Save2600, you would be correct sir. They are not cheap. Really a big time hobbiest system for those willing to spend lotsa $ to keep a platform alive. No common sense to it. Just all love for everything old keeping the spirit alive. I am cool with that. Did not expect anyone to respond to my ad but did it out of whim to see. Figured there was some looney like me that was looking for an X1000 and had a Firebee or Falcon they wanted to trade. I was able to sell some other things and then opted to just take my ad down and keep and enjoy the X. It is a rather cool system. TJ

If you don't know what an AmigaOne X1000, then this trade is not for you. They are not cheap. But figured I would go on the limb here in case there was an USA or Canada based Amiga enthusiast that been wanting to buy an X1000 (they sell new for $3300) but could not find the extra cash to do so. I will be selling my X1000 soon, probably for $2750 or so, but if someone here has an Atari Falcon or Atari Firebee for partial trade, plus difference in cash, I may consider it. I know, more than likely no amigan's here but you never know. So figured I would ask. Email me what you have and where you are and we can see if we can strike a deal. Figure the Falcon or Firebee will be worth $800 or so to me off the price of my X1000. If you have both Atari, may consider both too. TJ

Can you post a picture of this system? I may be interested and in USA. Can you tell me if the warranty, if any, travells with the new owner? What did the makers of the Firebee give as a warranty, is it transferable, and how much time is left on it? Tom in California

Rustynut, before you sell the Translator One, can you tell me the specs on the ac power supply? I own a Translator One but missing the ac adapter. I am hoping the specs from yours will lead me to finding a generic one that I can buy on the net. Also, do you happen to have the owners guide for it? A scan would be great if I could get that too. Any help would be great! TJ

FireBee Computer - Anybody own one?
AtariSociety replied to tjb's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
May I ask what books would be an asset to getting back into Atari and relearning Atari if one has been away for a very long time and does not remember much. I was an Atari user up to around 1994 and since then left. I know Firebee uses a much newer OS so will a book about TOS help me relearn how to use an Atari for every day computing? What is recommended for someone like me? TJ -

Trade: Amiga A4000T for Atari Falcon
AtariSociety replied to AtariSociety's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Thanks. Yes, the A4000T is rather nice but I need room for an Atari Falcon or Firebee so time to sell it or trade it. 8-) tj -
I have a real nice Amiga A4000T system as found in this for sale link I have going on over at Amibay. My ad can be found here with pictures: http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=28770 Would consider a sale straight out of course but if you an a real clean Atari Falcon, may consider a partial trade of an Atari Falcon + cash for mine. Depending one what your Falcon has we can determine how much cash + Falcon for my A4000T system. Prefer USA or Canada only on this one to keep freight costs down. Thanks TJ

Jaguar will not power up & can CD be tested without Jaguar?
AtariSociety replied to AtariSociety's topic in Atari Jaguar
Doh! Thought I could use new Jag CD without having to put in a cart. Went back to cart only and she works. Reinstalled Jag CD with Carr and cart worked. Then tried again the CD w/o cart in and this time she worked. Thanks, she is alive. Tj -
Well, I purchased a new Jaguar last year from B&C, played with it for maybe 15 minutes, and has sat since. I have all sorts of old Ataris and normally a few times a year I break them out for some fun. Was shocked with I plugged the Jaguar in and no power light comes on at all. Just dead as a doornail. Leads to my second question.... purchased a used Atari Jaguar CD unit on eBay and just arrived. That is why the Jaguar came out of the box to be played with. Since the Jaguar will not boot, no way for me to test the CD system. I see no light on the CD that lights up or anything like that. So, first off, any fuse or something silly like that inside the Jaguar that is blown and I need to replace so she powers up? How about a way to confirm the CD powers up without the Jaguar. It was sold to me as working and would hate to wait so long without testing it. Thanks TJ

What is your opinion of Jack Tramiel?
AtariSociety replied to Master Phruby's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
I like the Tramiel's in that they at least gave Atari more of a life and at least took them into the 1990s. Unless someone else came in, I think Atari was going down the drain. I am sure they made many mistakes, poor marketing, etc..., but made for an interesting story at least Tramiel coming from Commodore, getting ousted, buying Atari, go after the computer market and I feel did some nice things with the Atari ST in the early days. Made it interesting... Power Without The Price. I bought into it and used Atari until mid 90s before jumping to Apple professionally. tj -
Might be interested in the Odyssey 2. Is the model with grey detachable joysticks of black connected sticks? TJ

IMHO, this desktop is the slickest, most modern looking, coolest "possible" desktop I have seen in the Atari platform and is a shame it has stopped. I wish I was a programmer to help finish it but alas I am not even close. I hope some Atari fanatics that know programming pick this back up and finish it. Would be real nice to use on Firebee for example. I think there are a few things missing to help an older Atari more useful in this day and age. I will mention 2. #1 Need of a modern web browser that can handle most web sites of today. The new Firebee or faster clones should be able to handle them so would be nice to have a new browser. #2 More mature and useful desktop like this new zView I think they call it. Keeps fairly basic on appearance so it is not too much eye candy but I feel a step above what is already available, looks more modern, and has some nice windowing and tabbing features that look useful. I really like the looks of this new desktop and sorry to see the original programmer stop. 8-( tj
