Cool, does it have a HD 1.44 drive in it? If not, get a Epson SMD-300 drive, it's a direct drop in swap. if you need TOS 2.06, let me know.
Yes, 1.44 but no on TOS. Appears to be 2.05. ;-(

I have been getting back into Atari as of late. Been collecting for some time but not using much. You know, life gets in the way. But being raised in Atari since the early 80s having purchased my own Atari 800, it seems to bring me enjoyment still every now and then. Hoping to find more time to tinker with both 8bit and the ST lines. Even been playing my old 2600 lately.
Anyway, never owned a Mega STe so will be excited when it arrives. Maybe I can organize my Atari room and make it all more accessible so I use it more often. Often that room becomes a junk room where we throw stuff that has no home. I need to put an end to that so I can reach my Ataris!

Anyone have a link to a Atari Mega STE in USA for sale?
Non on eBay right now.
Looking to spend around $400 give or take.
Saw one on another Atari forum for $325 recently but that one sold. Saw one on eBay for $450 but that one was pulled off eBay so they must of sold it locally.
Anyway, let me know.

So my Falcon does have the RF port too.
So is it that one if connected to a TV one can do the "true color" modes? Low rez but lots more colors?
I have seen some cables advertised on eBay that talk about all supports modes if used on a Falcon but unsure really how that works.
TJ
The other monitor is an RGB type one (or RF if the American Falcon actually has that port). It allows some different graphics modes, including some interlaced true colour ones that don't work on the Falcon's VGA out of the box. The Falcon can use three different monitors, VGA, RGB (like a standard ST colour monitor or old school TV) and the SM124 iirc. All change the options you can alter in the video modes, and have various other side effects. If you have a monitor that can sync to the signal then you should be able to use some clever cabling to switch. I'm not familiar with your monitor but I suspect the TTC is a digital mode isn't it? That probably won't work on the Falcon.
A few demos and games won't work in VGA, but overall it is probably the best to use, particularly if you can get your hands on something like Blowup or Screenblaster which allow you to up the resolution a fair bit.

I've been meaning to do this for a long time. I just ordered all 9 issues.
Curious what the cost would be for someone buying all 9 issues now and delivered to USA? I may be game to save up and buy them. TJ

I am a happy owner of a Falcon now. I happen to have owned a TT030 before so had kept my Atari PTC1426 display, and is what I have the Falcon connected to.
From what I see, the video port on the Falcon connects to your run of the mill VGA type display. But, I understand some applications may not work correct in certain video output and you have to use a different cable or something to make it work right.
I know my Atari PTC1426 has a switch on back that allows two settings, but I am unsure what it really does. It can be on VGA or TTC.
Not sure if one setting will allow such apps that have issues on VGA work or what.
I also have seen these special Falcon cables on eBay that say's something about working at all Falcon video settings.
The Falcon came with various apps and it seems some work, others display off garbled video, etc... and I am trying to wrap my head around what the various differences of Falcon video are, and maybe better use with the Atari PTC1426. Or, get a cable I see on eBay and connect to different display.
Any guidance would be cool.
Thanks

Still looking. TJ
I believe there were 16 total issues. I am missing #2 and #3. Let me know if you have these for sale. I am located in California, USA. Thanstks, TJ

I would buy one. I own a Falcon now and would be nice to have a box.
TJ
Curious if anyone would be interested in a reproduction box for their Atari Falcon? It would basically be identical to what was originally released from Atari. I guess this may raise concerns of originals and authenticity but for those who would enjoy the complete package (minus foam, that's a whole separate issue), it may be nice.

Cool. Saw a Mag!X on eBay and it threw me off. Must be a real old copy then.
Will have to find Magic Mac X then on eBay or see if Heidelberg still sells it.
I used Magic Mac in the day (1990s) on a Apple PowerBook Duo 280C but was a LONG time ago. Lost track of it. Don't remember the name Mag!X back then so it seemed newer to me for some reason. I remember Magic for Atari, Magic Mac for 68K macs. But I left Atari and Magic long before OS X came out so guess I saw the X in Mag!X and thought, OS X version. LOL.
Thanks
TJ
No, you are just confused. They didn't "make" MagiC for OS 9. MagiC Mac is the version that runs on Mac OS Classic, while MagiC Mac X is the one for OS X. The former uses the 68k emulation provided by the OS (if it's not a 68k Mac), while MMX includes a 68k emulator. Mag!X is the previous name of MagiC, the name was changed sometime after ASH became the distributor.
MagiC Mac X should work fine on a G4 Cube with OS X 10.4.
-
For some reason that seems backwards to me from what I have seen. Magic, version 6.2, was the last OS 9 version they made. Mag!X was created for OS X, that came after OS 9 as we know. It was supposed to be Magic for OS X Macs. Although maybe it is called Magic Mac X and not Mag!X as I wrote down. LOL.
It does get a tad confusing.
Heidelberg website shows Magic Mac X so maybe that is it. hehe

TJ
First of all, Mag!X was renamed to MagiC after v2 and it continued development until v6.2, so that's the most current version. To run that, you'd need a ST emulator capable of handling this - I have no idea what emulators run on PPC which is what your mac has.
You should be able to run MagicMac without problems on your mac (at least according to the kind soul that wrote about MagiC on Wikipedia). The only problem is that I'm not sure if application systems still sells any flavor of MagiC, I suppose you'd have to get into touch with them?
Bear in mind though, MagiC is mostly about running "properly written GEM applications" (and that's more true with magicpc and magicmac). I've seen a magicpc install once, it can use the host machine's network and access the internet and take advantage of higher resolutions and all, but that was about it more or less.If that's your thing then definitely go for it!

I have a nice Apple G4 Cube running OS X 10.4 that now gets very little use but could make a sweet Atari clone. Will the last version of Mag!X I think 2.0 run on a ppc G4 Cube?
Or how about MagicMac if I boot into OS 9 instead?

Anyone else have a XEGS that is either black & white only or a color and all the same color? I own 2 of the XEGS's, one new one I purchased from B&C years ago and that is my main one, but a used one I purchased on Craigslist before it was flackey on insert for cartridges, so I opened it years ago and then after that color as it should be was gone. I remember back than asking and some said a pot inside could be adjusted and I believe I tried that, tweaking the pot left and right, and slightly pending the pot metal to get better contact, but alas it kept doing the same thing. So I saved it but would be neato if I can get color back.
Maybe I was not adjusting it right?
Any advice on why an XEGS will not show correct color would be cool.
Thanks

Thanks. I will try that. TJ
Happy to help, glad you got it working, the other 16 anonymous downloaders are welcome too

Is Papyrus actually still for sale? Is it download only or physical floppies/CD? I tried emailing I think it was 16/32 last year twice and never received a reply back. Was asking if I could still buy it. TJ

Actually, I found my issue. For whatever reason, the Odyssey 2 does not like my 20" Toshiba TIMM. My old Atari 2600 and 8 bits and even newer Jaguar are all happy with it. I moved the Odyssey 2 to a small LCD 13" display and she has color. Go figure. LOL. TJ

Did you ever find a cure? I am having the same issue. Been a number of years since using mine and only works in B&W now. ;-(

How easy of a swap is 2.05 to 2.06? Are these roms in an easy access area (under hard drive sled) or elsewhere where a top case removal is in order? I did updated my older Mega 2 from 1.02 to 1.04 in the day and that was easy enough. TJ
