  1. Were there any 'official' games released way back for the ZX80? With 'official', I mean games from UK software houses to be purchased at WHSmith or computer shops.

Like Automated Simulations (Epyx) in USA did games for the A2 from 1978 onwards.

Yes accroding to Paul Farrow´s web page there were a few at least:

  2. Nice video! If I remember correctly, the first home computer Jeff Minter (among thousands of other people, of course) used was a ZX-80, after having been introduced to computers by the Commodore PET at his school. He was quite delighted when his father upgraded it to a ZX-81, to get rid of the constant blinking, and as you know made a few games sold by DKtronics I believe. Though his career didn't really take off until the ZX-81 was replaced with a VIC-20, which had both colours, redefinable graphics, sound and joystick input.

Also, perhaps you have someone else who could be your camera (wo)man while you're soldering, so they can shoot the footage for you to edit later?

There is really no space with all the camera equipment, lights and field monitor around my desk for a camera woman. ;-)

  3. 5$ a case... Even if the price double that's still a deal.

I would only need one, but I talk some friends around me about JFMateos multicart, so they could be interested by a case as well.

    I'll take 5 of them.

I put 1 Mateos cart into a blue clear shell, which looks great of course, a 2nd one in a dark grey one, at the 3rd I failed using a repro Vectrex cart shell, as the rotary switch did not stick out far enough, that one I built into the 3D printed case you can buy from a forum member on eBay, with that one I had slight issues with the position of the hole for the pause button though. So it depends which version of the Mateos cart you got, it seems there were slight differences.

  4. Thanks to aftyde, I now also have a label for my P-Code card. It is not 100% perfect, as I used HP photo paper and didn´t want to put more effort into it, as that card is hidden in the PEB anyway. ;)

For those of you who don´t know already, for 100% perfect results it would be necessary to vectorize the scan and play around with the picture, I did that for repro stickers for my Nintendo Virtual Boy store kiosk, there I didn´t even have a scan, only photos and the results were pretty good. If you want to do something similar for your TI-99 labels, I mention the basic steps in this video here around 8:09, but it is not a tutorial. Still could be interesting if you want "perfect" labels that look like new:

  5. is it possible to use the cart without the writer or do i have to buy the writer and the cart ? (the website is a little unclear, although i think i need the writer too)

also, i just found your youtube channel a couple of days ago - great channel mate i've been enjoying the videos !

    Thanks ;-)

You need to buy the writer once and you can use it then for all Mateos flash carts.

  6. it needs to be a cart that i can write roms to so that i can upgrade it with homebrew as and when such games arrive. there are a few titles already available that i would like that are no longer available in cartridge form :-(

OK I see, the VecMulti is a nice solution, but just in case you don´t know another solution where you can write ROMs to a cartridge is the Mateos rewritable multigame cartridge you see in the video below around 9:10:

It is not SD card based so you get 16 games on one single cart and you can buy it from here:
