I can sell as cheap as I am willing to go for the full set. And if you compare my $795 to past sold of mint in box like I have to what sold at eBay, it is cheaper, so figured a good deal for someone that wants to.

But heh, just the mumblings of this old man so maybe non of it is true. hehe

But yes, the prices are crazy high and it is not just one or two but many have been selling at that price. Can only guess collectors wanting original boxes and all.

But again, thanks for being candid with me but I digress, appears Jag CD in box are no longer selling at the $300 you posted. Just look at eBay passed sold listings.

    Example of recent CD alone...

I think alot of the posts here are politely trying to say that you are asking too much for a jag+jag CD. Best case scenario for a boxed Jag is around $150-$200 - best case. For the CD Id guess around $300. $800 for the combo is pretty far above market price IMHO.

The Firebee is a much more rare beast, esp in the States which is why you got good $$$ for that one.

    Just my $0.02

  3. I have opened it up to PayPal as long as account is verified and shipping to verified address. Buyer must pay PayPal fees. Forgot to update my post here, sorry. Yes all packing for units in the boxes. Much cheaper to buy from here as we don't have the fees of eBay so I marked up considerably there. And if we do money order here, buyer saves about $30 PayPal fees they don't need to pay. :-)

By the way, just sold my Firebee via these forums to another atariage member so I have that reference too. Happy to share that with buyer. They received the Firebee within 2 days of me receiving their money order.

  4. I am only going full set for now. But if I am unable to sell as a set, I may later sell things separate. I myself like to sell outside of eBay when I can, to someone in the Atari Forums, even if I don't sell for as much. Something is to be said about selling to someone local or someone outside of eBay system and be part of the Atari community that way. But indeed, I may list the entire set on eBay later tonight if I get no takers here, unless a good opportunity arises here that makes sense for me. Just sold my Firebee this week here at a fair deal too. TJ

You're probably better off selling it on eBay for $795 instead of taking a mere $500 here. Why cheat yourself?

  5. $795 for all. CD unit not for sale separate.

First off please note, looking for local pick-up only on this, Northern California (USA), and if this does not pan out after a couple weeks of the ad, will consider shipping at buyers expense. Will still be USA only if I end up having to ship.

So cash and carry, come see it running before you buy. I am located 1 hour from Sacramento California.

If you are not local and want to be added to possible future shipping list, PM me your info. I only accept money order so no paypal. Would double box all for safe shipping but today will offer 1st dibs to someone local that can purchase and pick up and pay cash.

All in mint condition, played with very few hours. Complete ready to enjoy. Even has S Video cable for better video or use old Jag TV box too. Have some games so all you see in the attached pictures is what you will get.

Video showing it running a couple weeks ago.

  6. $599 plus shipping

Decided I will sell my Firebee. Shipment to USA locations only. Payment via money order.

Here is a video showing my Firebee booting and running last week.

Buyer will get the Firebee in beige color Firebee case, the original box with small poster that came with it, the CF Card inside will boot FireTOS, and two 110v power supplies.

The battery needs replacing as it no longer charges so you will need to buy a new one from Firebee.org or make your own from generic battery.

As you will see from the video, she boots and runs. Nifty box but I need funds for another project so decided to sell.

I will exchange my phone # with buyer so we can chat before making the deal.

    Thanks for looking.

  7. Considering selling my Atari Falcon, Mega 2STe, and Firebee (USA and local Pick-up only)
Just thinking outside the box at the moment and may put up for sale my Atari Falcon, Atari Mega STe, and Firebee systems. At this time not looking to ship as I hate to ship old systems worrying they may not arrive in one piece. I know this closes the amount of people that may be interested but if you are in California or Nevada, within a days drive away, maybe there is some Atarian looking to add 3 cool systems to their collection.

I am not actively selling it yet so only putting this out as a feeler. Would take $2K for it all.

So a unique set of gear and unique situation where one has to be local to come buy it, make sure they like it, etc...

So I will keep this here as a feeler in case someone is interested.

Again, sorry, not looking to break things up and will not ship, at this time. That could change down the road but I am in no rush to sell and mostly just considering selling these so I can get something else is all.

All items in very clean well maintained shape.

    Thanks

    Tom

  8. Yup, but did use it now connected to my newly acquired Mega STe.

But yes, know well enough to just stay away from parts but some days I opt just not for the extra chances of going inside stuff.

I may try the quick spray option. If that fails, will open her up.

    hehe

ahh.. I have a different version of the 1224 with knobs on the right side.. the on/off and volume control are one.. so I guess thats never a worry. Would you think corrosion? Also if the monitor has been sitting on the shelf for years.. there is no issue with caps being charged inside.. and usually when you remove the back cowel you can expose what you need to see without danger.. There is a service manual online for one.. I downloaded it a few weeks back.

