I'm in for one board.

I picked up a couple of Indus GT disk drives a few months ago. One of the drives has an original box with the 4 user manuals bound together. They both came with power supplies and power up to track 19 and both read and scan without fail. My problem is that I can't keep them because they are saturated in cigarette smoke. I have them boxed up, wrapped, and taped in black plastic otherwise I wouldn't be able to be in the same room with them. I would like for them to go to a good home and recoup as much of my investment as possible. Is there interest in these devices on this forum? If so, I will post pictures and offer them up to sell or trade.

I too would like to participate in this round - the concept sounds "fun enough" for me to give it a go. -
As did mine - perfectly packaged and ready to be installed.

As is mine Candle - same status.

I guess I'm going to have to call them. USPS tracking says this only: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You entered: RR459931807P Status: Sorry, there's no information for that RR459931807P. Please double-check it and try again. Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You are missing the 'L' at the end of the tracking id.

I would take 2 of the adapter boards.

a cuecat, either usb or ps/2, could be used as a barcode reader. american express released an inline ps/2 magnetic card reader about 10 years ago - there might still be a few around.

I picked up 8 titles from Gary and I am most satisfied with the transaction. He responded quickly, gave reasonable quotes, had fast shipping, and all items were as described. -

4 Atari 16MB Hard Disk Images Completed

I have a 512mb compact flash with FAT16, a windows pc with CF read/writer, and Altirra. How do i a) create drives on the CF that my new IDE plus 2.0 can read, and b) copy these images to the newly created drives? what DOS / Utilities will i need? -
I had no idea there were different 130xe memory configurations. I cracked mine open and sure enough, it looks like it has the 4bit memory setup. before i PM Candle, am i right?

First steps before powering up an old disk drive
Raul Vasbutin replied to Raul Vasbutin's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I found a link the service manual in another thread. Using it and the information given above, I have cleaned both units, tested the power packs, and verified level 1 diagnostics completed successfully. In short, there is nothing wrong with iether of the drives - both read and write as expected. Thank you for your help. -
I recently picked up a couple of indus gt floppy drives that cosmetically appear to be in good shape but both are dusty and reek of stale cigarette smoke - even the one that is still in its box. I am concerned that i should take measures to ensure they are ready to be powered up but i don't know what to look for to know if all is ok with them. What do you guys do with old drives you pick up before you power them up for the first time?

I too would welcome such an effort. While working at TV Guide a while back I was fascinated by their use of an ECI device on the 130xe to receive a sat signal and grab the guide data off of it. This is what renewed my interest in the Atari 8-bit computers. I had a few weeks in-between work projects last Christmas and, going throught the same article, I researched and purchased all the components on the PBI parts list but have not done anything with them yet.

IDE Plus 2.0 - preorder starts today
Raul Vasbutin replied to drac030's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
It could only be the interface's RAM contents. I have no idea what time it should remain unpowered to lose contents. Do you use an external power supply? Could you post your CONFIG.SYS? I placed DEVICE IDEPTIME right after DEVICE SIO, but the damn thing still works this is a great point - i am currently using an external PS and realized fairly quickly that i needed to cycle the power on it while i was 'playing around' with the device. -
