  1. No, it's the AtariVox which is temporarily sold out, I was joking about the MemCard. I built 100 thinking they were going to sell out fast only to have no one wanting any, I'm glad to say it's changing now though
  2. I have a box of the things, got to get rid of them somehow
  3. BTW how much RAM is in it ? I just curious, as NVRAM is quite expensive. What's in there at the moment - CR2032 and a DS1210 ?

    Atarivox?

The SpeakJet chip is by far the most expensive item on the AtariVox, and like I said before, it's socketted on all MK1 units. I'm sure Albert could offer the new cased circuit with all the components + a socket where the SpeakJet fits, at low cost for a upgrade. Supercat thinks big, but the AVox is staying in it's present simple form, as it works perfectly OK (+ is easy for Albert to build). I am going to build a proto of Supercat's '2 controllers into one port' circuit. I think this'd be REALLY great, not only for 2 player AVox games but 3 player one's too
  5. SUCCESS ! I've fitted in a 80mm x 25mm low noise fan inplace of the crappy 70mm. Took a bit of doing (cutting the plastic H/D tray and 2 corners off the fan), but it is virtually silent now The difference is AMAZING
  6. PM me, and I'll send you a complimentary MemCard. (Same goes for anyone else wanting to incorporate it into their games / hacks)
  7. Just bought one of these - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie..._Pr4_PcY_BIN_IT Hopefully it'll quieten it down a bit
  8. I've got a solution to that (more details soon)
  9. The DS1210 is a great chip designed for this purpose. DS1210.pdf
  10. Is there a hack, like temperature controlled fan or something, to make this thing quieter ? I thought my GameCube was bad, but this is ridiculously loud
  11. Rob, they're the same as your VecFlash cable i.e. - base - GND middle - RX tip - TX
  12. I was on a waiting list ages ago, I don't know what the status of this is now ? (let me know if you want pre-payment)
  13. I should have said, I had nothing to do with the site (apart from this) - it belongs to a friend of mine - Martijn Wenting
  14. If you have a VecFlash cart, you might be interested to know these cables work with it. They're more flexible and stronger than the soldered ones I used to supply with the cart (nicer looking too).
  15. This sounds good, not just for the AVox, but for 3 player games as well It'd also free up the second port for console serial link-up stuff Would be pretty cool if it could be used on the Vectrex too
  16. VecFlash cart Thanks for looking
  17. The AtariVox driver pack should tell you everything you need to know.
  18. I'll test it this afternoon This is what it outputs (I can definitely make out 'batari basic') BB_AV.wav
  19. I just tried it, and when I pressed fire got a stream of sounds / allophones, not random but not words. Perhaps the baud rate is off a little in the driver code ?
  20. I know, it's OK Like Supercat said it's 'chicken and egg', it's hard to get lots of the units out there without a 'killer app' to kickstart demand. I know Strat-O-Gems will have a positive effect, as it's the first game to REALLY use the AVox (the replay feature being something not possible without the unit). Adding AVox support to BB now can only be a positive thing in the long term.
  21. Thanks for the encouragement, I really appreciate it
  22. Er, yes There's about 50 out there, 25 that Albert sold through AA and about the same I sold / gave away to developers and friends. Batari, I can't help with the AtariVox (I have only one left), but I'll send you a complimentary MemCard to play around with (PM me your shipping address)
  23. Ask Ken, over at www.speechchips.com, he know's a lot about the subject and has even made a chip for TTS using the SpeakJet.