    James

  9. So I take it you had enough gap between the monitor case and knobs to shoot the cleaner inside?

I will have to flip mine over and see.

If the case was easy enough to remove I guess it would be better to go at it from inside but with flyback transformers ready to zap you, I never like to open displays. ;-)

    TJ

I had this problem a few years ago and rectified it by spraying electrical parts cleaner behind the knobs. I let it sit for several minutes and things loosened up.

I'm not in anyway qualified to tell you if this is recommended or not, but it worked for me.

Oh, and there are electrical parts cleaners that are safe for plastics. See if you can find that type to be sure you don't damage the case or knobs.

  10. I have a few stored away displays and found the SC1224 has stuck knobs. Otherwise it still works but volume a tad loud. Went to lower it and knob will not budge. All 3 knobs in fact are stuck. The one I own looks like this model.

    See attached picture.

These knobs are on left side bottom as you look at the display. 3 knobs.

Any advice on how to unstick and get them moving again?

  11. Cool, I appreciate the kind offer.

I might have a mylar lying about. I briefly owned a Mega STe that had a bad keyboard connector on the motherboard. Before I realized the trouble was with the Mega and not the keyboard I swapped out the mylar. If I can locate the old mylar you are welcome to it.

I'll look through my stuff this weekend.

  12. The Mega STe I recently purchased appears to have a bad 2/@ key that is bad. I know $30 mylars can be purchased at Best and B&C but before I open the keyboard, figured I would ask for advice on how to properly open the keyboard.

Don't want to break any plastics, etc...

I did check youtube for atari keyboard repair but did not find anything. I like to watch videos when I can on repairing stuff.

I see 3 screws on the bottom of the keyboard.

With those 3 removed, do the top and bottom 1/2 split easily or do you need to grasp from one side and pop it off. I know some plastics may snap together are certain areas and don't want to crack and break the keyboard.

Any other tips would be sweet.

I did get a tip back from Best stating to try this...

"Before you consider buy any Atari replacement parts (like the best MegaSTE Keyboard mylar)

lets run a quick MegaSTE Keyboard test. Take apart your Atari MegaSTE Keyboard down to the mylar.
Next remove the #2 Keycap. Then swap one of the MegaSTE keycap numeric keypad plungers (with the conductive pads that make contact with
the MegaSTE mylar) that are never used and swap it with the #2 plunger. Reassemble up the MegaSTE keyboard and test it."
Is there some special tool to remove the #2 keycap on numeric keypad as he recommended?
I guess when I get in there I can see about this plunger and such.
I mean for $30 plus shipping, I would rather just replace the mylar if the odds are it is the issue. Don't want to break keys and such.
    Thanks

  13. Very cool. Thanks for the tips.

It's dead easy on a Mega STe. Without having to take the main cover off, just

loosen the screw that holds the hard drive cover on and gently lift the cover up.

Watch out for a few wires, but that's about it. Right in front of you is the dip

switches, ROMs, memory SIMMs, and the hard drive itself. The ROMs just

    pop out.

Be careful around the SIMMs. The latches that hold them in tightly get

    pretty brittle with age.

    HTHs.

  14. Hi, what am I installing to?

This Mega STe has no internal hard drive.

I guess what you are saying is if I boot from this HDD 8.2 floppy, then it just works. And if I want to install the driver to a SD card in the unit, I can do that too.

I just did not know if this external device will be seen if I boot from this HDD floppy and just plain works.

    TJ

I'm not sure what you're asking sorry, but I've a Mega STe and external ultrasatan. Just connect it up to the external port and boot HDdriver & install. Then the ultrasatan will not need the floppy as it auto-boots.

    Steve

  15. Hi, my Atari Mega STe arrived! Yeah!!

So this system has no internal hard drive but the seller did send along with the system an external what he said was an UltraSatan, that and an internal cable also in case I was to install inside the Mega STe, and an external ac adapter (not pictured below) for the external UltraSatan box.

For now I prefer to go external with this setup.

He also sent a HDD Driver 8.2 he had purchased.

So, having never used one before, I want to try connecting this unit externally for now.

I take it I need to plug into the external ACSI port, plug the ac adapter into the box to give it power, and make some bootable floppy with the HDD 8.2 on it so it can see the device.

Is there any step by step on how to set this up?

I have never used HDD software before on an Atari.

The box does have a toggle switch on the back side. I take it that is for power on and off?

Here is what the device looks like. See attached.

    Thanks
