review of the Madtronix 3D Imager for Vectrex
vectrexroli replied to ComputerSpaceFan's topic in Vectrex
I would try some kind of small pad between the imager and the forehead. It is much cheaper and not so painful than a nose surgery. -
review of the Madtronix 3D Imager for Vectrex

If I understood it correctly John from Madtronix wanted to increase the price in February to 99 EUR + shipping as production was more expensive than he thought. But I don´t know if this is still the plan when it will happen. -
Vectorzoa cartridges for the Vectrex are available again
vectrexroli replied to vectrexroli's topic in Vectrex
Well it was delayed as far as I know, but based on my experience with George from Fury Unlimited so far I have no doubt that it will be delivered. What rare stuff do you have in your collection if I may ask? -

Narrow Escape is also my favorite. I remember I even put a comment to Steve Benway´s video back then telling him, he should not judge the game by just seeing the 2D hack he was playing. When I was shooting the video review of my old original 3D imager I showed all the 3D games and as the "eye distance" of my Sony 3D camera is not big enough for the 3D imager I had to play everything in 2D through the viewfinder of my camera and for Narrow Escape it is really impossible to do that. -

The light pen is a neat toy, I like it. Just in case you didn´t know, even the super rare prototype for the light pen game "Mail plane" showed up recently. Chris Romero, another hero from the Vectrex community bought that and you can download it for free from his web page: http://www.vectrex.com/ If you want to see mailplane in action, I made a video some time ago: http://youtu.be/Hh8kKOMrFdA -

I am not really sure if there can be done much about the ghosting as such, You always will have some of that and it was also visible on the old original imager. What can be done is some adjusting by moving the white sticker slightly left or right, but it will not make much difference in my opinion. But we will see.. BTW: I also have some ghosting on my Nvidia 3D Vision 2 shutter glasses. -

I don´t think so. In my review video I put both color wheels beside each other and as you can see, they are completely different. At 02:54 you can see them: http://youtu.be/A3GOOnlG_fo -
Vectorzoa cartridges for the Vectrex are available again

Thanks, good to know at least someone likes it. There were some homebrew games where I did not order or pre-order because either I did not know about them or I didn´t have the money at that point. For example the 2 new Fury games Hellhole and Warrior I didn´t order and I now really regret that. -

It is in the video description, but anyway here the direct shortcut for those who can´t wait to order immediately: http://madtronix.com/en/order.html -
Just wanted to let you know that the 3 Vectorzoa cartridges for the Vectrex are now available again. Madtronix, the guy who is also doing the 3D imager is currently making them. I didn´t get those Vectorzoa carts when they came out back then and they never showed up on eBay later. If you don´t know what those are, I showed them in my latest video: http://youtu.be/ZDIoQrWGn0c This is not a detailed review, it is more like a "first impressions" video. Besides the 2 games, Logo is quite interesting as there is now a programming tool for the Vectrex to play around with vector graphics, which is really neat.

That´s interesting, thanks. That explains a lot. When eBay was new I was amazed what great stuff was available there in the US for the TI99. In Europe not so much TI99 stuff shows up and when it happens the sellers think they are sitting on a gold mine, so often it is cheaper to import from the US, at least when it comes to games.
-
Today I also have some of the great Atarisoft ports for the TI99 in my collection. I quite like Jungle Hunt, which for whatever reason came in a smaller box than Picnic Paranoia and Defender.

The music for the C64 version of Commando was really impressive back then and I still like it. In my opinion one of the best tunes for that machine. I remember from time to time I switched on the C64 just to hear that music and a friend of mine even bought 2 C64 and started a song on both of them at the same time to record the song in "Stereo" on a tape deck. Crazy...

Cool, a new Vectrex homebrew project! That´s always a good thing. Keep on your good work, dear Luchs!
-
Mine is hooked up as well.I found out about the new TI 99 scramble homebrew game recenetly. That one is an amazing version of the game, I like it even more than Parsec.
-
Here in Austria it was even more expensive I guess and most of the times I didn´t even know that certain stuff was existing back then.
-
Ha ha It looks worse on the video than in reality. That original dust is also from the past, so I´ll keep it.
-
I am a huge fan of your channel and I have been watching it for quite some time, even back in the days when I had still my old username on Youtube.

I love the AtariAge forum, I have been following all the great discussions here for many years, but I thought that maybe I should update my avatar picture and become a bit more active here on this great forum. That idea also came into my mind again as MaximumRD often mentions this forum in his videos... If you don´t mind I would like to share here my love letter to the TI99/4A, which was my first computer I ever owned. http://youtu.be/yAOlEImLGx0 roland

Vectrex 3D imager from Madtronix is available again

Funny that you say that, it was also one of my first thoughts, that hopefully George will find out about this and do another 3D game for the Vectrex, but I don´t know if he really would do that as creating a 3D game is pretty had I guess. -

Ah, so you are that one person that is watching my videos! I put a lot of effort into video making and I have also a lot of fun with this. It is great how my wife is supporting this all, even she is not interested in retro gaming at all, but from time to time she plays on the 3DS and light gun games. I really like the SCPH-1110, it is not as impressive as the Steel Battalion controller for the Xbox, but at least you get more games supporting this thing. -

So we were lucky I guess. It is really a neat device, just playing 3D Lords of the robots on my Vectrex. -

Yes I also did it like that. I have to say that the old one was always vibrating slighlty on my nose, and I hated that. The new one is defintely much more comfortable to wear. -

Yes right, there is an order form, but I am not sure if the price there is still correct. As far as I know John is working hard to produce the ordered imagers, so I don´t know if he has much time to keep the web page up to date. Just ask him. -
When I bought my two TI99/4A home computers back then, both were the aluminium cased versions but the keyboards were different when it came to quality. They both were black, but one felt "cheaper" than the other when typing on it.
